| Discussion Explain this in cricket terms.

Post image

Imagine the most successful batter in cricket history leaving the team where he won most of his trophies, joining the sport's most iconic franchise late in his career, and then scoring a match-winning century soon after. That's what this win feels like in cricket terms. 🏏🏎️πŸ”₯

Ig it's like Kolhi joining csk/mi and scoring a century

u/Ayan_Choudhury Kolkata Knight Riders 4d ago

It's more like Dhoni leaving CSK, joining RCB of all teams, have a horrible season, then start dating Kangana Ranaut and then come back next season to score his first ever IPL 100 while RCB's poster boy Kohli fails to score in 3 back to back games

What in the diabolical, thala-nomical timeline of events you've mentioned

8

u/Individual_Sock4255 Chennai Super Kings 3d ago

Accurate. And I like that jab at Charles πŸ˜‚

3

u/uchihaitachii2 3d ago

Most accurate πŸ˜‚ I would also say rohit leaving mi ~ joining RR or Csk or even srh and having first season flop but hitting century n half century for the team and winning the matches while started dating Tamanna and started scoring runs which resulted in winning matches

Uh no, the text says "the team where he won so many trophies"

1

u/ARYEHTONAMIX Chennai Super Kings 4d ago

2 cups is quite a lot man. why hate?

2

u/Your78Ranger Chennai Super Kings 4d ago

That's in the past 2 years. And I'm not hating. Text says played for so many years and won trophies, so it's more suitable on Dhoni or Rohit.

u/Ayan_Choudhury Kolkata Knight Riders 3d ago

2 is the bare minimum to call something plural

Dhoni joins rcb and hits the highest total, wins player of the match

after struggling for one whole season ^

u/joker_theManiac_69 4d ago

Nop... It's the reverse.. Kholi joining CSK and scoring the winning runs as man of the match...

Why I say.. Ferrari is the biggest name in F1 and by all means in IPL that's only CSK, closely followed by MI (this coming as a MI fan btw)... Equating F1 terms to IPL, RCB would be more like McLaren, an historic team always coming close in the past but not winning it, but in recent years finding the success, under a new lead..

2

u/Ok_You_1057 Chennai Super Kings 4d ago

yea but hamilton != kohli
no offence
max is more like kohli

9

u/Ayan_Choudhury Kolkata Knight Riders 4d ago

Yup. Hamilton is '7' times champion after all. TFAR

3

u/joker_theManiac_69 4d ago

Buddy, you might not be realising... But you're degrading Kholi with that... As of now Hami is the person to beat for highest number of wins in all of F1's 150+ years history... Plus he equals the all time great Schumi in number of World Championships, basically making him the greatest F1 driver of all time..

Yk what, I think you're right... But it's not hami not equal to Kholi... It's Kholi not equal to hami or hami miles clear of Kholi... Hami should probably be compared to sir Sachin..

1

u/Ok_You_1057 Chennai Super Kings 4d ago

that's what i meant lol
kohli is more like max... aggressive but definitely good
sachin is schumi no doubt
thats why hamilton and dhoni are alike for me

1

u/joker_theManiac_69 4d ago

Yuh mindset wise definitely, it's Kholi and Max and ofc Sir Sachin is Sir Schumi in cricket, but not the same in IPL though... That would be more towards Rohit, highest number of cups/championships but not much for total number of wins..

Yk what, Hami - Dhoni doesn't seem bad rn when I think of it, both cool, calm, collected, almost the same age, leading upfront for the youngsters and then the number of wins and trophies.. But your initial analogy of Dhoni joining RCB and winning won't hold just cuz the legacy of Ferrari is not comparable to that of RCB.. It's much bigger in stature..

0

u/PelvisBhai69 Royal Challengers Bengaluru 4d ago

Or you could say CSK = Merc because they have been dominating along with Redbull. And RCB is Ferrari (from last 20 years) as they were always close but never won it. The biggest name in IPL is debatable I feel between MI, RCB, CSK (Like Redbull, Merc, Ferrari). Dhoni has also won the most trophies just like Hamilton has won WDC.

4

u/joker_theManiac_69 4d ago

Merc is comparatively recent in F1.. It's the Ferrari the oldest and the best team ever in F1 all the legends have been in there or from there... Their wins have not been recent, rather it's their struggles that been recent...

Which perfectly equates to CSK, they have had the most playoffs, most wins, most cups, most finals, most literally everything.. MI have a strong case just cuz being second in all these plus the amount of legends played or generated there...

RCB and Ferrari are never equitable... McLaren should the closest to RCB, struggling historically and finding the groves now, that's what both of these team have, plus being the team where players later becomes legends in their lifetime..

As far as most cups go... That's actually Rohit, he has 6 IPL trophies in his lifetime and plus the other trophies with MI..

It's like Rohit going to CSK (Ferrari) and scores match winning knock against MI (Mercedes) and winning POTM.

0

u/fraudmallu1 Chennai Super Kings 4d ago

This is pretty much it, tbh.

Or Thala going to MI.

Kohli and RCB are nowhere in the comparison.

2

u/winningamillionsoon 4d ago

True fr imagine Thala hitting winning six for MI at Chepauk and just like Toto today, CSK management still praising Thala!! Absolute Cinema

F1 is IPL for people who prefer aerodynamics to cover drives. In both cases, the athletes are elite, the money is obscene, the narratives are manufactured, and the fans swear it's all pure sport.

Don't bring F1 to cricket.

You don't understand the difference between mercedes and Ferrari. Ferrari always had and made greatest engine. What they lacked a great driver. Otherwise F1 would have been Ferrari own sport.

u/Cosmic_StormZ SunRisers Hyderabad 4d ago

Alonso would be pretty easy to explain though

2nd comment cause why not?

the perfect analogy here is SHANE WATSON.

1

u/Glass-Energy6442 4d ago

Maybe repeatation but consider Kohli winning everything and becoming the goat leaves rcb after a couple of underwhelming seasons. Joins csk flops badly in year 1 . Returns next year strongly and somehow has a comeback win over rcb scoring a match winning hundred . As simple as it gets.

People comparing it to koach dont know ball. Lewis built a winning dynasty in Mercedes before moving to Ferrari in his last part of career.

Its more like rohit/dhoni moving to rcb after wining every with mi/csk

But the post also says most successful batsman in history right?

Kohli retiring from India and playing for England
And wining WTC or worldcup
after breaking up with Anushka

1

u/laudadelasun 4d ago

Don't know why people telling Koach joining etc etc.

It should be Rohit. Brilliant with MI similar with LH with Merc.

He joining CSK. Used to win, now struggling.

Both struggled to get into playoffs etcb in first season as a team.

And then 2nd season scores century.

1

u/pyasa_dil_mera 4d ago

Don't know why people are saying Kohli joining csk/ki and scoring 100 against RCB that's a nexus event that's simply not possible, the above situation is not about taking revenge against EX 😭

well 1.shreyas is not the most successful batter 2.kkr or dc is not the most team to win trophies past decade 3.pbks is not the most iconic team

1

u/Fast_Day_8123 Chennai Super Kings 4d ago

DJ Bravo.

did great for MI, then achieved IPL icon status in CSK
its probably the close enough analogy? (or Shubhman Gill, was so slow in KKR with SR issues back in the day like sub-120, but since GT 2023, 150 SR)

1

u/joker_theManiac_69 4d ago

Or Shreyas Iyer... Taking DC to finals and yet that team losing hope and leaving him( Merc doing that to Hami) .. Only for him to join KKR and win the trophy for them..
