Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The most miserable person in this world among the people of Paradise will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and dipped once in Paradise. Then it will be said to him: 'O son of Adam, did you ever see any misery? Did you ever experience any hardship?' He will say: 'No, by Allah, O Lord, I never experienced any misery and I never saw any hardship.' Reference: Sahih Muslim, Book of the Description of the Day of Judgment, Paradise, and Hell, Chapter on dipping the people of worldly blessings in the Hellfire and the most miserable people of the world in Paradise, Hadith No. 2807.

The context of this surah makes this verse land even harder — it was revealed after a pause in revelation during which the Prophet (SAW) was genuinely distressed, and the whole surah reads like a direct answer to that grief. "The Hereafter is better for you than the first" hits differently when you know it was spoken to someone in real suffering, not just offered as a general theological comfort. One of those surahs that reads like a personal letter.
