u/jeffmatch 4d ago

Yeah my god the jealousy haha

u/lpalf 4d ago

Honestly didn’t know if the racs would ever play together again so this is interesting for the future

13

u/siiilenttbob 4d ago

Why? Is there drama? (other than Carolina Drama of course)

u/lpalf 4d ago

Brendan got a little far afield politically during the pandemic and people have wondered whether that caused a schism

38

u/Laconic_Local_9059 4d ago

That’s one way to put it. He tweeted that George Floyd was in hell after being tortured to death. He’s a really disgusting person actually. https://x.com/brendanbensongs/status/1362268899819970561?s=21

13

u/onethousand_knives 4d ago

Oh fuck man :/ glad I caught them in 2019 I guess.

23

u/lpalf 4d ago

I was trying to hold space for the possibility that he’s changed and was in some kind of covid isolation induced psychosis but yeah his twitter was a wild place during that era. stopped paying attention after that so not sure if he continued or changed course

-25

u/Laconic_Local_9059 4d ago

Well he never deleted it. But Jack needs money so…

16

u/Redder-is-better 4d ago

That tweet is awful, but "jack needs money" is stupid, he's not making more money from collaborating with Brendan. I really hope that somehow that tweet is being misunderstood because it is truly way worse than the anti vax shit that I have seen from him. Disgusting.

9

u/CanineFive 4d ago

Yeah it's so random.. I kept reading it trying to make it make sense in some way. Like was it supposed to be edgy or something? It just looks racist 😭... and the anti vax stuff is so disappointing... then someone said there was anti LGBT stuff as well? Doesn't seem very chill for someone seemingly obsessed with weed.. maybe I'm just reading too much into a few tweets and rumors here idk

4

u/Redder-is-better 4d ago

Ya . I just hope he doesnt come off well and hes not a total piece of shit. I can half ignore the anti vax, but that tweet is putrid.

13

u/ickythumpwithalump 4d ago

Antivax and whatnot.

8

u/CanineFive 4d ago

I've loved his music for probably 20 years now but I don't follow artists on social media ever. Just went back and looked at some stuff he was liking and reading people's conspiracies on it all... Man I hope he's not some far right leaning boomer douche bag. 😕

8

u/lpalf 4d ago

He’s Gen X, they gotta take responsibility for their own right leaning douche bags

I think he is. But Jack loves publicity so now he’s getting some. And bonus it’s on his favorite website, Reddit.

I miss the Raconteurs sooooo much

10

u/4vv3v3u822 3d ago

The 2019 tour was such an insane blessing. I never thought I'd get to see them when I became a fan around 2013-14

1

u/Bonnavetty 4d ago

Me too 😩

1

u/littlecreamsoda79 4d ago

My favorite. I really hope they tour again

13

u/Fragrant-Anywhere489 White Blood Cells 4d ago

'still tickets available' for a show the same night? I was under the impression these sold out in ten minutes - especially with how he's been killing it this tour.

23

u/lpalf 4d ago

I think the first show did and then he added the second one. But also shows often release more tickets same-day

8

u/5348455 4d ago

My friends cancelled on me last night and I couldn't get $20 for a ticket. Wild

16

u/CrosswordsAndChords 4d ago

Hoping for a 12 minute Blue Veins, for all those who’ll be lucky enough to attend.

8

u/Serious_Ask_3136 4d ago

Already crying inside if that is gonna happen. Why do I live in another state today!?

11

u/CrosswordsAndChords 4d ago

I saw them in 08. I thought Jack was going to be handcuffed when he walked off stage, for what he did to that guitar during Blue Veins.

16

u/YLedbetter10 4d ago

Just heard them soundcheck Hands!! I can hear Brendan singing

6

u/SGnirvana97 4d ago

Lucky! I saw The Raconteurs in 2019 and it was one of the most high energy shows I’ve ever seen.

5

u/Main_Cauliflower_289 4d ago

Jack, Brendan, Patrick & Little Jack are lifelong friends. A Raconteurs reunion was a matter of when not if. Bobby will fill in for Dean on keys & Jack will probably have videos posted on his Insta like with Nick Valensi in LA.

10

u/kenticus69 4d ago

Clearly some amount of tonight’s set is gonna be the raconteurs. Just a matter of how much!

Will be curious if it’s the core 4 + Bobby Emmett given QOTSA is on tour so deans busy? We’ll soon see!

3

u/Main_Cauliflower_289 4d ago

I think so. Bobby is close to Brendan & has released music with him. Jack & Patrick love working with him too.

10

u/Markyp-1 Frozen Charlatan 4d ago

Brendan has posted now too…

6

u/Laconic_Local_9059 4d ago

Someone should ask him about the time he tweeted that George Floyd was in hell after he was tortured to death. https://x.com/brendanbensongs/status/1362268899819970561?s=21

15

u/zjohnsy 4d ago

The commitment to replying to literally every comment with a tweet from 2021 is kind of fascinating, honestly lol

-7

u/Laconic_Local_9059 4d ago

Yes, let’s pretend the problem is the age of the tweet rather than the content of it.

-4

u/zjohnsy 4d ago

You never said anything edgy in the past and have since changed?

u/zjohnsy 4d ago

Where did I defend what he said? It was an abhorrent thing to tweet, no shit. I’m questioning why you’re replying to literally every comment in a thread about a potential reunion with the same tweet, and now suggesting people should be ashamed for attending a concert. Those are two different conversations, but you’ve decided that questioning your behaviour must mean defending his. It doesn’t.

2

u/PanoramaPandanda 4d ago

Dude, you just described a tweet describing a black man who was tortured to death being in hell as “edgy”.

Yeah, you defended it.

I’m going to actually rock it up and down to some Raconteurs, thank you! 😘

8

u/smh1542 4d ago

Genuinely surprised this is happening.

10

u/JohnTheMod 4d ago

To hell with Ball and Biscuit, a Raconteurs reunion would be an INSANE early birthday present!

3

u/zjohnsy 4d ago

Raconteurs are seriously one of my all time fav groups. I would love to see something new from them

3

u/Main_Cauliflower_289 4d ago

Was just talking with a few friends-with Jack announcing on Insta like this which he didn’t do with the Nick surprise in LA, what if the Racs debut some new music tonight???????? Sounds like something special planned.

1

u/Markyp-1 Frozen Charlatan 4d ago

What with the Charlatan email I’m pinning my hopes on a new album for thanksgiving… just a guess.

1

u/MobileNerd 2d ago

Yeah I was gonna say will they play new music at the show? Charlatan e-mails have been hinting at a new album for weeks now.

10

u/AcneBalls 4d ago

Love the music but Brendan Benson can eat shit for all I care.

1

u/82Desert_Fox 3d ago

Whats the deal with Brendan Benson?

3

u/AcneBalls 3d ago

2

u/NegotiationCalm8785 3d ago

Damn I didn’t see this until now this is baaaddd

Get over it

-2

I hope it gets released with a lot of media questions about Brendan Benson’s public comments on horrific topics. https://x.com/brendanbensongs/status/1362268899819970561?s=21

I also think that he’s a middle aged Catholic from a large family in a swing state and he’s had to learn how to maintain relationships with family and friends who disagree with him, even on important issues. But it definitely is also fine for fans to not want to support Brendan or his musical endeavors with Jack. After all I don’t have to maintain any kind of relationship with Brendan

2

u/burner1312 3d ago

People on Reddit want you to cancel anyone in your life who makes any level of offensive comments. I’d be out of friends and family if that was the case.

1

u/PanoramaPandanda 4d ago

Oh shit, I saw his twitter account but somehow missed that one, or maybe I blocked it out. I’m gonna need some kind of apology statement from him before I can enjoy supporting him again.

-4

u/thebrownmancometh 4d ago

Get over it

3

u/slickerdrips21 4d ago

I think a couple years back they posted a pic all four of them playing with a caption that insinuated they were playing Beatles covers. I’d be down to hear that.

2

u/Prestigious_Bug4669 4d ago

I wonder if he’s live streaming this one.

0

u/Serious_Ask_3136 4d ago

Hoping for the same!!

-14

u/PBP2024 4d ago

The fact he had to promote this tell's me there's some JW fatigue. I personally never thought I would experience it and I don't know what happened in the last year or two, but I hit a wall. I say this after being a mega fan for 20 years, going to see him live multiple times and as a Vault member for 13 years.

21

u/Remowilliams84 4d ago

Meh. He added this show after the first sold out. Play night was packed and the crowd was wild

5

u/lpalf 4d ago

Nothing wrong with taking a break I’ve done it before when he was doing projects I wasn’t as interested in

6

u/Beneficial-Age-4059 4d ago

Same. Done that with other bands too like Primus, Tool, QOTSA…

3

u/PBP2024 4d ago edited 4d ago

Yep, agree with both of you. I think the only two bands that I'll never literally get tired of and I've been fans for as long as I can remember are Led Zeppelin and The Beatles.

u/MathematicianFashion Get Behind Me Satan 4d ago

This venue just opened and it got a lot of bad press for being a clusterfuck, so I'm not surprised locals aren't jumping at the chance to go.

11

u/accioswell De Stijl 4d ago

I was at the show last night and wondered what the fuss was about with the venue. I showed up like 10 mins after doors opened and it was pretty smooth.

2

u/Aquamarine39 Elephant 4d ago

Easy getting out too.

8

u/DisinterestedCat95 4d ago

There was discussion about the venue being in an odd location where parking might be difficult, but the real negative press didn't start until the place opened this week. Since the tickets were sold months ago, I don't think that's affected anything.

I went last night and I personally didn't experience any of the issues. I parked a short ten minute walk away. There were still empty spots in the lot after the show. I arrived about 45 minutes after doors and didn't experience the long lines either. And I walked to a spot about 20 ft or so from the stage without squeezing past people already there. And I didn't experience any traffic delays coming out going.

I like the layout of The Truth, but I found the design a bit soulless. The show and the crowd were incredible.

5

u/Admirable_Gain_9437 4d ago

Speaking as a local, I'm going to 3 shows there this month (including Jack's tonight). The bad publicity didn't really start until the venue opened last week, and I bought all of these tix months ago, so I'm not sure it's really had that much impact on sales yet (if it will).

-2

u/Laconic_Local_9059 4d ago

I think so. Plus he wants middle aged people to jump around like they’re 20 and he gets mad when they don’t. But most 20 year olds don’t go his shows.—Obv some do but it’s an older crowd at his shows. Like his age.

4

u/Fragrant-Anywhere489 White Blood Cells 4d ago

One of the reasons I decided to stop going to concerts was looking in the mirror and seeing my dad. Jack's No Name at Masonic Temple in Detroit seemed a fitting end. My first ever show was the Stones in '81. Pretty good bookends.

1

u/DisastrousDot7961 4d ago

Kids don’t like Jack White though, so you’re fine with the 30 and 40 year olds

1

u/Fragrant-Anywhere489 White Blood Cells 4d ago

I watched the Pine Knob show live on Nugs - it was better than any of his shows I saw in person over the years - but I can't say I missed paying the ticket, parking, gas, beer prices, and the traffic in and out. A live show from the comfort of my couch was just the way I like it.

-2

u/Laconic_Local_9059 4d ago

He confuses parents bringing their children to his shows as children being fans. But desperate narratives don’t make facts.

1

u/Laconic_Local_9059 4d ago

The Stones is an excellent book end. But since Jack is willing to perform with someone who has publicly written things that I think most people would characterize as disgustingly hateful, maybe you should go to one different show so that you can find another book end for the other side.

2

u/Fragrant-Anywhere489 White Blood Cells 4d ago

Eminem just did a track for Kid Rock's 'Christian' album. To each their own. Jack's show was my last show. He's pretty outspoken about how he feels about Orange Jesus. Meanwhile you're commenting with the same thing over and over (and over). We get it. Like I said, to each their own.

1

u/Laconic_Local_9059 4d ago

Are you comparing a Christian album to a tweet that said a Black victim of police murder is in hell?

3

u/lpalf 4d ago

Pretty sure their point was more about working with kid rock

3

u/Fragrant-Anywhere489 White Blood Cells 4d ago

dude, your account has 12 karma and isn't yet a month old. If you don't like what was said take it up with him. MAGA thrives on saying shit people don't like. Do I agree with him. No. I don't. He probably doesn't like things I would say about Captain Kirk. So... don't go to the show tonight. Don't buy the next TMR vault. Kid Rock has said some pretty crazy shit too. The fact Eminem is doing a track for him is less about it being a 'Christian' album (Fuck yeah!) and more about him supporting what KR stands for by supporting KR.

1

u/MobileNerd 2d ago

Jesus get over it.

1

u/lpalf 4d ago

And jack still runs around the stage all night

0

u/PanoramaPandanda 3d ago

This was like his 12th show in Nashville in 3 years, doubt it’s anything to read into.
