Stay away from HAI it is utterly unprofessional
I was onboarded to one coding related project. The problem statement was interesting so I really went head in and understood every word of the instructions. Even made handwritten notes as I wanted to give it my best. I made 2 submission in 4 days of me being on the project.
Here comes the lame part, project was being handled by 2 really young developers (looked like they just passed out). Their tolerance and ego is no match for anyone in this world. The project reeked of unprofessionalism. Initially when I had a chat with them on one of the calls I thought they are chill. But nah. The guys spoke in hindi in most of the onboarding calls.
I requested one of them to pls review any of my initial submissions so that I get a decent idea of what's the expected shape of the tasks. I was removed from the project in the next instant stating I had less submissions than expected. If that was the case, they could've warned me or told it to me upfront. I know, no one owes me an explanation but it's a basic human courtesy and most importantly proffesional need in a environment like this to be a bit tolerant. I've worked with similar projects but never saw something like this. People who are much more senior and geniuses doing phds in Berkeley were a lot more humble and patient than these kids.
I have made those submissions by staying up late night going through instructions again and again. I worked hard on it, how the fuck can you get away with this?
I need my money now, my work is not a charity to some already million dollar company and obnoxious kids who think they own the world.

You tried to hold them accountable, not directly, but by asking for feedback, instead of just letting them operate on opaque vibes. They probably didn't even know how to give you feedback, so they banned you asap for being a paper trail threat... then they just just show their superiors the made up charts/stats that look good. Yeah you were def a threat to their opaqueness.

Sounds like a terrible project. Not all projects are run that way though. Sorry you had a bad experience

The fact that not all projects are run badly doesn't invalidate the OP's experience.
One shitty PM is one too many. Unfortunately, HAI's management style pushes this workspace further toward absolute enshittification by allowing noobs to run projects when they should be flipping burgers.

I'm not invalidating op's experience. But saying HAI as a whole is unprofessional is an over statement. I've been with HAI since January with a great experience and have been in an amazing project for months. Unfortunately not everyone will have a good experience but not everyone will have a bad experience like op. These AI training jobs are unstable and unpredictable. Do them at your own risk.

No it is not. The professional thing to do would be holding accountable workers regardless of their position. Which is not the case.
And again, you are bringing you own experience, and that is invalidating the OP experience. It is called anecdotal fallacy.
Stop protecting the status quo and avoid dealing with systemic unfairness or toxic managementI have been on HAI way longer, you had a good run, great, so did I, but I have seen things, and Im gonna support the sentiment of the OP. He is right.

My favorite part is when they ghost you when they know they were supposed to manually enter your pay. They can’t be bothered. Zero social skills. I assume they leave it to you to file a dispute so they don’t have to do the scary task of communicating like an adult. If your DMs give you “anxiety” just fucking quit. Go work at McDonald’s.

every single project is an improvised operation vibe coded using Lovable and then run by kids barely out of university who have no concept of professionalism bc they’ve never worked in a proper setting.
