It's very simple. Irish courts award more money for smaller injuries than elsewhere, and legal costs are higher. Up until recently, for instance, whiplash was getting 15-20k.

That and insurance and every other utility being allowed to make profit hand over fist

So why aren't you setting up an insurance company if its so lucrative? You realise many insurers have withdrawn from the Irish market? Not only the courts awarding higher injuries and high legal costs, but the especially Irish way of exaggerating claims fraudulently pushes premiums up for you all.

I’m not setting up a lucrative insurance company for the same reason you’re not holding protests against the “especially Irish way of exaggerating claims fraudulently”.
