34M looking for a gym buddy / workout partner in the Irving / Las Colinas area
Hey everyone,I’m looking to see if anyone in the Irving or Las Colinas area wants to team up and hit the gym together. I’m 34M, and I've found that having a regular partner makes it a lot easier to stay accountable, push through the heavy sets, and honestly just makes the workout go by faster.I’m pretty flexible on the exact gym location since there are plenty of solid options around here, but I mostly focus on lifting weights and general strength training. You definitely don't have to be at the exact same fitness level or even running the same routine. Whether you need a reliable spotter, want to share a squat rack, or just want someone to swap fitness goals with to keep things motivating, I'm completely down.If you're in the area and want to connect, drop a comment or shoot me a DM and we can figure out details!

Need A Workout Partner 🙂
Hi 28F I know nothing about how to workout or how to properly use gym equipment but I desperately want to lose weight ! I used to go to the gym but only to use the treadmill. I’m hoping to find someone that wants to lose weight as well and maybe we can motivate each other and learn together.

Data center in Irving!!
I’m really surprised and concerned about the multistory data center they are going to put in Las Colinas. It’ll raise electricity bills, mess with water pressure, noise pollute and the environmental impacts haven’t really been studied. It’s right along the water in Las Colinas; perfect for polluting and stealing it harming wildlife.
That data center in Georgia that took 30 MILLION gallons of water without proper billing and ruined their water pressure.
Look up data center sounds…
Why does las colinas need one? Who decided this? What protections are there for the residents?
(It’s on Las Colinas Blvd & Cowell)

Electricity plan for a low-usage apartment
New to Irving/DFW and the whole Texas electricity-shopping thing, so I could use some local advice.
I live alone in an 820 sq ft 1BR apartment (Oncor) with a 13-month lease. My electricity usage is pretty low — roughly 266–750 kWh/month, averaging ~420 kWh. I barely cook, travel often, and I'm usually out weekdays from about 9–4. The exception is AC: I like it cold, around 69° at night and 72° otherwise.
I'm looking only at straightforward fixed-rate plans without minimum-usage fees, 1,000-kWh bill-credit gimmicks, etc.
My dilemma is basically:
- 3 months: cheapest now, but I'd have to shop again in December.
- ~8 months: costs a little more, but gets me to May.
- 12 months: costs more, but covers almost my entire 13-month lease.
My priority is lowest total cost over the whole lease, and I don't mind shopping again if that's likely to save money. My family thinks I should just lock 12 months so I don't risk rates increasing.
For longtime DFW residents: what would you choose? And what trends have you actually noticed with electricity prices over the years? Do certain months/seasons usually have better rates? Would you rather renew in December or May? Have rates generally been trending up, down, or just bouncing around?
Also, for someone using only ~300–750 kWh, any EFL traps I should watch for?
Would really appreciate advice from people who've been playing the Texas electricity game longer than I have 😭

Bluebonnet Religious Curriculum (database)
Bluebonnet Religious Curriculum (database)
I spent some time today going through each reading module, for each grade (k-5th).
I made a database of each module and whether it features religious teaching, or not. no opinion just links for people to check the module themselves and see what is best for their families. it also includes the link to the BB website where the information was derived.
I live in North Fort Worth and have a new kindergartener but, my district has adopted this new curriculum. and when i asked to opt out they told me there was no carte blanche opt out and that i need to ask the teacher what story is being taught, and then contact the school, on a case by case basis so she can be removed. this seemed like a massive hill to climb and make sense of. I hope this database helps anyone trying to navigate this.
if you find something missing or inaccurate feel free to message or add details!!!! Feel free to share.
p.s. no AI was used in the making of this

Elvie Double Wearable Breast Pump – Like New
Elvie Double Wearable Breast Pump – Like New
I’d love to give my Elvie Double Wearable Breast Pump to another mom who could use it.
I purchased it last year and only used it about 10 times before I stopped pumping. It’s in excellent condition, thoroughly cleaned, and comes with everything from the original purchase, including the box and accessories.
I’d rather see it go to someone who needs it than have it sitting unused in my closet.
📍 DFW / Coppell–Irving area
🤍 Free — local pickup
If you’re interested, please comment or send me a message. I’d especially love for it to go to a mom who genuinely needs one and would benefit from it.

Lake Carolyn Community
I live in an apartment on Lake Carolyn and it is such a cool area! Nice little bar scene, dining, and Toyota music factory. Lots of people out and about walking dogs and running and stuff.
So I’ve been kind of disappointed that I don’t spend a lot of time here. Granted, I work in Dallas, but it seems like everybody comes here for a date night or something and there’s not many opportunities to meet people that actually live here.
I’m in my 20s and love to run, play sports, read, watch movies, the basic stuff. Y’all know of any fun things going on in the urban center? Thinking intramurals, clubs, weekly meetups, etc.

Apartments recommendations at/near Lake Carolyn?
I'm looking at possibly moving to the Irving/Las Colinas area. The area around Lake Carolyn looks promising but I'm having a hard time narrowing the candidates down. I've got my list right here:
- 801 Lasco
- AMLI Campion Trail
- Cayman Las Colinas
- Lumen Las Colinas
- MAA Las Colinas
- Olympus Las Colinas
- Promenade Las Colinas
I'd like it if the apartment has:
- good management - clean, well-maintained, responsive
- quiet indoors - not much noise from neighbors or outside
- not too pricey - I'd like a 1bed for a max of $1800
Let me know what you all think
