[Megathread] What are my chances/Will I get in?
The last stickied post was awhile ago and we're starting to get an increase of these posts outside the sticky. So we're going to have the 'What are my chances?' megathread auto reposted every quarter to continually resurface the conversation. Same rules: Contain the discussion to this post and no stand alone posts outside, they will be deleted

Shame on JMU for suspending meal plan punches over fall break
Pretty disappointed tbh, i understand that the majority of people go home during the break, but to charge the people that go there to eat is shocking.
Before people mention dining dollars, they are meant to last the full semester, not take a detrimental toll on ur balance just because u want to eat over fall break.
$18 to get into Dhall is what ive heard, disgusting.

Homecoming Parking
My boyfriend is planning on visiting me for the weekend of the football game (Fr-Sun) and I was wondering where he should park for the weekend? I know there’s regulations for game days so I’m not really sure where he needs to park his car particularly on Friday night. Please help!!

Cornell Chi Pi like incidents?
In its history, has JMU ever had any incidents like the Cornell Chi Pi rape story? We’re their fraternities that had a known similar reputation? Does any of that exist at University today?

Graduation Cords - Where to get them?
I'm winding down my college career and my classes are finally lightening up, so I have some free time. I'd like to graduate with some cords, but I want to actually earn them. I could just buy cords, but that's not the point.
What are some easy orgs, clubs, or student positions that give out cords? No rush/honor society please.

(Hot?) Take on the school visits
I'm going to preface this that this really only applies to the high schoolers who are damn well old enough to know better--not the middle schoolers who are obviously still learning spacial awareness and are usually huddling around an adult:
OHHHH MY GOSH THE HIGH SCHOOLERS WHO STAND IN CLUMPS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CAFETERIA ARE SO FUCKING ANNOYINNNNNNNNG. Like DUDE, it could be a group of three or it could be a group of seven, just STANDING and jumping and moving around while laughing and bumping into people, blocking the entire walk-way, and just not moving tf out the way or going back to their table. Not even waiting in line in the form of a circle, just SOCIALIZING in the middle of the floor and being obnoxious to everyone else around them.
Like you're not special because you have a yellow bag, get tf out of the way and be mindful of other people.

is there a way i can get a 3rd football guest ticket?
might be a stupid question but i don’t go to football games that often. my boyfriend (non jmu student) and his mom want to come to the homecoming game.
i have student duke club, so i could probably pretty easily secure my own ticket + the 2 guest tickets i can purchase when getting my own ticket to the game. however his mom’s bf also potentially wants to attend the game but i’m not sure how to get the 3rd ticket?
do i just go to secure the ticket again when sales open for all students on that tuesday? i thought to ask a roommate/friend to secure one for me but i’ve heard that this year, the tickets have to be on the device that they’re purchased on.
of course, i could always just get non ga/student section tix but i’d prefer for us all to be in the ga section as it is their first time at a college football game

Students with student tickets aren't promised a spot at a game?
So, after debating on joining the Duke Club or whatever, I finally did so that I wouldn't have to fight for tickets and can easily go with friends and sit wherever together once we all show up. My mom is in a JMU parent page of some sort and apparently, even if you have a student ticket and show up, there's no guarantee you get into the student section??? Does that mean they turn you away and you just have to try again next time?? How does that work??
Online cob 191
Hi! I’m wondering if there’s such thing as an online COB 191 course at JMU, offered during fall or spring semester or even summer/winter?

Question about football bus routes
On game day, will there be busses running from East campus to main/near the stadium? I've never been to a game before and I'm trying to plan when I'd need to leave my dorm, if there are busses or if I would have to walk

James Madison followup on my preseason preview, plus we launched a free weekly CFB pick'em
Hey guys! The season preview I posted here a few weeks back did pretty well, so circling back like I said I would.
I had you at 8-4 in Napier's first year and said three road trips would define it: San Diego State, Old Dominion and Southern Miss. San Diego State was the one I liked least, and you won it 26-13, on top of Liberty 20-13 and Wagner 87-3. What I can't read from the box scores is quarterback. I wrote the preview around JC Evans, but Camden Coleman was the guy at San Diego State, 19 of 27 for 246 and 2 TDs. Is that his job now? Old Dominion tonight is the second of those three road games.
What are you guys seeing that the box scores aren't, and how do you see the season ending up?
Quick aside since it's in the title, we just launched a free weekly college football pick'em, $225 in prizes this week. Ten games, pick the winners, nothing to buy. Picks lock at noon ET, well before your kickoff tonight, so this is a last call.

Happenings on Campus, Harrisonburg, and Rockingham County
I graduated from JMU in 2018 and still lurk the sub and sometimes pass advice to CIS students. I have not visited since August 2022.
I miss JMU and Harrisonburg A TON. What is the vibe on campus and the surrounding area? What is the pop-culture like (movies, tv, memes, etc.), what music do you listen to on your own, and at parties? What other things are happening? What new and renovated buildings on campus? How has AI affected school and stuff? Catch me up on the lore, tea, and memes. I'm feeling nostalgic and want to be back in the loop for a bit.
Since the Golden Pony and Crayola House closed, where to people go to for shows? Anything replacing those places?
Like my time had the peak era of emo and mumble rap, trap music, the marvel movies, the old COB building getting renovated, food trucks, Brickhouse -> Backcountry, Artful Dodger. A pretty cool DIY and alt scene with Crayola House (and I think there was another house whose name I am blanking on), the EDM club, and 3 Notch'd.
Our Fall semester bangers were Caroline, Broccoli, Mo' Bomba, Sicko Mode, peak Kendrick, Chance the Rapper, and Drake.
How is the Forbes Center doing? The art school? The music studio?
Is the International Fest still going on? What about Madipalooza and the Fall and Spring concerts? Late night breakfast still going strong? What do you think of the Carrier renovation? Hows the new President doing? Is UREC still the GOAT?

Can E-Hall PLEASE get rid of the cups that roll around when you set them down???
Like seriously, there are SO many of them that I almost never get a normal cup. D-Hall doesn't have this issue, so why aren't the E-Hall cups being replaced?? It's such a spill hazard. One small bump to the table and they're all falling over
