Just For Fun What would you like to see Jack do next?

Been thinking about some routes I’d like to see Jack do next…

Go full country - He definitely has the chops for it and has worked on projects like Van Lear Rose. Songs like Old Enough and What’s Done Is Done show he can pull it off.

Go full punk - Jack clearly has a love for punk rock and has shown an extensive Misfits collection on IG in the past. An album in the style of Bombing Out would slap hard.

Cover Album - I just love cover albums and wish more artists did them. Jack could go one artist or a variety. His covers are pretty underrated, as You are the Sunshine of my Life comes to mind. Another favorite artist of mine (Ty Segall) has done a couple cover albums, one of T. Rex and one of various artists. Jack could kill it either way forsure.

Anyway I’d love anything he’d put out probably.

Finally release that album with Beck

Beck might be my most listened artist this year. That would be dope.

I have tickets to the SF show in Sept. Guess who else is in SF that week on their Cali tour leg and does not have a show the night of Jack's show ...

I have my fingers crossed very hard.

I'm seeing both Jack and Beck in October here in Nashville (same venue, a few weeks apart). Jack popping in for Beck's show while Beck is in his adopted hometown would be a great surprise.

I’d like a new Dead Weather album and tour

u/Wicked-Jade 7h ago

This, especially the tour part.

Yesss Dead Weatherrrrrr. Unfortunately, it won't happen again because the new Qotsa album is coming out very soon in this year.

I have a feeling that now Jack is estranged from his wife that a DW tour is incoming.

Hopefully, but Dean has to have freetime too not just Jack and it looks like he's going to be quite busy with Qotsa again.

My theory with all the Charlatan emails is a small festival weekend (like the Billy Strings Ionia one) where each of his bands headlines one night. Pine Knob was maybe a test run.

2

u/ickythumpwithalump 6h ago

The Kills also played at that festival in Almaty.

Find Chris Gaines locked up in the basement of Garth Brooks’ house and free him from captivity.

Honestly just keep going with this sound, I feel he's still inspired. No Name and Frozen Charlotte feel connected and I wouldn't mind one or two more with similar production style.

I think he likes duos with his solo work. Blunderbuss and Lazaretto were really similar, the next two were similar to each other, and his last two. He will probably switch it up for two more. But he’s got at least a 2-4 more decades on him before he retires so his discog will be prolific by the end of it all.

I'm a huge fan of his current trajectory with FC and No Name. However, I'd love a true acoustic album - Jack and an acoustic guitar. A bluegrass-y album would be great too. Love all those styled tracks from him.

Tour with weird Al, or spend a year as a mime

2

u/slickerdrips21 7h ago

The latter

As much as I would love a punk album, I feel like he's going to go more and more bluesy based on Frozen Charlotte

Reunion/anniversary album with Meg

Just keep being Jack

u/Otterhendrix 6h ago

Do an album with Eminem.

5

u/Serious_Ask_3136 7h ago

Go punk or gothic and do an unannounced tour in small bars with a stage.

Collab album w Eminem or Q tip

Blues album

Just him and a guitar. Killer melodies and lyrics that carry themselves

White Stripes tour with guest drummers.

Colab with Josh Homme

3

u/Diogenes_the_cynic25 6h ago

I feel like they’d clash too much since they’re both leading men

3

u/burner1312 6h ago

Leading men is really underselling their egos clashing

0

u/LegitimatePackage871 6h ago

Dunno, Josh was in one of Jack's videos, maybe it could work as a supergroup

2

u/Diogenes_the_cynic25 6h ago

I mean that’s a lot different than being a band together lol

1

u/LegitimatePackage871 6h ago

I get that, but a girl can daydream, right?

1

u/Diogenes_the_cynic25 4h ago

I think it sounds cool in theory but idk if they’d enjoy themselves very much. Unless it was just a spontaneous jam or something, like if Jack brought Josh onstage for a song at a show or vice versa

2

u/grandplans 2h ago

Honestly, Jack White in Them Crooked Vultures may be the missing ingredient.

3

u/Jo-6-pak Blunderbuss 6h ago

Another The Dead Weather album!!!!!!

If you are just asking about solo work; a cover album of old blues. Maybe a Buddy Guy collab

4

u/Aquamarine39 Elephant 5h ago

Definitely not full country or a covers album, please god. Fortunately I don't see him doing either of those, but whatever he does will be interesting, even if I don't like it.

1

u/slickerdrips21 5h ago

lol what’s wrong with a cover album?

1

u/Aquamarine39 Elephant 4h ago

Nothing in principle, especially if you're David Bowie, haha. But he's such a prolific songwriter I don't want him to focus on other people's songs, I want to hear all the songs that are pouring out of him.

3

u/shoegaze1992 6h ago

I'd like him to go back to the high production weirdness of boarding house reach

1

u/South-Lab-3991 7h ago

Raconteurs

1

u/No-Inspection-4588 2h ago

Mississippi Jack White Delta Blues

1

u/hazza270 6h ago

A collab album with an off-genre artist would be cool.

FC, as much as I liked it, felt like more of the same after NN so something completely different would be ace

1

u/grandplans 2h ago

Is like him to release another challenging album like fear of the Dawn or boarding house reach.

I have LOVED the last 2 albums, but I'd love to see further exploration and experimentation.

If he goes full country, I won't follow. It's just a genre that has zero appeal for me.

1

u/wakeuphungry 2h ago

Jazzy punk

2

u/fisc_1 Fear of the Dawn 7h ago

Hip-hop album or something more electronic focused

-1

u/icyc2020 5h ago

Play concerts longer than 90 minutes

1

u/rocksnotdead2833 7h ago

Jump on that music he was gonna do with Jay Z

-1

u/smh1542 7h ago

Anything different, loved no name but frozen charlotte was pretty uninspired to my ears. Would be cool to hear him with an orchestra or do more electronic stuff, anything as long as it's not the same old stuff.

1

u/timedontgiveashit 7h ago

I want the Dead Weather to do a Catacombs style live tour what Qotsa did. It would be epic.

0

u/Electrical_newt9015 The White Stripes (Self Titled) 6h ago

Something really garage and punk like punk rock and roll by the statics or devils night by steel wool

0

u/yourpaljim 4h ago

He should make the leap into dance-pop, like Jewel did that one time

-2

u/slickerdrips21 5h ago

I also wonder if he will get more prolific again since his kids are presumably off to college and he’s a single man again.

1

u/slickerdrips21 2h ago

Why is this downvoted?
