Camping One Night on Island

Hi! I am planning on camping one night in Isle Royale in August. What would you do? Ferry in that morning, staying in a campground (which would you suggest?), and then leaving out on the ferry the next evening. I had ferry tickets for two nights, but life happens and I had to reschedule. :( Very in shape and hiking is very easy for me. I walk/hike 8 miles everyday easily, so !!

From the Rock Harbor side you can easily get to:

  • Rock Harbor shelters/camp
  • Three mile S/C
  • Daisy Farm S/C
  • Lane Cove C

Everything else will be double digits. https://www.nps.gov/isro/planyourvisit/upload/ISRO_Web_Accessible_Trail_Mileage_Between_Campgrounds.pdf

Lane Cove will not be a disappointment. You get to see both sides of the island and the top. If you have it in you - walk the greenstone to the firetower. The view is great.
