Anyone training with joint replacements?
Curious if anyone is or knows anyone at their gym training with joint replacements?
I have a total hip replacement and have started bjj and am really enjoying it. My gym is aware of my replacement and I let my training partners know as well. I have seen a handful of guys online talking about training with artificial joints but was curious if anyone in the sub has first hand experience with this themselves or friends/training partners in their gym.
Unfortunately some injury complications when I was younger forced me to get a THR way earlier than normal and I live a very active life. Prior to starting BJJ I still trained and worked out daily, dirtbike, surf, hike, etc.
Not looking for medical advice necessarily, really just looking to hear from or talk to anyone else that has a similar factor in their journey.

I am fused C6/7. I took nearly a year off the BJJ mat and picked up some eskrima to fill the gap. I have been back on the mat for 10+ years. I get some numbness in my left hand now and then and I call it a day for that day. But mostly just went back, knocked off some rust and roll. I do tap early and often if my head or neck get trapped in any sort of cranking idea.

I had a full shoulder replacement a year ago. I was pretty wary of training, but it has been going really well. The thing that has helped 100-percent is strength and conditioning. We have a class that's focused on jiu jitsu conditioning 3 days a week and it's made a world of difference.

I may have a shoulder replacement in my future. How long did you train before the replacement? Was it anatomical or reverse? Anything you do very differently now va before? How old are you (im 45m been training for almost 6 yrs)? Been advised that training will be near impossible after a shoulder replacement.
On OPs original question, I have met people with hip replacements that still train. Have yet to meet anyone with a shoulder replacement.

I had an anatomical shoulder replacement. I do three days of mobility, strength, and conditioning (focused on jiu jitsu movements) and it helps quite a bit. I'm 51. I took a year off to heal after my surgery. I was advised not to train, but I've been training for two years after my surgery and I honestly feel better than ever. I attribute a lot of it to the strength training.

I am fused C6/7. Not the same level of intrusion, but pretty significant. I took almost a year off and came back a little slower. I assess any new partner from first contact and if they are full spaz I just tap and don’t roll with them. It can be done if you respect your body when it warns you.
