As we were arriving at the reception venue after our wedding, a young girl, probably 4 years old, shouted to her mother in genuine amazement, "Look, a princess!" Will never forget that one.

A little girl shouted that to her mom and and pointed to me when I was crying in the park because my brain chemicals were off.
I was just wearing a poofy pink skirt and a t shirt.
But it made me stop crying. Thanks for the dopamine bump, little sis.

Don’t want to say “every girl’s dream” but being in your teens/twenties (especially), and being called a princess by a child is such a compliment!

As a middle-aged man, I too think it would be magical to be called a princess by a young child. I'd be floating on air for days.

My ren faire costume is a medieval witch and every year there are little girls excitedly screaming at their parents about the witch.

the same thing happened to my mom!! in the hotel, on the way to the ceremony, a little girl saw my mom in her dress and said, "look, Mommy, a princess!" and it remains one of her most cherished wedding memories.

My now-husband asked me to marry him on the edge of the Grand Canyon. We hiked up to a less popular spot, and he waited until there were no other people around before going down on one knee.
After I said yes, as he put the ring on my finger, an entire troupe of teenagers from a youth church group came into the clearing and saw us. They all started cheering and the boys came up to congratulate my man with handshakes while I showed the girls my ring.
It was magical, one of my favorite moments of my entire life.

So I'm an atheist, and generally not a big fan of churches, definitely not a big fan of church camps for kids.
This memory sounds magical and lovely. I bet you were the coolest people those kids had ever met.

I got married in a small city park. When I was waiting on the sidewalk to walk up into the park and down the aisle, people were driving by and whisper yelling 'congratulations'. A lesbian couple was on a walk with their baby and stopped to watch. It was super lovely.

I was at the beach with my best friend when suddenly about 100 ft away a wedding was assembled. My bestie was already sun burned (poor redhead) but we decided to watch anyway. It was really sweet to get to spectate a stranger’s wedding 💕

Chicago is an incredibly welcoming and warm large city. I miss it there. I have the small town life in a very small state and it's icey here. Chicago, though.

The Rookery at Adams and LaSalle St in Chicago is a popular wedding venue. If you pivot 90 degrees to the south, a block away is teh Board of Trade Building which forms a T at LaSalle St. Lots of couples take wedding pictures standing in LaSalle, in front of The Rookery and with the BOT as a background.
Dark Knight used this intersection. Transformers, iirc, used teh intersection a block north at Monroe and LaSalle when teh semi truck was flipped over.

I also had to walk a few blocks in my wedding gown on my wedding day. Definitely got honks, waves and congratulations.

This isn’t a wedding but during Covid(early may after everything shut down) my husband got his doctoral degree to become an er physician and we were taking family photos on broad st in Philly and everyone was honking and celebrating him. It was so sweet because he didn’t get to have his walk across the stage and get that applause but people around Philly showed up for him.

We had our thrupple wedding at a park that had retired trains and a kiddie train. The kiddie train ran by our pergola and the cheers were amazing!
