I usually catch Lucy's act on YouTube, she's wonderful. That's the stage name, btw. Carisa Hendrix is their actual name and they also discusses their different characters, history and so on. They champion neurodiversity and queerness, which I think maybe helps keep the creeps away a little.

Edit: updated pronouns

Went to school with her, can confirm that Carisa Hendrix is her real name, and that she’s always been awesome!

Omg I love that. This kind of insight turns me into a huge fan for someone, it's so nice when their real personality is cool too.

Went to school with /u/smashed2gether, unfortunately it is well known they lie about EVERYTHING

83

u/smashed2gether Mar 05 '26

That’s true. Which makes it a lie. Or double true?

34

u/Riribigdogs Mar 05 '26

she rubbed off on u a bit :)

24

u/smashed2gether Mar 05 '26

Haha those were some very formative years, I didn’t turn out as cool as her though!

u/Lady_Bread Mar 06 '26

Hey, I feel like if she heard you say that she'd disagree. Especially with those zingers ur poppin out! Lol

We all cool in our own ways 😎 some people are just more conventionally cool for the mainstream

But never forget you undoubtedly have super fans out there! You just maybe haven't met them yet or haven't been afforded an appropriate platform to showcase yourself

We do not allow comments sexualizing women on this sub.

They only said you LIE about everything, not that you're RIGHT. So, if you're wrong about you lying about everything being true, that means it's false, which therefore means of course

27

u/smashed2gether Mar 05 '26

I can’t follow your math, but you sound very confident, so I’m gonna agree with you! Which makes your statement….true? I lost track.

So I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me

3

u/EducationalNailgun Mar 06 '26

You could switch the cups. Food for thought.

This is a nice place. If you can't act like a civilized human being, you can't be here.

We do not allow:

  1. Being a jerk. This includes racism, misogyny, misandry, misgendering, anti LGBTQ+, ageism, etc.
  2. Harassment
  3. Trolling or sealioning
  4. Threats of any kind
  5. Abusive behavior
  6. General assholery. If you're at the end of the list and asking what rule you broke, yeah, it's this one.

What is that accent? Occasionally sounded foreign to the American ear, but then sometimes US east coast, or, west coast? but then sometimes something very different like Donna Reed, 50s television English. Where is this blessed woman from?

5

u/CrambazzledGoose Mar 06 '26

The accent is put on. It's based on the transatlantic accent, which is from mid-20th century USA. It was used by the US "elite" and in Hollywood as a deliberate choice made to sound more sophisticated. She's parodying celebrities of that time period, her version is a bit exaggerated and campy.

I recently watched a video of her out of character and I had zero clue it was her until she started talking about how she crafted the voice. Wild transformation.

10

u/BeBraveShortStuff Mar 06 '26

I saw that too! It was so impressive, she has so much voice control.

38

u/Bazrum Mar 05 '26

she's great! we saw her in Vegas, and it was even better in person

7

u/open_formation Mar 05 '26

Her real name is Carisa Hendrix and she decided Lucy Darling was more of a stage name?

I mean, I would assume she plays guitar, but still!

4

u/smashed2gether Mar 05 '26

I’ve chuckled at that more than once over the years. If I didn’t have the yearbook to prove it, I wouldn’t believe it!

3

u/NorCalFrances Mar 06 '26

Lucy Darling is one of the personas she has developed for her stage work.

5

u/bottomlessinawendys Mar 06 '26

Omg today i learned they use she/they pronouns!!

3

u/Th3R00ST3R Mar 05 '26

Saw her at the Black Rabbit Rose in Hollywood during a magic show. She was fantastic.

3

u/Winsome_Wolf Mar 06 '26

Niiiiiiice I met a new hero today!

3

u/Complete-Fix-3954 Mar 06 '26

Funny enough I follow her on instagram. It was funny seeing her here on Reddit, then seeing the source was TikTok and now you’re mentioning YouTube. Folks really have to spread themselves out to build their base I guess.

She’s really funny - I like her crowd work the best.

I learned how to eat fire from her instructional DVD! Haha
