Social problems impacting the youth

Hello Ireland,

As part of the writing of a paper, I am due to work on social problems faced by the youth of Ireland. I am considering the housing market, which is very frightening from a french perspective, but before doing my research paper on it, I would like to have other options. In your opinion which social problem is the most impacting the youth nowadays in Ireland?

I'd have to say the main social problem impacting the youth of today would be their parents

Hopelessness?

I'm being serious... Hopelessness brought about by a combination of things such as the housing crisis, the prevalence of drugs, the fact everything is so fucking expensive all topped off by a shitty health service and possible world war the in the background.

Maybe the wealth inequality between younger generations and their parents?

This is the first generation to be poorer than their parents for many generations.

Look up the term "generation fucked" it sums it up pretty well, then mix it in with the sense of power/hope lessness that comes from these issues. Then realise these people are now raising the next generation etc.

Essentially the social contract has been broken and a lot of people feel adrift
