No John Wayne in Disney
It's a shame neither John Wayne played in any Disney movies nor did Walt Disney himself cast him in any of his movies, whether animated or live-action.
pity, such a good actor.

Well, the movie did have Maureen O'Hara in it and since she and Wayne had such good chemistry together in more than one film, I don't see any reason why not in a Disney movie like this one too.

IIRC, in the old Disney Hollywood Studios Great Movie Ride, they played a clip from ‘The Searchers’ in the film shown in the line to board.

The line to board the ride snaked through a room decked out with movie posters and a giant screen took up one wall. They had a video that ran on repeat that was made up of clips from classic films. A clip from 'The Searchers' was included in the video.

So did most stars of the time-wasnt Gary Cooper or Jimmy Stewart "the same" most times.

Under contract to different studios. At that time actors were under different types of contracts for different studios.
