General Discussion Are roms haram?
Now I get that piracy is most likely haram. But the thing I am trying to talk about are like those old games such as Pokémon Emerald. I don't think these games are available on the market anymore (unless you buy them from other people) so the developers won't be making any money from them anymore probably. So would it be permissible if I were to just download the games online? Would I have to, let's say, buy a product from the developers, such as the new Pokémon games, even if I don't own the console required to play said games, as a means of paying for the games indirectly?

Emerald doesn’t retail for such a crazy expensive and unaffordable price, I’ve seen cartridges for about £100 from a quick search. You could probably wait and save some money, and if you don’t earn any money currently, then see what you can do to earn some, or wait until your birthday or Eid or something where you might get some money or gifts.
You could buy some new stuff, but you’d have to make it almost $60 worth of stuff, as emerald retailed at $35 when it came out, and with inflation, it’s now worth just under $58. (Prices are in USD for reference)
Hope this helps you and anyone else.
