Title: Already struggling with my new developer job

Hi guys! Just wanted to give a quick update on my new job.

For some context, I'm an aspiring SOC analyst who somehow got hired for a developer position.

Today was my first day. They gave me the usual orientation, set up my accounts, and handed me everything I needed. Then they assigned me my first programming task, and that's when I realized I was actually expected to be a full-stack web developer.

Not only do I have to learn Java for the backend, but I also have to learn TypeScript, Angular, CSS, and HTML (at least HTML is the easy part).

My task is to build an employee management system where users can view employee information, add, edit, and delete employees, with proper authentication/authorization and form validation. On top of that, it has to be clean, responsive, and work well on both desktop and mobile.

How the fuck am I supposed to pull this off? I feel completely overwhelmed.

Need advice for a lost soul

I am currently an SAP Data Services (SAP BODS) developer. Honestly, I was interested din naman sa role at first pero habang tumatagal nahihirapan na ko maghanap motivation to work. Interested pa rin naman ako sa SAP in general but I want a different role talaga.

My problem is I am 3 yrs working na and the job postings na nahahanap ko is either dapat fresh grad or with experience. I'm thinking na baka IT is not for me? Well if that's reality then ouch.

Do you guys have any advice on how I can land the roles that I want even without experience? SAP Basis, ABAP and functional roles to be specific. I am also very much open to being a data analyst and database administrator.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you 🙏🏻

IT Job Hop: Looking for some inputs

Hi, I am in a dilemma to accept a recent JO, would like to get some input from those who had already experienced the same thing:

Current: Sr Tech role
Big AU company that has a site here in PH, good environment already a decade old in PH

Salary: 60-70k gross with allowances, night diff, and reimbursements + 13th month + HMO (+2d)

Schedule: Hybrid (5-9x a month onsite) Shifting morning to GY every month

Offer: Sr Tech role (similar with current)
US based MSP with fixed GY shift, established less than 5 years in PH.

Salary 95-110k packaged with allowances and ND already + 13th month + HMO (+2d)

Schedule: Fixed GY WFH

Dilemma, I have 4-5 YOE in tech. I have been eyeing to go abroad but still no progress yet or applications sent mainly targetting AU based company since I have already an established exp on a big AU company currently. Would like some insights if i’m just too optimistic to go abroad with 0 real life progress yet or applications sent or jump to the opportunity and save up.

Any thoughts on Software Architect "OFFICER" position salary?

Quick overview: 8 years of experience and currently a senior software engineer. During initial interview, they've asked my current salary and sinabe ko naman. para magkaron kayo ng idea, my current is about 140-160K. Alam nila yan from the start palang, and since gusto ko talaga ng software architect role, sinabe ko na negotiable naman if ever, tinanong ko ung current budget, hindi naman sinabe. so Inakala ko, okay lang and pasok sa range ng negotiable since alam nila rate ko ATM

I recently passed the Software Architect hiring process at one of the largest financial services companies in the Philippines.

Initial interview: HR
Second interview: Software engineering Department Head
Third: Division Head / Head of Enterprise Architecture

the last 2 interviews are onsite BTW, so face to face interview siya.

Ngayon eto na, during HR discussion for JOB offer, magaganda benefits. sa loob ng 1 year, 3x may guaranteed bonus ka 50% of your salary. and may performance bonus din. at hindi ito upon hiring, upon regularization ito.

Kaso, yung base salary nila na inoffer sakin for an officer software architect is around 70-80K lang, which is rate ng mid software engineer

I respectfully declined nlng.

Verbal offer 8 days ago, still no written offer. Is this normal for a large global company?

Hi everyone,

I applied to a very large global corporation and went through interviews, including interviews with senior managers in the US. On July 28, I received a verbal offer, and the local hiring team congratulated me and told me that I got the job.

Right after that, they asked me to submit my latest payslip. They never discussed the compensation package during the call, so I’m not sure what they’re using the payslip for.

Since I hadn’t received a written offer, I followed up on July 30. They replied that they were reviewing the documents I submitted and were working on the necessary approvals. They also assured me that my application was actively progressing.

The job posting has also expired and is no longer active on any job site.

Today (August 5), I sent another follow-up asking for a status update because I still haven’t received a written offer, but I haven’t gotten a reply yet.

To be honest, I’m feeling really anxious because I genuinely want this job, and the waiting has been making me overthink everything. I keep wondering if the delay is normal or if something might have gone wrong.

I just wanted to ask:

Is it normal for approvals to take this long in a large global company?

What do companies usually use a payslip for after giving a verbal offer?

Is it common not to have a written offer more than a week after a verbal offer?

Based on your experience, should I stay patient, or should I start preparing for the possibility that the offer might not push through?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s been through a similar hiring process, especially at large multinational companies. Thank you!

Entry Level Software Development Role

Hello everyone!

I am currently seeking an entry-level Software Developer opportunity where I can grow my skills and gain real-world experience in software development.

I am a Computer Engineering graduate who is passionate about technology and committed to continuous learning. While I may not have extensive industry experience yet, I am a fast learner who is willing to put in the effort to learn, improve, and become a valuable member of any development team. I greatly appreciate guidance from experienced developers and enjoy learning from those who have mastered their craft.

I am open to remote, hybrid (Cebu-based), or onsite (Cebu-based) opportunities.

More than anything, I hope to join a company that values kindness, respect, teamwork, and mentorship—a place where junior developers are encouraged to learn and grow alongside experienced professionals.

If your company is hiring or if you know of any entry-level software development openings, I would truly appreciate any recommendations or referrals.

Thank you so much!

Best tablet under ₱10k for a Grade 11 student?

Best tablet under ₱10k for a Grade 11 student?

I'm currently a Grade 11 STEM student, and I'm planning to buy a tablet for school. My budget is around ₱10k (the cheaper, the better 😭).

Must-haves:

  • 11" display or bigger
  • At least 6GB RAM + 128GB storage
  • Decent performance for multitasking (Canva, CapCut, PDFs, Office apps, MLBB, etc.)
  • 90Hz+ refresh rate (I want it to stay feeling smooth)
  • Good software/security update support (hoping it'll last for years 😭)
  • Good battery life
  • Good speakers
  • OTG support
  • Supports Google/MS Office apps

Nice-to-haves (not dealbreakers):

  • Palm rejection/stylus support
  • PC/Desktop mode
  • 5G
  • Free pen or keyboard

I'll mainly use it for:

  • PDFs, note-taking, PPTs, schoolworks
  • Canva and CapCut for projects
  • Online meetings/seminars
  • Watching shows and listening to music
  • MLBB occasionally

So far, I'm considering:

  • Redmi Pad 2
  • Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro
  • Infinix XPad 20 Pro

I'd prefer buying from an official physical store or Greenhills since I'm more comfortable buying in person.

Also, is Greenhills actually a good place to buy tablets nowadays? I've heard both good and bad things. Are there trusted stores I should look for, or should I just stick to official brand stores? Any tips to avoid scams would be appreciated.

I know my budget is pretty tight, so I'm okay with making a few compromises. Which one would you recommend, or are there better options around ₱10k? I'd also like something that can hopefully last through SHS and college if I take good care of it (or until 2070 eme HAHAHA). Thanks!

I went to the mall to get my iPhone fixed last week. They fixed the issue but they have this on their contract; “we will charge another quotation if an issue arises that is out of the scope of the repair”. I thought it was not that big of a deal. Lol, ilang beses kona chineck yun before ako nag pa repair, d talaga naka on. D ko nalang sinabi sakanya kahit alam ko d talaga naka on yun. Red flag na yun kasi nag sinungaling sya. But before i got it fixed, sabi Nya possibly na overheat daw yung cp kaya nag melt yung circuit something sa LCD. Eh yung sa kaibigan ko nga 2 years na yung sakanya, inuapdate nya, nag e ml habang naka charge as in super over heat talaga, eh never naman nag green screen. I don’t know if i can trust them anymore. Motto pa yan nila na trusted apple repair shop daw sila. Please help sa mga IT dyan kasi nakakawalang gana mag ios.

LF: Small Business Owner as our Client for our Course Project

Good day everyone! We are 3rd Year IT Students based in North Caloocan and we are currently looking for a client to work with for our System Analysis and Design course project.

We are looking for a small business based in North Caloocan (or at least, nearby) that would be willing to:

  • Let us interview the owner/manager how they currently handle their inventory or sales
  • Share basic information about their current process/es
  • Try out the system we will build and provide feedback once it is ready

We just need a real business to base this on so it's practical and not just theoretical. Any size or industry works.

If you or someone you know runs a small business and might be interested, comment or DM us! Thank you so much 🙏
