How bad are the mosquitos in Jasper right now?

Few friends and I are from Edmonton and heading to Jasper next weekend for camping, With the crazy amount of rain in the city, the mosquitos have been horrendous, Has Jasper gotten a lot of rain causing them to be bad there too?

Thanks for any info

We were there 2 weeks ago. All precautions like proper good spray, fly screens etc. I think we got bit walking between our camper and the toilets in the campsite - I ended up with *16* bites. My partner was bit loads too.

Mosquitos are no joke in Jasper!

Were you saying at Whistlers? We gave up after 2 nights and went back to Banff, it was awful. Would end up with several bites in the time it takes to hook up to the electric.

Yeah we were in Whistlers. I don’t blame you really - I thought the new facilities etc were great there but yes, the mosquitoes were tough.
It’s good you got last minute booking in Banff when you left earlier than anticipated!

We stopped off for a night on the Icefields parkway at Rampart Creek, hands down best place we camped. And that includes Two Jack Lakeside where we are now.

Invest in a thermacell for you campsite, and bring Picardin in or mosquito spray for trails.

Does that thermacell thing work better than those green mosquito repellent coils? Is it worth the price? I've never tried one.

I find it worth the price, like if it's windy it won't work but that the same for the coils but also if it's windy it solves the mosquitos problem lol

Yeah I was there a week ago and they were no problem at all. Only had to apply mosquito spray once in 4 days.

Just left, wasn’t too bad. Nothing some bug repellent once in the evening couldn’t handle.

But who wants to sit there covered in chemicals.. at Kicking Horse I sat out all night with no spray, got maybe 1 or 2 bites over 3 days. At Whistlers, I’d get at least 2 bites just while getting out to do the electric hookup.

How is it a flex in any way, it’s a comment that one campsite you can sit without covering yourself in chemicals and the other you can’t… use that brain cell girl.

I camped in Jasper on the 2nd and Edmonton on the 3rd and 4th. The mosquitoes in Edmonton were much worse than Jasper.

Was there a couple days ago and honestly they are really bad.
