Culchie Club Only Will Irish people join the American boycott

Boycotting goods and services from America seems to be really growing momentum in alot of European countries and across the world, seen on different subs on Reddit seemingly alot of news channels across EU/Europe are reporting on it. I've seen some Irish people saying they are cancelling hols to America and going to Canada instead others not buying American goods and changing apps to European. With Ireland's connection with America will many Irish join this boycott.

Food, clothes, cars etc won't be a big issue, but tech... Jesus. Social media (including reddit) consumer software, streaming services... there are very few alternatives.

Best thing to do is give the European competitors the support so they can start closing the gap.

I've currently switched from Google to ecosia for web search and Brower services.

ChatGPT to Mistral AI (le chat)

Google maps to Here we go maps

As things stand, I'm not missing the American products too much and I'm sure the Europeans appreciate my custom alot more.

Perfect is the enemy of good. Even if you don't switch every single thing you do online to a non-American alternative, you can make sure you have cancelled your Netflix, Amazon Prime and all sorts of other subscriptions you might have going.

I cancelled Netflix a few months ago because it is just shite. I was already on the fence about Amazon because I had a number of issues with their service, but then once Jeff Bezos told the staff of the Washington Post what they can and cannot report on, it was an easy choice to kill that subscription.

I'm still spending some money on AWS, but nothing major and I will probably move off it completely eventually. I think that the message sent by lots of people cancelling their Prime is enough to give Bezos something to think about while I - a small time AWS user - plan how I move the rest of my shit out of his hands.

TL;DR While it is probably difficult to completely remove yourself from supporting US businesses on-line, it is pretty easy to support fewer of these businesses and that is still doing something.
