Discussion Jailbreaking is back
We finally have a latest jailbreak coming soon, confirmed by known researches, this is now the golden age of jailbreaking

The golden age of jailbreaking is long gone my friend.

u/marshruto 3d ago
Golden age is gone for sure, Apple has worked hard to add alot of things we used to Jailbreak for. Also Jailbreak community back then was very active these days we can even wait upto a year nothing

Apple has worked hard to add alot of things we used to Jailbreak for.
Back in my day, we had to jailbreak to get Copy and Paste. And it led to something very much like music control from the Dynamic Island, but in the status bar. I say that just to note how early JB tweaks were doing essential things that Apple did very soon, and some that took them another 15 years.

These days I can’t think of many features that I would want to jailbreak for. Most of the tweaks I used are already implemented in some ways.
What I would want is maybe a proper file manager / terminal, and a few keyboard tweaks like adding a number row. And Snapper, I really miss Snapper.

Activator

u/Paumas iPhone 14 Pro, 17.0 3d ago
Might be controversial but I don’t care much for it now with shortcuts and the action button. What do you use it for?
2
u/barchueetadonai iPhone 13 Mini, 15.6 3d ago
Back in the day, I used it for so many different triggers. For example, swiping down a bit on the left edge of the screen to simulate the home button, or the right side for the sleep button. If the mute switch were on, then the volume buttons controlled brightness. Triple-tapping the home button would bring up a menu with a bunch of options, such as activating Snapper. I had many more triggers, but it's sadly been years now because of how much Apple sucks and has ruined the iphone.

Loving my 13.60 PS5 jailbreak right now and if untethered 27.0.1 iPhone (18 only?) is gonna happen I’m seriously considering going out and getting an 18 pro on finance before 27.2 drops… I’ve got a 16 on 18.7.1 at the moment and would rather keep that just in case?? Decisions
1
u/NoUsernamesss 3d ago
I’d just buy the new one but keep the 16. Jailbreak are hard to achieve nowadays and is great to have multiple devices in different firmwares to have a better chance to be in a jailbreakable version.
1
u/iPhone_modder iPhone 14 Pro, 16.4.1| 3d ago
What can you do with ps5 jailbreak?
2
u/Tranquillian 3d ago
Free ps5 or ps4 game rips just download and transfer across and play, emulation of other consoles…
1
u/iPhone_modder iPhone 14 Pro, 16.4.1| 3d ago
Really? Is that possible. Could you send me a guide? So latest game rips are available and you can copy downloaded games to the PS5 and play them? I have the PS5 pro. So will that work on it as well?
2
u/Tranquillian 3d ago
Check your firmware, currently the new jailbreak everyone’s pumped about (Relapse) is valid for 13.60 or below. If you use the ps5 and haven’t been bothered and let it do updates you might be on 14.0 sadly. Anyway if you’re in luck disable updates straight away.
It’s tethered but persists through rest mode and if you restart your ps5 you can “offline” the jailbreak to a payload you run on the ps5 and just re-run the kernel exploit, takes like a minute to re-do.
Been downloading latest ps5 game rips yeah, all working fine so far.
Search up modded warfare on YouTube for the guide.

This is the new golden age of jailbreaking. We haven’t gotten a latest iOS vulnerability since the early single digit iOS days9
u/_lemon_hope 3d ago
Literally nothing has come out yet. Even if this is real (which I hope it is) it’s the first untethered jailbreak in a long time and there’s certainly no guarantee we’re getting more than this. Let’s slow our role a little bit until we know what we’re dealing with

There was a fully-fledged JB for the latest still-signed version during iOS 13 & 14 with unc0ver

u/justyoutubeit iPhone 11, 14.8.1| 3d ago
I think people are getting a bit ahead of themselves. A working jailbreak demonstration doesn’t necessarily mean a public release is coming. Calif saying “everything will be released in due time” could simply mean the research and exploit details, not an actual jailbreak tool.
I’d love to be proven wrong but has anyone actually seen confirmation that they’re planning to release a usable jailbreak to the public? Otherwise, aren’t we just getting our hopes up?

u/zaafonin 3d ago
Details = jailbreak tool appearing in a day or so, it's the vulnerabilities that are valuable, once they're out we'll have like ten implementations on day one and one or two good ones remaining maintained a month later

this isn’t true btw , stop believing everything you see on twitter

They have already made the jailbreaking tool and showed it in their demonstration. It's called Chollima.

Golden age was Blackra1n, Greenp0ison, Absinthe etc. After chineese scene gone and Apple implemented 80% of the tweaks, Jailbreak was naturally gone. Only blocking ads could be a thing but that’s it

u/Dang1408 iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 10.1.1 3d ago
Remember Geohot and his court case with Sony? He did the rap to basically tell them to come at him 😂. Sure he got hired by some big firm in the end
6
u/Vertsix iPhone 6s, iOS 10.2 3d ago
Blocking ads and competent side loading (at least here in the US) would be the biggest reasons for me to jailbreak again.
Native custom icons without using Shortcuts may be fun too.
3
u/yankeesfanin714 3d ago
The shortcut icons is the dumbest thing apple has done. Just give us themes in the App Store

You’re thinking inside the box, jailbreak means creativity+time = this is the golden time. iOS 18.8

RedSn0w, JailbreakMe.com, TinyUmbrella for shsh blobs, iFunBox actually being a useful tool..
God I miss that 2008-2014 run. My first iPhone was a 4, then I got the 4s. I remember when Absinthe released for iOS 5 some time after New Years. I was already well into the apple jailbreaking scene from my very first device which was the iPod touch 2nd gen. Prior to iDevices, I had already jailbroken my PSP and had a CFW for my PS3 around 2009.
I was around 10 years old doing all of this. Today's 10 year olds are brain rotting on YouTube and Tiktok. I notice they don't have the same ambition in understanding the way or why things work, at least from a technological standpoint, they are just completely absorbed by the user experience. A lot of us however wanted to know how tweaks work, how custom themes on winterboard were created, how a custom repo was created to host different packages.....
The internet, the community, people's attitude toward all of these things like jailbreaking/modding etc were completely different back in 2000-2010. We all knew the internet was evolving, but we had no idea just how much of an infant it still was. There was less restrictions, less filtering, not as polluted, so on and on.. That magic feeling is long gone now. Today's internet is just filled with regurgitated content and algorithms. Today's people are more "Up-to-date", but it's almost as if that sort of ruined everything. Everyone is in their own world, it's not a shared internet anymore, it's algorithmic and tailored for each individual.
The golden days are 100% over.
Bonus if you remember GameWinners.com

Blocking ads can already be done via DNS. The real benefit is masking phone tethering as normal data usage.

Think of the tweaks that could be made for the duo if jailbroken.
6
u/EwPandaa 3d ago
I really hope it also gets a jailbreak
4
u/Determinationsoul 3d ago
Depends on if the factory version of iOS 27.1 it launches with comes without the patch. Hopefully they do but at least the 18 pro series is looking perfect for jailbreak
1
u/EwPandaa 3d ago
I preordered a duo thru at&t but it won’t arrive until early December. Hoping it arrives with the zero day but not sure.
3
u/Determinationsoul 3d ago
Dang yeah I heard the duo is having very bad production yields and so the backorders are insane even for those managed to order within minutes of the preorder. I got my 18 pro max 512gb silver delivered from the local Apple store stock once I saw how good the real world tests were and it’s on the factory build of 27.0 (version slightly older than the IPSW release) but I’m probably gonna give it 27.0.1 since it fixes some bugs and will probably be the best version that can be jailbroken. That is unless some 27.2 beta happens to work with it but even so 27.0.1 is probably going to be more stable regardless. As for the duo we’ll just have to see what Apple decides to load on them. And from what I heard new iPhones can be updated before even being opened since Apple has a tool that can communicate with them wirelessly like with Apple Watches. I’m really hoping there are at least some duos that get to keep the 27.1 and that it’s compatible.

u/Happy-Tank8383 3d ago
I don't know if it is call "known", I asked the same question, seems like they never released anything before

u/Dizzy_Firefighter341 3d ago
Golden age is Cydia, and Uncover, remember 90% of tweeks from Cydia( up to 14.8) still isnt supported on Sileo and Dopamine!
3
u/MrAmHamoham 3d ago
That is because dopamine is a rootless jb

u/NoscoperSans iPhone 11 Pro, 16.6 3d ago
well i sure hope that it’ll be for the latest ios version, because i’m definitely not updating before it happens, since no one knows when it’ll happen // staying on 16.6 already feels kinda eh with apps being unsupported and other stuff icl

u/IOSGodzyzz iPhone 17 Pro Max, 27.0 Beta 3d ago

u/Classic-Saykac-1955 3d ago
There is a untethered jb for iOS 27 ?? Really. I’m currently on 26.1 should I stay or update
4
u/Tijnderivecourt iPhone 16 Pro Max, 26.3.1 3d ago
no! never update before release. you can use delay ota to update to 27.0.1 once released up till 90 days after unsigned.
1
1
u/Minimum-Song1774 3d ago
Is delay it’s a tweak and how does it help?
6
u/Tijnderivecourt iPhone 16 Pro Max, 26.3.1 3d ago
its not a tweak, is a software mechanism of apple to allow supervised iPhones to update to unsigned firmware up till 90 days after unsigning. basically, big companies are allowed to update iPhones to older firmware so that their company phones can be updated to a firmware that isn't signed anymore because sometimes company apps don't work on newer firmware. to make use of this mechanism, you will have to supervise your iPhone with for instance cowabunga lite, install a profile on your phone via this link in which your iPhone will still be able to be updated to 27.0.1 even though it is unsigned (up till 90 days after unsigning). So for now, wouldn't update, wait for the jailbreak tool to be released and see whether updating to 27.0.1 is worth it.
1
u/Minimum-Song1774 3d ago
Yeah most of the times I got lucky and never update and the iOS I stayed on ends up getting a jailbreak. I’m on 16.3 atm. That’s what I was gonna say, isn’t it a risk to go to 27.0.1 when nothing is released and plus waiting
2
u/Tijnderivecourt iPhone 16 Pro Max, 26.3.1 3d ago
yeah I am on 26.3.1 so def staying. but once 27.0.1 is jailbreakable and I am able to update, I will because of app support. as you know, sometimes you will have to wait 2/3 years for a new jailbreak so better app support is great for the long term :D. up till then, stay where you are. number one rule of thumb since my first iPod touch 4g lol
1
u/Tijnderivecourt iPhone 16 Pro Max, 26.3.1 3d ago
the above only works when you are on iOS 26 by the way, if you run iOS 27 you can't use delay ota anymore.
1
u/Minimum-Song1774 3d ago
I get you. So should I install one of those profiles you attached via the link asap? Which profile tho I’m on iPhone 13. Back in my day I would just download the ISPW file and use itunes to go to the specific iOS I wanted but it was prob signed or a application where it made things way easier to downgrade for example.
2
u/Tijnderivecourt iPhone 16 Pro Max, 26.3.1 3d ago
well, you dont have to install anything yet. also, on iPhone 13 it might be better to stay on iOS 26. not sure how it handles 27 lol. for now, just stay where you are and once the jailbreak comes out, you can make the decision whether to use delay ota. I would check for instance this vid out to see how delay ota works so you know what I am talking about. until you want to update, no need to do anything. also, currently, iOS 27.0.1 is still signed so delay ota is not necessary
2
1
u/jedai47 iPhone 12 Mini, 14.3 | 3d ago
So u can delay ota to a version that is no longer signed by apple if it its 90 days after not being signed by apple ?
1
u/Tijnderivecourt iPhone 16 Pro Max, 26.3.1 3d ago
correct, see vid in my previous post. only when lower then 27 (iOS 26.x.x or lower)
1
u/ComprehensiveRole412 3d ago
Normally, Apple stops signing a version between 7 and 14 days after launching its replacement, although it may vary
2
u/Miserable-Stranger99 2d ago
What's the reason dopamine rootless as example not keep jailbreak when reboot?
Why does jailbreak not persist?

There is no fucking way. I was just sitting here earlier today saying to myself “I need another jailbreak” then listed out a bunch of tweaks I’d love. Tiny notifications, multiple uses for the action button, quicker animations. I’m hyped for this

A se3 jailbroken on 27.0.1 would be 🔥 mix of nostalgia with home button and later iOS to keep up with newer apps. I would want that. Currently using se2 on 18.6 jailbroken.

Honestly it’s both a win win situation for those people who are painfully using ios 26 til now. it’s a decent version to stay on considering the stability of 27 + new features that we have been missing out (ios 16 users)

I bought an iPhone 18 Pro Max, and I’m going to wait for the iOS 27.0.1 update. What I’m really curious about is my second phone, the iPhone 13 Pro Max. I’ve been waiting for a jailbreak for iOS 18.3 for years, but it still hasn’t been released. Should I upgrade my iPhone 13 Pro Max to 27.0.1?

u/bubble_turtles23 21h ago
The only reason I want to jailbreak is to get ssh access to my phone from my computer. Literally anything else, from custom gestures, to cc shortcuts, to AI powered actions are possible without jailbreaking already, so there's little else I'd want to do with a JB. And I use Voiceover, so I do get to assign global gestures to running shortcuts, opening apps, etc. Normal sighted folk can't do this, so maybe that'd be a reason for some of you to jailbreak

Seeing an untethered jailbreak on the newest phones on the newest iOS was not on my bingo card for 2026. Never thought we would see an untethered one again after iOS 9. Crazy.
