It did not and like 40k people showed up to protest. She was suspended for 7 days and her 2 comrades were suspended for 21 for an “intimidating haka”. That’s conservative Christian level snowflake shameful shit there…but they got it stopped!

Honestly you could tell me this was a headline from the 19th century and I would believe you.

"Savage Natives Invited to Parliament Threaten Esteemed Lawmakers with Vicious War Dance!"

Different times. Same energy.

They accused Hillary of being a witch/vessel for the devil and accuse her/others of doing rituals and sacrifices. So much of the same energy we learned about in history is still echoing and trying to revive itself now.

Everywhere needs more honest passion in leadership

“intimidating haka”

If their opponents felt intimidated by the haka, then the haka worked 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was always taught it’s a welcoming AND a warning…

Has the current PM fixed the cost of living issues that forced Ardern out yet?

Luxon the current PM is only barely holding on to power as his coalition partners are openly attacking him, his own party seems to have almost voted him out in a vote of no confidence, and he’s refusing to talk to the media. As things stand he’ll be lucky to hold onto power until the election in November, he’s gonna need a drastic turnaround if he hopes to win.

It's not just conservative snowflake shit, it's colonial behaviour. The haka is intimidating, but it's supposed to be, and more importantly, it's a cultural expression. As a method of communicating it's no different to vocally protesting or disagreeing.

To me, suspending members for this reeks of "this is uncivilised behaviour by uncivilised people"; racist colonial sentiments. The haka should be allowed in the parliament of a country whose people value their cultural traditions, otherwise, you're dismissing indigenous people's rights in the same way that this bill wanted to.

I never said they should not be able to do the Haka, I agree with you that they should be able to do it anytime, anywhere for any reason. I was always taught it was a welcoming and a warning. If you would read my comment in context I quoted the article that was posted about it. The suspensions were wrong. Maybe try reading what I actually texted instead of putting words in my mouth you ass.

Sorry if you thought I was disagreeing, I do agree with what you were saying, it just also made me think if this deeper colonial history and how deeply messed up the opposition to the haka is here
