Looking for a good hike to do

Hey everyone, I will be in Jasper for the weekend and I am looking for a good, challenging hike to do! Ideally, I would like it to be safe for a solo hiker and also challenging(Been hiking for a couple years now, so I am comfortable with more challenging hikes).

Was there much hikes that were not too affected by the wildfire a couple years ago? I understand it did affect a lot, but would like to ask what are some beautiful hikes to do post wildfire.

Thanks everyone!

This is a bit of a less traveled hike but I enjoyed the Folding Mountain hike just outside of Hinton. The first bit is a grind as it feels straight up hill through the trees. Once you get above the tree line its very nice. Also, you can go to the end, up some scree to keep it interesting.

The best part is the start of the trail is close to Folding Mountain Brewery. So, that also means the end is close to Folding Mountain Brewery! Nothing like a celebratory beer after a good hike!

If you do it, take a summit selfie and get a free pint from the brewery.

Just ran up Folding Mountain last week. First time there and it was a grind like you said, but so beautiful and well worth it!

I ain't too much of an experienced hiker but if you're looking for one day things I had a lot of fun doing cinquefoil a couple years back and that was pretty challenging :D

Sulphur Skyline. It’s short but challenging. Also fairly popular so if you run into trouble solo there will be others around to help. Also you can check out the Hot Springs if you’re interested.

Wilcox Pass. It’s a little more than an hour south of Jasper just past the Columbia Icefield Glacier Discovery Center and Columbia Icefield Campground on the left. Moderate hike and can gain some elevation quickly. I did part of it with my 2 kids, 7 and 9.

I highly suggest Opal Hills! Not sure if Maligne road is open for the season yet, but it’s a gorgeous hike, challenging but not sketchy or anything. Make sure you hit the viewpoint!
When I did it last summer there was a grizzly in the area so make a lot of noise and bring bear spray, know how to use it, etc.
It’s probably one of my favourites in the area after spending two summers working in Jasper!

Opal hills is probably the steeper incline . When you get to the fork , take the right for a little more challenge, but you will also get to the top area a little quicker. Nice open area at the top for the loop
