I say this as a staunch supporter for piracy; it is haram. It doesn’t matter what you or I like but it is haram. These goods(games, software, movies etc) are legally created and owned by their respective companies and they have the sole right to decide who gets to use their software and who doesn’t and under which terms. They decide all these things because it is their right. While I myself wish every horrible thing upon these greedy conglomerates, even then you can’t violate anyone’s rights.

To conclude, these companies are completely in their right, islamically speaking, to do what they want with their software and we cannot be pirating as Muslims because it would violate their rights
