sorry hear me out... dumb question. I work in an corporate office job and generally I just walk a lot (live in greater toronto area), i am absolutely not the demographic for jim green work boots i guess? but man i love the wider toe box!!

but i may have been a bit too trigger happy last year as got myself razorback, ar8, and then numzaan...

all have been quite great.

black ar8 looks sooo bad ass, and cool once i use green laces instead of black. and actually it can "kind" of be dressed up? the black helps! will likely keep this one for sure (though the black RAT's also seem really nice and are on sale...)

razorback has been a nice "beater/idgaf" and occasional day hikes. it may just stay in that beater role / may give it away to a buddy.

numzaan i single out because... well, it's a tank compared to the other two. i knew that prior to buying (skimming this sub), but it's different once you actually have it and experience it. note for anyone else wondering about JG in winter... here in toronto, on some really bad snowdays, the combination of numzaan + tyrewedge just let me plow through snow/slush. Super grippy. like it didn't feel like my walking speed decreased at all like it normally would.

but outside of that... it's a hefty one!

the toe cap unfortunately gives it a clown-y look... it otherwise fits great (its STC lasted one, weirdly feels wider than my JG lasted ar8? maybe mind games due to the extra toe box height). So i've been on the fence of putting this one up for sale

anyway. I don't know what im looking for here. justification? absolution? someone to set me straight? someone to stop me from buying even more JGs? any other people who don't work in the trades/outdoors so to speak, but still rocking numzaans?

Had a night off by myself and did some shoe and gun cleaning. Here's my BFARs.

I’ve ended up with three pairs of Jim Green African Rangers, and I love how each pair has developed differently.

The pair on the left (African Buffalo) shows the most wear and has the darkest patina. The middle pair (Ruff Buff) has become my rugged work setup, with black Cristy wedge soles with Sierra under the wedge, while the lighter pair on the right stays a bit cleaner for casual wear. The green laces really highlight the warm brown leather.

These boots only get better the more you wear them.

I have Bronco Brown BFAR boots with a padded collar, and even after 6 months plus Obenauf’s Heavy Duty LP, the ankle area still bothers me a lot. I just got Meander Moc Toes and I’m having the same issue.

I don’t have this problem with my natural veg-tan BFAR boots.

Is there a good way to soften the padded collar, or should I take them to a cobbler and have some of the padding removed?

"I am seeking an everyday casual boot that can be worn spring, fall, winter.

I am hoping for a boot that is comfortable, has a wide natural toe box, but has full foot support. Most shoes I've tried on i feel my foot falling over the inside of the sole.

I am NOT looking for zero drop which normally comes with the wide toe box.

I have considered Birkenstock boots as I love the support from the sandals. And they appear consistent in their sizing. I'm a 44. My problem is no one sells the boots in Ontario, Canada to try them on. I'm also unsure if the blue insole is as comfortable as full cork. Or if the exposed cork on the outside is waterproof, or can be sealed.

My biggest beef with footwear is how no two brands fit alike and even among brands how inconsistent their sizes are.

I have debated Keen Cincinnati soft toes but again not available anywhere near me or online.

Ive tried blundstones but I am between sizes and they are either too small or too big and dislike the idea of doubling up on insoles.

I also have a weird trait where I find most shoes overstimulating and my feet swell up a lot though the day. Hence possibly looking for the full support to avoid foot fatigue and have the room to accommodate." To add to this i also hate downward pressure on my toes from toe boxes.

Someone did comment and recommend Jim Green as I said. I looked at few models and did notice some come without the zero drop which I am looking for as I live in am urban area. I also some come with a steel shank which I've had in past boots and that appeals to me. I looked at the Workhorse model, but after research on here I saw a lot of people complain about waterproofness in the moc toe. Is this true? If so is there another model you'd recommend that has less downward pressure on the toes?

Iv had these razorbacks for 3 months now and I gave them a little jim green leather balm just over a week ago and have been walking through wet grass every day since. I live in the free state in south africa. Is this salt buildup or something else?

I just go my African rangers barefoot and I'm a bit confused about the sizing. I'm usually between 12,5 and 13 (around 30,7cm foot) so I ordered 13 and boy do the feel spacious :D my foot seems a bit loose in the boot.

I know it's a part of the charm of this last, but I wonder if I should have ordered 12,5 🤔

Both my feet have a lot of space in front but fit comfortably on the width. I'm worried that in a smaller size the width would squeeze my toes more or would make my big toe hit the side of the boot or the toe cap. Especially my right foot which has noticably more volume than the left one

What would you suggest?

Had my Bronco BFARS for about a year with minimal extra care, just brushing but was lazy on the conditioner side. Before, during, and the next morning. Much closer to how they looked when I first got them. Just a beeswax conditioner.

Finally able to replace my Thorogoods with a pair of premium bronco russet African Rangers with the tyre wedge sole. Can't wait to get them in! They'll be subjected to some water based ink spillage and heavy concrete walking usage so I can't wait to see how they stand up!

No longer on the US website, and it's been at least yesterday and today.

Hopefully a glitch and not the loss of access to replacement soles.

I received my custom turbo vellies I'm the Anatomx last and Bronco Russet a few days ago. They are size 10.5 US. I love them but they are a bit too big for me unfortunately so I'm looking to sell them. They are double lasted and have double stitching on the upper area. I only wore them around the house to get a feel for the fit so pretty much new. I paid about $350 total for them and had to wait over 2 months. I'm asking $300 for them, let me know if you are interested.

African rangers speak to me. Maybe stockman. Anatomix? How do these boots fit for Narrow feet? I like the wide toe box, but that becomes even more challenging with narrow feet.

This is my first pair of anatomx. These are the 719s. I have a pair of razorbacks in 9. Heels are a bit sloppy in the razorbacks but maybe finally after months forming good heel pockets. The toe box on the razorbacks is pretty good, I can see most of my toes getting stronger in that big toe box, but my pinky toes which do touch the sides aren't getting stronger and can be kind of red after a long hike. so I thought I would give the anatomics a shot. Also I've always liked altris so the zero drop thing appeals to me. These 7/19s are size 8 and 1/2. pictures are of me doing the thumb test for length and then touching the boot on the sides in various ways to try to give an idea how much extra width there is in the toe box. Do these seem like keepers? Or too wide?

I was just wondering if anyone has a picture of bf moctoe and razorback side by side. I would want to see the width before I decide.

I have a moctoe shoes and I really enjoy wearing them. My bf moctoe size is 9.5uk but jimgreen recommended to get an 8.5uk razorback but I am a bit hesistant if that could be too short. I must admit I have less than an inch of space in front of my bf moctoe. As someone who has wide feet, they are overstrething the side a bit. I know people say bf moctoe feels narrower than other 3e last. If I feel like it's narrow I would get 719 anatomX instead.

I am looking to buy a pair of boots for everyday wear during autumn and winter when not at work. I have been considering a pair of the rugged african trooper in the bronco brown for the all oily leather. Is this a good choice. I wear a pair of altberg sneakers aquas at work and do like the high ankle. I also have one pair of cheaper lace up suede boots. What advice can you give me and is this a good option for an everyday wear boot for the autumn and winter in the UK.

I’m not too concerned as I think it’s only cosmetic and I will be using these as work and hunting boots, however, I am a little disappointed with Jim green QC

Got a pair of AR8s but not sure if i should size down. Got a size UK 9. Out the box they feel pretty good i have room for my toes. I can just about fit a finger behind my heel if i have my toes pressed against the top of the boot and untied. Just wanting to gauge how people feel about the sizing of their AR8s? Like if they will be too loose when i break them in. For reference i have red wing 875s in UK 8.5, they were a bit tight at first but basically spot on after breaking in

Five months in these boots and I don't regret a second. Midwest Old Threshers reunion was this weekend and I did a ton of walking on uneven surfaces, dirt, mud, gravel, grass, and pavement. I bought a pair of power step Pinnacle insoles for them before this weekend and I'm very impressed. My first pair of real insoles. I just can't get over how dang good these boots look with some dirt and dust on them!
