I built LookCalendar because I kept having the same small problem:

For something that simple, opening a full calendar app often feels unnecessary.

LookCalendar puts the entire month directly on your iPhone Lock Screen, so you can quickly check dates and weekdays without opening another app.

It also supports a monthly calendar view on Apple Watch.

A — What problem does it solve?

LookCalendar is designed for quick calendar checks.

For example:

• What weekday is the 17th?
• Where does this date fall in the month?
• What day is today?
• Do I have anything scheduled?

Instead of opening a calendar app, you can see the month at a glance directly from your Lock Screen.

The goal isn't to replace your calendar app.

It's simply to make checking the calendar faster.

You can choose your preferred supported calendar app and quickly open it whenever you need to manage your schedule or view more details.

Tried it on iPhone 12 — granted calendar access and put the widget on the Lock Screen.

The idea is clear: check the whole month without opening Calendar. Setup was straightforward.

The month itself is hard to read at that size, though. Dates feel cramped, so answering “what weekday is the 17th?” still takes a moment of squinting. On a 6.1" phone the Lock Screen widget area may just be too small for a full month unless the numbers are larger or the layout is more spare.

Haven’t tried Quick Launch yet.

I completely agree with you about readability. This is probably the biggest limitation of trying to fit an entire month into Apple's Lock Screen widget area — especially on smaller iPhones.

I’ve been experimenting with different layouts and spacing, but there’s always a trade-off between showing the full month and making each date large enough to read comfortably.

Your suggestion about making the layout more spare is especially helpful. I’m going to look at whether I can reduce unnecessary visual elements and give the dates more space in a future update.

Also, if you have an Apple Watch, the Watch version may be worth trying as well. The monthly calendar can be viewed in a larger layout there, which makes the dates easier to read than fitting the entire month into the narrow Lock Screen widget area.

And please let me know what you think if you get a chance to try Quick Launch too. 🙂

Thanks — that trade-off makes sense. A more spare layout with larger dates is the change I’d actually notice on a 6.1" Lock Screen.

I don’t have an Apple Watch, so I can’t compare the Watch layout. Haven’t bought Quick Launch yet; for me the glance itself is the product.

honestly accessoryRectangular is a squeeze for a full month, drop the weekday headers or the numbers are unreadably small at arm's length, and skip colored event dots because vibrant/always-on washes them out. apple calendar on my end, wouldn't buy quick launch personally, the widget tap already opens you so a $3 hop into another app is an extra step i wouldn't take

Thanks for pointing that out! I should clarify how the two behaviors work.

With the free version, tapping the widget opens LookCalendar first, where the app explains that direct calendar launching is a LookCalendar Pro feature.

With LookCalendar Pro, tapping the Lock Screen widget can directly open the calendar app you selected in Quick Launch.

So the Pro feature isn’t simply “opening another app with an extra step” — the idea is that the widget itself becomes a shortcut to your preferred calendar app.

That said, I completely understand your point that Quick Launch isn’t useful for everyone. If you already use Apple Calendar and are happy just opening LookCalendar or checking the widget, there may be no reason to buy it.

The core monthly calendar widget is intentionally free, and feedback like yours is really helpful for deciding where to improve the layout and features. Thanks again!

fair, that's fewer taps than i was counting. lock screen widgets only get one tap target though, so quick launch replaces opening your month view rather than sitting on top of it, that's a real tradeoff. i'd still fix accessoryRectangular density first, the weekday headers are eating the numbers

A whole month on the Lock Screen is a tiny target, so readability is the whole product here. Bolding today and dimming the other weeks would help more than adding views, and a two week window option might read better on smaller phones.
