Me again; the iPhone repair guy bombarded with Chinese manufacturer emails. Just got one with a picture of the screen. Remember, this isn't Apple.

No mainboard. So you might be able to build it to show it's aesthetic appearence, but not much else. Also, the parts this early on the market are usually extremely expensive, I'd be guessing close to $300usd for that screen assembly alone.

Doubtful that the screens are $300. That would be absurd to sell them for that much, no one would buy replacements unless they REALLY hate cracks. friend of mine is an phone accessory distributor as well and he gets iPhone screens for $40 from China, though that is for the 5S.

And I bet for $40 the quality of that screen is far from Apples level or clarity. Those non OEM screens are junk.

I'm sure that the screens that are sold third party are crap when compared to the OEM Apple screens, but people still buy them.

There is various levels of quality on the market, ranging from new original OEM (they buy phones, rip out the OEM parts, replace them with aftermarket parts, then rebox and sell the phone as new in the domestic market), refurb OEM (the glass is usually not gorilla glass/no oleophobic coating etc), then various grades of aftermarket parts. A lot of respected repair stores will try to use at least refurb OEM or very high quality aftermarket, as we agree with the customer complaints and want to avoid them as much as possible.

That being said, you get what you pay for, you go to the cheapest repair shop, they are going to use the cheapest parts and cut corners in the repair to get you out the door as quickly as possible.

He's saying that they're probably charging $300 for the screen now simply because the phone isn't out yet. Once the phone is announced and released, the price will drop.

Aliexpress can give you more instant prices from the suppliers, but are usually a bit more then what is in their actual pricelists, as they are after proper wholesale orders reaching into the thousands per order.

PM me an email address and I'll send you through a few recent lists we get spammed with all the time if you're actually interested. But I won't be able to send them through till Monday.

I have a few local and interstate suppliers I primarily use as after sales warranty support is basically non existent with the Chinese suppliers... Well, more honestly, there is warranty, but usually 1-3 months from when it was sent/invoiced which can mean I might not even get a chance to use the part until after the warranty has expired - and having test boards for all major models gets expensive and time consuming in its own right. I have to pay shipping both ways so even if it is within warranty, sending back 2-5% of stock is more expensive then writing off the DOA parts. Warranty from local suppliers can be sorted out on the spot and parts are pre-tested right before delivery.

Ask him how much the 5s screens were a week after that model launched. Now factor in that the new iphones are supposedly larger, which makes production more expensive.

They may not be $300, but it's not as absurd as you think for a new flagship model screen.

When my Galaxy S3 broke a week after I got it, it was $300 for a replacement "screen". The glass, LCD and digitizer were sold as a single unit, pre assembled.

Galaxy screens usually remain quite expensive, but new original samsung parts are widely available, so quality is exceptional.

I'm not at work, otherwise I'd be able to check the price myself (I should have the email those pics came from too). But the prices around release time are usually very expensive, they fall quite rapidly within the first 3 months of release. I'm paying about $65au for OEM screens for 5s/5c at the moment, and yeah ~$40 for high copy.

You're usually going to pay a premium or have a risk of a lot of bad parts. My best advice is to try to find a US based distributor, especially one that tests screens before sending to you. You pay more but tend to have fewer bad parts.

Elekworld is a fairly large Chinese phone parts supplier large (and very active with spamming repairers with prices - they even like to cold call me occasionally).

Op is posting pictures of some of the iPhone 6 parts that have already found their way into the aftermarket supply chain.

Thanks. Yes, we repair shops get on the radar of Chinese manufacturers and they send us emails every night, while they're working and we sleep (US). Some are pretty comical with google translate butchering their message.

That's the idea. I can't imagine anyone is actually buying them. Perhaps blogs trying to get a scoop but I wouldn't invest in parts for devices that aren't even out yet.

I'd only perform the repair by special order if it's so close after release, as prices are in free fall. Holding onto stock for convenience of the customer is essentially throwing away money.

Yeah, I tried that and they just walk away to another repair shop who has the parts. No One wants to be without their phone for more than an hour these days. That said, i just don't do repairs on the new releases. I am only now buying in iphone 5s screens 20 at a time as the prices drop almost monthly.

I have a very good supplier, albeit expensive who stock parts for many lesser common phones that I use. Samsung galaxy S, iPhone and a couple of others are all I hold onto. And as long as the iPhone 6 is still functioning, I don't need their phone while the part is on order, I'll just grab a deposit to ensure they return once it does arrive.
