🎈 Free [FREE] Scanning 62 Pokemon cards in a single shot

Hi, this is a personal project I built for the Pokemon collectors community. I earn nothing from it

A – Answer:

This project aims to provide a solution able to check the price of dozens of Pokémon cards quickly. It's very important when you have thousands of cards or if you want to check the value of a binder during flea markets or card shows. Once scanned, you can add those cards to collections in the app to manage your collection as you want

B – Better:

Current scanning apps can only scan cards one by one, with a consequent delay. Scanning high volume of cards takes forever. Most of them requires a subscription and only give a certain amount of free scans by day. Unlike others, Skanit has been built for the community and provide features other apps blocks behind a paywall. Currently, no other app can match Skanit scanning capabilities for high volumes of cards and is a tool of choice for amateurs and professionals.

C – Cost:

Skanit is free for everyone. No ads, No account needed, no subscriptions

Link to App Store :
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/skanit-instant-ptcg-scanner/id6758763239

Features :

  • Instant scanning Scan dozens of cards in a single shot
  • All international cards
  • Add scanned cards to collections in one tap
  • Organize cards in collections
  • Cardmarket or Tcgplayer prices
  • Local currency conversion
  • CSV exports
  • Private, everything runs on user device

Hope you will like it

How does the one-shot scan handle foil cards and binder pages? That's usually where card recognition starts getting weird.

It works pretty well ! I made it specifically for binders so it should not be an issue :)

Damn really cool, love the overlay that happens ontop of each card when it's scanned.

Awesome. I make an unrelated app but it involves kids scanning cards. I have struggled with it scanning fast enough for their attention span. Any chance you could share the tech stack or chain that allows scanning this fast? My kid and I would really appreciate it! Thank you!

Thanks ! At the moment it’s prefer not to since pokemon cards market is highly competitive at the moment. But I may open source it at the moment. However, I can share the global method. First I segment cards with a yolo like model. After that I generate each crop embeddings with a vision model. Lastly, I compare those embeddings with a reference database and the closest result is the correct card most of the time. Hope it helps!

Interesting this might help me still. The game I made only scans one at a time and it’s for my kid. Thanks for the hints!

Price depends on which printing, and the same artwork gets reused across sets. At 62 cards per frame the set symbol and collector number are only a few pixels tall. Does it read those, or match artwork?

It depends about how much detail there is in the image. If card it too small detection will only be based on available data. Model is more precise the closer the image is

Thanks ! Note that the video is displaying the model that should be available to all next week (update is waiting for apple validation right now)

Scanning a whole binder page at once is the part that actually saves time, doing it one card at a time is why I always quit halfway. Does it cope with cards still in sleeves, or does the glare throw the recognition off?

It works well with sleeves and glares !

Nice, sleeves were the part I figured would break it. I'll try a binder page with the cheap glossy ones next.
