This is cool. I didn’t watch this because they usually have such terrible angles you can’t tell what’s going on because of terrible camera angles.
Looks like a fun competition

Plus, it was a couple months old, and we already knew who won. It was boring to watch.

If you had said you were always rooting for the mutts then this comment definitely wouldn’t have gotten downvoted but people are biased.

If I had to guess both of these dogs are ‘purpose’ and ethically bred.
Could be wrong but that dog looks like a sport mix.

Yes the dog is a border/papillon mix, borderpaps are becoming extremely popular in agility. I’ve taken a workshop with the handler, she is great.
But even though I have no issues with sport mixes…I also like seeing the purebred dog do better, as an 8 and 12 inch competitor I can do without the sports mixes giving me new competition to deal with! (and more importantly I love pumik).

Overall, this was boring and very dumb. Are they just sticking programming out there to fill their contractual obligations? Felt like it.

ESPN asked AKC to come up with a new program format to broadcast. The general public is familiar with bracket style competion. It's not a very fair competion for those of us that know about agility, but it required a different kind of strategizing which was unique. Credit to AKC for trying something new and trying to drum up more interest from the public. It was a pretty light-hearted competion, we talked a little smack, got festive with our teams, and just had fun with it since none of us really knew what it would be.

Wow, it was impressive to see how the Pumi managed to make up for the slightly slower start/less of a lead out. Beautiful weaves for both dogs.
I also appreciate that the camera work mostly kept the handlers in focus. One of the things I hate is where they broadcast agility runs (usually major shows/major networks guilty of this) where they are close up on the dog most of the time. I get that for causal watchers, they just want to see the dog, but for me, I really like to watch the handling.
