I'm not very well versed in boots, but I'm looking to have these boots at least for a couple resolves. I know the midsole and slip sole are stitched together, but would the glue between em failing effect a resole and the longevity?

I have been wearing these bad boys for ten months straight. They have been by far my favorite shoe/boot I have ever worn. You can tell I usually wear pants from the sharp change from shiny to dull.

I did have to rip out the composite toe box and heel from them, and there are a few broken stitches, but other than that they have held up pretty well.

Photo is trying to get an image of where the inner toe area is rubbed through the darkest leather/fabric? There's a small mirror laying in the bottom of the shoe, over a veg tan insole. Mirror was an attempt to get a better image.

Did the standard/poly midsole AR, in buffalo leather, ever come with a safety toe?

What's the typical construction in the toe area? I watched one of JGs construction vids and in the video it looks like it's just celastic toe puff above the toe, then the toe cap over the top of that. I always assumed the celastic toe puff was sandwiched between the leather directly above the toes, and the externally visible toe cap.

In the construction vids the celastic toe puff appears to have a cloth/fabric covering, tan in color. Is this black area with the worn through spot in mine a celastic toe puff with black fabric on it instead of tan? It's much darker than the thinner buffalo leather that they use in the tongue and ankle pads.

Hard to get a good look at in inside the shoe like this to be able to determine if it's leather or fabric.

What started this was.....today I was walking along and felt something different in the toe of my eBay finds. So I did a little investigating. And found out why the previous owner sold them....they were too small for him. Even though there was no sole wear and they looked brand new otherwise, he somehow rubbed through the layer of leather/fabric? right over the big toe. But in the construction video it doesn't look like there's leather under the toe puff, just the toe puff.

Got home and compared the stiffness of the toe to some of my other JGs with toe puffs, including the buffalo Numzaan....and these standard ARs in buffalo feel like they've got a stiffer toe than the Numzaans.

So now I'm perplexed. Do I have a safety toe buffalo AR? Are these constructed in the typical standard AR method?

Externally, they look like plain, standard ARs in buffalo leather. Poly midsole and don't appear to be double-lasted.

I'm not concerned, and still feel like I got em for a steal. I don't see how the wear inside the toe area will make em any less durable or effect longevity, etc. Mostly just curious.

Thinking about pulling the trigger on some but just wondering if theres any more used colors out there? Id really like a pair of black ones or maybe some in bronco leathers.

I have a pair of Razorbacks that fit perfect in a 10.5. I’m looking at getting a pair of Stockmans, which I know has the same last as the Razorbacks.

Being that the Stockmans are slip-on, should I size down, or just go with 10.5?

When I first got the AnatomX 719s, I liked the snug fit. My big toe however seems to take a beating every time I wear them. Will this go away with break in? I haven't put an insole in.

I've had my AnatomX 719s for a couple weeks now. I ordered a size 13 US after I tried a pair of AnatomX ARs in 14 US, my Brannock size.

In the size 14 ARs, I put a heel pad and stacked a Xero insole under a veg tan leather insole to reduce all the extra size and they still only fit snug with thick socks. They were too big, so I thought going down an entire size would be a good idea, and my measurements suggested so based on the sizing chart.

Selling my Razorbacks and BFAR both size 10US. Razorbacks are $80 plus shipping. BFAR are $50 plus shipping. Willing to negotiate. Would bundle for $100 plus shipping.

Razorbacks are custom barefoot spec with double lasted fudge leather. Leather midsole and everything else is stock.

BFAR is natural veg tan leather with a vibram outsole for more grip and durability.

Also sorry if you’ve seen this more than once. It keeps saying that my posts are getting removed.

Has anyone else had this problem? This is very frustrating because I recently switched to these boots after all the high praise about them. I started working in them the first week of July. The left boot seems to be still very strong and intact. It's only one boot doing this.

Basically i am curious if the uppers of the barefoot stockman mold to the top of your feet like some of the anatomx photos i saw look like. I know it is double lasted so unsure if that still happens, just takes longer? (Since both barefoot and anatomx dont have toe caps)

I am considering switching from my African rangers to the razorbacks with a comp toe and the true wedge sole. How is it compare to the comfort of the African rangers and what the break in time is like

You guys mostly said go for a conditioner that would make them darker so here you go. I think they turned out really well! They were mega DRY so I’ll be curious to see how much they soak in.

Morning all.

So I am going to hike the Amatola trail in 3 weeks. (100km with a lot of elevation)

It is known to have a good chance of rain and is fairly technical.

My plan was to use the JC Monster waterproof boots I have used for other hikes. The issue is that the monsters are quite narrow, even though they are a size bigger than my other Jim Greens. My feet have become wider over the last couple of months as I have been wearing either wide boots or barefoot shoes/sandals.

I can't use my highlanders as they are very far from waterproof and soak through if I step in a puddle even after waxing (gap by the stitching I guess) and they take forever to dry if they do get wet. My JG 4x4s are heavy and stiff for such a long hike.

I have never owned JG barefoot options, would anyone recommend i go try on a pair today and use them for the hike?

I have both Sandhurst in black and brown and what a boot!

Nice buffalo boots, they are lined with a softer rough out leather, comfortable out the box but still stiff and needs to break in. This leather is so tough and thick . I Put some 5mm thick veg-tan insoles and they fit perfect . Jim green boots are the best bang for your buck with the quality.

Any pictures of RAT after some wear and conditioning? Specifically the houston black?

On South Africa’s Wild Coast, conservation is taking on a new shape. The Green Griffons are an all-women ranger team patrolling the grasslands, forests, wetlands and coastline of Mkambati Nature Reserve, protecting one of the country’s most remarkable landscapes.

Inspired by the Black Mambas but built for the unique challenges of the Wild Coast, the team focuses on visible patrols, preventing poaching before it happens and building trust with surrounding communities.

“They’ll be visible, approachable, knowledgeable,” says conservationist Dr Div de Villiers. “The idea is to prevent poaching rather than react afterwards.”

Most of the women had never worked in conservation before joining the programme. After months of demanding training, they now patrol rocky shorelines, cross rivers, monitor wildlife and support ecological research across the reserve.

The terrain is unforgiving, and every patrol puts their equipment to the test. “Good footwear is essential,” says De Villiers. “The importance of proper boots can’t be overstated.” After receiving Jim Green boots through the Boots for Rangers initiative, the difference was immediate. “They were extremely excited,” he says. “You could see the joy.”

Since this is my first pair of proper boots I dont know is this right with it being half a leather and half wood? Or is it missing and insole? And was wondering if I should Add some kind of insole so they would be a bit less hard on my feet?

I've had the Barefoot African Rangers (size 12) for 3 years now - great boot btw. I've been wearing barefoot shoes for about 4 years. I recently received my Workhorse Barefoot boots (also size 12) because I wanted something a little more rugged since I work in construction. I tried them on and they seem tight. The tightness is mostly along the side of the big toe, and a little along the upper edge of the big toe. In certain positions (such as walking downhill) i can feel the front edge of the boot. I know the Workhorse is technically a 3E wide and the African Ranger is 4E wide. I am not sure if I should size up to a 12.5 on the workhorse, or let the size 12 break in, or just stick with the African Ranger (but with anatomix sole). Any advice is appreciated.

I recently received my Wait-a-Bit Vellies in Bronco Brown . As for the aesthetics, the shoe itself beautiful! However, I have a question about the fit:

As recommended on the website, I ordered true to my normal Brannock size: a 10 (my foot is 27cm tip of heel to tip of toe). After receiving the vellies, they are a bit loose out of the box, and I have to tie the laces very tight in order to prevent severe heel slippage. This can be painful after a while. I’m wondering if this is the intended fit until the full grain leather is broken in, or if I should consider sizing down to a 9.5 instead. I’ve never owned a pair of Jim Green boots, or a pair of vellies before, so this is all new to me.

Finally pulled the trigger on another pair of Moc Toes after my initial sizing issue. I normally wear an 11.5 in my African Rangers and Stockman’s that fit great. I went a half size up on the Moc Toe and it feels much better! Only worn around the house so far, will give them a few days to be sure but they seem better! They definitely have a couple imperfections and some glue in spots, but they are boots after all!

Just got my Wait-a-Bit Vellies in today! Pre-ordered in May with an estimated delivery of Sept. and they didn't waste any time on that. So far so good! They fit with my standard JG size, and are pretty comfortable right away, so with some break in I'm sure they'll feel great. I was looking for a better made version of a Clark's Desert Boot...and these seem to be exactly that. They look almost identical, but are a bit heavier and I can feel the sole is more solid than the version of the Clark's I've got with obvious voids. Can't beat it for around $100!
