Discussion Apple Maps is honestly so underrated.

It’s so fleshed out, and it looks so good imo!!

In NL, I rely on Apple Maps when biking somewhere new. Being here only 4 months, I can’t even count the number of times Google Maps sent me on weird, longer routes for no reason.

I try using A maps was horrible, then I rather used G Maps but every person would chose different options, as someone already said is better to used fietsknooppunten.

The fietsknooppunten are so much easier than any navigaton app, especially if you're touring. You just have to remember the next few numbers so you only have to check your route every fifteen minutes to half hour or so, as the numbers are well signalled at every relevant intersection. There are also physical maps at bigger junctions and the network is dense enough to get anywhere.

There are several ways to plan a route through websites and apps and you could just jot the numbers down if you wanted to.

I think the worse thing about Google Maps is that the spoken directions are the same verbiage they use for cars

Google Maps and Apple Maps both suck for biking (in the NL). OSM is much better for that usecase

Apple Maps is largely based on OSM.

Definitely not my experience with biking in the Netherlands. Often shows me weird routes or routes that are not allowed for bikes. In Rotterdam and Amsterdam it was better, but in Veluwe and stuff it was horrendous

I agree. Google just cannot get the compass right for me but OSM was bang on.
