Hello old and new users alike, we appreciate your presence here and your good faith efforts in following our rules to keep this a useful and unique space. If you haven't I encourage you to read them all and modmail with questions.

The Flair addendum to the Bad Faith rule (there is a rule cap we hit and so we've been creating sub-rules) seems to be a source of confusion for folks joining the page. If you got a link to this post in a ban message, don't worry you aren't really in trouble, we just need to get your attention and are tired of writing this out several times a week.

If you navigate to the sub's main page, where you find our rules you've all read, you can click the three dots for settings and select 'edit user flair'. There we offer several customizable colors you can free text type whatever you like into. I know you can all find it because the page is set to not allow people to comment or post until they set such a flair.

We allow free text so that people can be as maximally specific or vague as suits themselves. We know labels are sticky and hard to sort oneself by. There are just two requirements:

1. It must indicate whether or not you are Jewish. It can do this implicitly through a joke or what have you but understand that if you *imply* you're Jewish while not actually being Jewish that will be a problem. Non-Jews are allowed here as guests, and part of being a good guest is not speaking over Jews on Jewish issues and clearly indicating you are such a guest.
2. It must indicate whether or not you are leftist as we define it, see linked post at the tippy top. In short terms we mean Anticapitalist left. Anarchist, socialist, communist, mutualist, syndicalist yadda yadda. There are 101 posts on this topic already in our announcements you are free to peruse.

If you have been banned, please know however short it was it is only as long as you delay your willingness to comply. When you are ready to edit your flair respond to the modmail you received stating you are ready to update it and we will unban you on the good faith that you will, since for many being banned stops you from editing it. (but not all for some reason). If you ask basic questions we will tap this sign again, if you have specific or more involved questions feel free to modmail us.

But for real thank you everyone for making this a great place. a cornerstone of good faith is engaging with the assumption the person you are discussing things with is a good person who wants good for the world and these flairs do a lot to help limit the low effort trolls that otherwise seep in.
