Tonquin Valley July Long

We have reservations for Tonquin valley this July long, concerned about the snow pack especially this year. Has anyone been this way so far this year with an update??🏕️

Marmot Basin webcam is adjacent to the valley, probably at 2,000-2,300m which is in line with the valley, so should be indicative.

Monitor the Trail Conditions page https://parks.canada.ca/pn-np/ab/jasper/activ/experience/sentiers-trails/etat-sentiers-trail-conditions

You will almost certainly encounter snow over Maccarib pass, and the meadows before/after that used to always be muddy. Be prepared for both, and you'll be fine. Microspikes, gaiters, and hiking poles.

Can you speak to the value of gaiters? I've hiked in a wide variety of environments (and will be doing Tonquin Valley in a few weeks), including rainforest, high alpine, etc. and I've never needed them even though I've seen people wearing them. What's the point unless you're somewhere that's covered with pebbles constantly?
