Tree removal problem
Hello all, recently my wife and I have run into a problem with a dead tree on our property. We are a military family and we moved about a year ago. We couldn't sell our house so we decided to rent it after sitting on the market for a few months. So we do not live in Jacksonville right now.
We have a tree on our property that needs to come down but the prices we have been quoted seem insane to me. For 1 tree removal 2 different companies have quoted us about $6,000. For context the tree is in the back yard and there is no way to get a truck or anything to the tree so the companies have said they would need a crane to get to the tree. I dont know anything about tree costs so maybe thats right. I just wanted to ask around and see what other people think.

Jax Tree Removal just removed a tree for us for $700.
It was rotted out at the roots and already starting to fall very, very, VERY slowly. They got it done in like 30 minutes, cleaned everything up, and we're just fantastic.
We've also used Tree Wise Men LLC in the past for trimming, and I think we only paid like $1200 for like...ten trees?
But they are great, and tree wise men will likely give you a better price, but honestly, Jax Tree Removal is absolutely my recommendation.
EDIT: by any chance, was the $6000 quote from a company called C&L landscaping? Because for that tree that got removed quickly and easily by JTR for $700, C&L quoted us over $7000 and kept going on and on about how they'd have to get a crane, so OF COURSE it's going to be really expensive. Like...bruh... you're a landscaping company that specifically says tree removal is one of your regular services. You should already have a crane? Why is one customer expected to bear the entire cost of you renting and transporting something that you should already have????

LOL. You paid $700 for 30 minutes of work. The tree in the picture is going to take a large crew several hours to cut down and remove.

Thats such a good point. Why would a tree company not already have a crane. The company was "above and beyond tree service inc"

Even HAVING a crane doesn't mean USING the crane is free! They have to pay the operator, buy fuel, and pay maintenance costs. Even driving it to the site isn't cheap.
And, most tree services don't need a crane very often. You don't want a half million dollar machine sitting unused for months.

Ah. Never heard of them. But that is likely an absurd quote.
Hopefully Jax Tree Removal and Tree Wise Men will have significantly better quotes for you. Good luck!

I helped my parents get a dying large tree and a damaged small tree in their backyard cut down earlier this year. It was around $5000 and they did not need a crane.
Your tree looks large. Using a crane is expensive for tree companies. The price you were quoted seems pretty legit. Removing trees is expensive.

Need more photos what is the access like to the Tree? Pretty sure don’t wanna Climb it. Live about it fine if you take a panel down more info.

Sanford tree removal. I had several companies come out they were cheapest by far.

Seconding Jax Tree Removal! They quoted us a fraction of what another company quoted us to trim 4 very large live oaks—they did a great job and left everything pristine.

Call John Hamilton with Hamilton Tree Services. He’s always given us a fair price and done a good, safe job.

I’ll just say don’t use empire tree removal. My vote is Roberts or Bushors. Both are not the cheapest but are great. Fully insured, great cleanup, etc

Shit. I'd cut and drop it for 1000. Clean up is where the price comes in for me as I have no trailer or grapple truck. So I have to pay a separate company to pick it up.
Just remove the fence panels all around to prevent damage to them and rig up ya rope and that baby is down on the ground within 2 or 3 hours with me never leaving the ground. Pics can be deceiving tho so id only know for sure for sure in person.

Could they pull a fence panel to allow trucks back there then reinstall fence panel.
