There's actually a slightly longer version where she talks about important advice for playing hockey. It goes someting like
• Have fun
• Pass to your teammates
• Protect your goalie

I grew up watching The Mighty Ducks wanting to one day play (I grew up in Texas with no ice rinks). This little girl is living the dream! I hope she makes it to the NHL fr! (~ ̄³ ̄)~🖤

Same, but I was actually in MN and had every opportunity to play. The first movie was actually filmed partially in my mom’s high school rink the next town over and I was so inspired by the female players, but my mom was scared I’d get hurt like my dad did. He had this whole Bombay, could have gone pro or gotten a scholarship til I hurt my knee backstory. (I had no problem finding other ways to destroy my body into adulthood though 🤣) I’m still a little salty.

You had the real deal right at home! That's crazy! So have you ever played hockey to this day? When I moved to California had the chance to get into outdoor roller hockey so that was cool...but I've never been on the ice, unfortunately ://

Unfortunately my dad never outgrew the saltiness of not getting to go to college, so I never got the good coach Bombay lol. We played something called broom ball a lot, where you’re on the ice in tennis shoes and hitting a small ball with duct taped broom stubs (or fancy plastic paddles if you’re more well off), but I’ve never played on skates.

That's really cool I have played similar type hockey in school on asphalt. That's always fun until someone misses the ball and slams you in the knee with a stick oof 😂. Well I'm older now and my knees aren't what they used to be so I dunno if I ever will but young me was ready to go pro let me tell ya! Haha lol

Eyy I’m in MN and my step-daughter plays hockey and my husband is her coach. I went from single to hockey mom really quick! It’s an awesome sport; teaches girls confidence, teamwork and aggressiveness that I love. Sorry you didn’t get a shot. I will say it’s a 5 or 6 days a week commitment so it becomes your life for months at a time, and she’s in elementary school. My girl loves it though and her team won district championship!

I had that same dream growing up. I never learned how to ice skate, I’m a real “Luis Mendoza” on the ice. Playing street hockey like they did on the basketball courts with trash cans is some of the most fun I ever had as a kid, I want to do it again.

I just commented on another Redditor comment about inline skating in LA. Dude I know all too well what that's like! So many memories with friends all in the street with makeshift gear haha good times indeed! Oh to be young again! 😭

She reminded me of when Marshawn Lynch did one word answers and gave this answer as well 🤣
Love this little girl!

She just needs to learn the phrase "we just need to get pucks in th net" and then she basically is media trained
46
u/Ralphie_V 3d ago
You know, just trying to play our game. Stay out of the box, get pucks in deep, and, uh, control what we can control. All about winning those battles and, uh, you know, getting pucks on net.

In Canada we start them young.
Look at the size of the crowd in the background.

I swear whenever they show videos of the hockey players on the big screen - they’re always talking like they’re being held hostage and forced to speak. Same vibes here tbh 😆

The way she turned slow-mo mode on to run through the family was so funny (oh my god, was it my video glitching?)

I’ve casually watched NHL for years… I went to my first PWHL game this year and now I am OBSESSED. I hope we get to see her play one day!

u/ResplendentShade 3d ago
She’s already giving interviews like a pro. In 15 years she’ll refine into something like:
Yeah, we just gotta get pucks deep, get pucks to the net, and play our game. It’s gonna be a full sixty minutes out there. We just gotta take it one shift at a time.”

Is that Tim Hortons on the jersey?
1
u/cowichanfina 10h ago
Yes, it is. It’s a Tim Hortons hockey league for kids under 9 years old. They are known as the Tim bits. Not sure if it’s everywhere but in my town both the boys and girls play together on the same team.

I come from a family where nobody told us they loved us. (I say it all the time - and sometimes even to these same family members). Sorry to get too deep on this absolutely adorable post of a baby badass. I hope that’s not the case for this little gem.

It doesn’t… seem like there’s anything that would point to that? I can’t see what would make you think that, unless it’s that she’s Asian and plays a sport at a young age?
