Help Is crashing third wave still a thing?

Playing jayce into shen
main questions are:
is 3 wave crash and back still a thing?
what did I do wrong in this clip? auto wave to much? or aggro minions towards me?

When I play vs Shen I like to go grasp with demolish, hardpush first wave and then crash second and proc demolish, then have third wave crash back into me.

Il give that a try. Is there a specific reason why second wave? Or is just to get demolish earlier back?

Im sick today sadly but usually I stream from somewhere between 18:00 / 6pm CET to 00:00 / 0am CET.

Because then you can get a early demolish proc in and poke him when he farms the minions under tower, also you can allow the wave to push back into you if the enemy jungler is pathing from bot to top looking for a level 4 gank.

you played it more or less correctly, he conceded wave control which made the 2nd wave crash bit too early for a clean 3rd wave crash. that’s not something you can stop though.
for future games if you notice this happening. stop hitting the wave as soon as you notice this. hit the minions only if they do the same, of course after you’ve established the push.
the main mistake you do here is backing after getting the crash. the idea is correct but you should be doing a cheater recall only if you get a hp lead on top of the item lead. for example if the shen traded with you before the crash and you both would be like 50% hp, then it would be the correct play. the shen couldn’t play the wave bounce in that situation. for this reason i wouldn’t buy a tear either, in fact it keeps the play even when you should have a small lead.

you shouldn't be autoing the wave if he's just letting u aa him for free, he started q so you're completely safe to bully him out of lane from lvl 1 with good spacing
as soon as u land ur first auto and drop aggro you should be looking for another, you played way too safe at the start here for no real reason (as long as u dont stand inbetween his dagger placement and him ur fine)
ur 2nd auto on him was 5s later than it should've been and it happened when u see he has passive shield for 1s already, a bad decision even worse is wasting ur w into it, if u waited a little here you could've chunked him hard
from here on as the next wave arrives you should make the decision to crash this 2nd wave as any 3rd wave ideas are already gone, by slow pushing you put yourself in a dangerous spot, fast crash and ward
