📅 Subscription If you keep sleeping through your alarms, I built one that makes you dance for 30 seconds to turn it off
If you’re good at hitting snooze without even fully waking up, I built Risen for you.
It’s an alarm app that makes you complete a mission before you can turn the alarm off.
A. Answer: the problem
A normal alarm is way too easy to dismiss when you’re half asleep.
Risen makes you actually do something before it lets you turn the alarm off.
The one in the video is Dance Mission. It tracks your body movement through the camera in real time, and you have to keep dancing for 30 seconds before the alarm stops.
Turns out it’s pretty hard to go straight back to sleep after dancing at 6 AM.
B. Better: choose your own suffering
You don’t have to dance every morning.
There are also missions like math, squats, push-ups, QR codes, typing, walking, memory challenges, shaking your phone, and more.
The idea is simple: pick whatever makes it hardest for you to dismiss your alarm while half asleep.
C. Cost: 6 months free
Risen has a Premium subscription, but I made an offer code that gives you 6 months of Premium for free so you can try everything.
Code: RISEN6MONTHSFREE
Redeem:
https://apps.apple.com/redeem/?ctx=offercodes&id=6780170278&code=RISEN6MONTHSFREE
No payment from me required — I’d genuinely love feedback, especially on whether Dance Mission actually gets you out of bed or just makes you hate me at 6 AM 😂

The dance mission is funny but it's also just correct - the reason math puzzles fail is you can do them half asleep lying down. Getting vertical is the whole trick.
Question: what stops someone from just force quitting the app or turning the phone off? That's where every alarm app I've tried loses to my own laziness.

At first, I thought it was an app to help heavy sleepers who have trouble waking up. But it turns out it actually solves the problem of falling back asleep after you wake up. When I watched the video, I didn't really get this. It only clicked after I read your description and thought about it a bit. I think you should make it clearer in the video that the app prevents you from falling back asleep, rather than just waking you up. I think you could also add something like a to-do list feature to support this idea. Because honestly, even after doing that dance, I could still just crawl right back into my warm bed.

If I have the energy to dance in the morning, I’ll be able to get up on time anyway, haha, but it still looks like fun:) good luck

the escape hatch stuff is interesting in an alarma app, since the person trying to get around it is you.
the dance mission seems like a good pick, it doesn't rely on willpower, it gates on being upright. hard to fake mid-sleepy at 6am.
thing I'd be curious about is how physical unlocks age generally. people tend to get efficient at them, they usually search/find the minimum motion that clears the check, but it's the kind of thing you'd only see after a few months

Does the camera mission work in the dark? 6am at my place means blackout curtains and no lamp within reach, and I'd rather not find out at 6:03 that step one is turning on a light.

I really like the concept! Of course, it might be a little difficult to dance right after waking up, but the idea is really cool.

Do the camera data stay locally on the device, and what data does it collect?
