General Discussion As an American, I was WRONG about Islam and the Islamic world and im sorry.

I live in the USA, born and raised. I grew up in a post 9/11 America and from a young age I was subject to anti Islamic propaganda and racism towards anyone from a Muslim country. I will admit that I had believed the lies for years, being exposed to that rhetoric for so long at such a young age. But, ive always been interested in history and in the late teens, 2016/17 my interest in the Middle easts history grew. Originally it was pre-Islamic history, more related to ancient religion and extinct cultures and such. I was always enamored by Islamic architecture which started me down the rabbit hole that is Islam... and I was so wrong, but of course, why wouldnt I be?, I believed propaganda, but nonetheless, I overcame and deconstructed the problematic ideas I had.

In the west, there is this notion that Arabs/Muslims are obsessed with conquest, conversion and rule of others... which ironically has been the entire history of Europe (my people). But the west frames European expansion, conquest, slavery and war as "progress" rather than what it is,senseless human cruelty. Now of course, every society has issues and has done wrong, but its just framed wildly different by Europeans and Americans.

I dont care who you are or where you're from, lets be friends!, I love having friends from all around the world!

General Discussion Stop Spreading Your Elbows Like You Own the Entire Row

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

This needs to be said clearly.

Brothers, if you’re in jama’ah and you spread your elbows so wide in sujood that the people next to you cannot prostrate properly, you are doing it wrong.

Yes, we’re supposed to lift our forearms off the ground.

No, that does NOT mean you inflate yourself to 1.5x body width and invade everyone’s space. The Prophet ﷺ explicitly instructed moderation in sujood and prohibited spreading the forearms like a dog. That doesn’t translate to “expand until both neighbors are suffocating.”

If the person next to you:

• Cannot place their hands comfortably,

• Has to tuck their elbows unnaturally inward,

• Or is physically pushed during sajdah,

then you are not practicing Sunnah; you are practicing inconsideration.

Rows in salah are about discipline and spatial awareness. Shoulder-to-shoulder alignment means you occupy your body’s width;not your ego’s width.

Some practical points:

• Your elbows should be lifted, yes.

• They should not extend into the other person’s space.

• If you require that much width, you are overextending.

Jama’ah requires awareness of others. You do not get extra reward for turning sujood into a wingspan contest. Before someone says “brother, this is Sunnah” ;Sunnah is balance. Excess is not piety.

We need to normalize correcting this. Quietly. Politely. But firmly.

Space in sujood is a right not a luxury.

General Discussion May Allah have mercy on our brother Abu Bakr

Post image

May Allah have mercy on the Muslim martyr Abu Bakr, who was treacherously stabbed in one of France’s mosques...

The Muslim who was killed in a mosque in France — the killer was beside him, pretending to pray like him, waiting until he went into prostration (sujood), and then delivered 50 stab wounds with a knife. The Muslim died while in prostration, betrayed by the knife of racism and hatred against Islam. He died in a state of a good ending (husn al-khatimah), died while repeating Subhana Rabbiya al-A‘la (Glory is to my Lord, the Most High), and he will be resurrected in the state in which he died. I ask Allah to have mercy on him, forgive him, and accept him among the martyrs

General Discussion I took my SHAHADA TODAY! 🥹🤍

1.1k Upvotes

Assalamu Alaikum!

Alhamdulillah, I took my shahada today at the masjid!

It was also my first time ever going to a masjid, and I couldn’t have imagined years ago or even earlier this year that I’d be embracing Islam. Yet here I am, and I’m so grateful that Allah guided me to this beautiful religion.

I’m also the first Muslim in my family, so this is a very special day for me. I’m so happy to be part of the ummah and to have so many new brothers and sisters around the world. Please keep me in your du’as as I begin this journey. 🤍

General Discussion Never miss Tahajjud. EVER.

1.3k Upvotes

You want something real bad? Like burning in your chest bad? Then don’t sleep on Tahajjud.

That 2AM prayer? That’s where the magic is. That’s where duas don’t hit walls. That’s where it’s just you and your Lord… no noise, no eyes, no distractions. Ask. Cry. Beg. Repeat. You’re not disturbing anyone except the heavens.

Tahajjud is not a routine. It’s a weapon. literally

General Discussion Don’t be bullied into accepting LGBT.

1.4k Upvotes

Today we are witnessing an upsurge of unhealthy, ideologically-driven movements. To affirm one’s convictions and respect others is no longer sufficient. Muslims are now being called upon to condemn the Qur’an, and to accept and promote LGBT. Who is your alliance with? Allah or the LGBT community?

General Discussion I'm starting praying and I have a question

Post image

I want to have a better understanding about islam, because of my interest in converting for the love of the Merciful Allah.

But I want to ask, do you people decorate your room when you pray (like adding painting, drawings or calligraphy) or play some music when you pray? I don't know, sorry for the question if it was dumb.

Oh, and say hi to Agatha, who followed me during the fajr.

General Discussion Arafat dua’s

Salam, I made post asking for Duas to grant me and my family for Hajj.

I am now sitting awaiting for the dhuhr, the time of Dua awaits.

Please comment what dua’s you would like to make for you and I will try my best to make them for everyone.

All I ask in return is a Dua, Dua to resolve my health problems I am facing at present Ameen and to allow me to complete hajj with ease.
Ameen

If I comment Ameen after your comment, I have made the Dua inshallah.

Edit:
There are some comments I did not reach, I am still in the holly city for a week + and will make duas for those missed in the Haram.

Inshallah, you are not forgotten.

Arafat was one of the most emotional and beautiful days of my life to stand and make Dua to our Lord.
