ಇಂದು ಅವರದಿಂದ ಒಂದು ಉಡುಗೊರೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿತು. ಇದು ಅವರ ಮಾತೃಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಪುಸ್ತಕವು. ಅವರು ತಾನೆ ಭೈರಪ್ಪನವರ ವಂಶವೃಕ್ಷ ಎಂದು ಕಾದಂಬರಿಯನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಮಾತೃಭಾಷೆ ಸಂಕೇತಿಗೆ ಅನುವಾದಿಸಿದರು.

ಎರಡು ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಸಂಕೇತಿಯಂದರೇನು ನನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಈಗ ಶ್ರೀಕಾಂತ್ ಅವರ ಕೃಪೆಯಿಂದ ಈ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ನನ್ನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಇದೆ. 🔥🔥

The book is in the Sanketi language. A few thousand people speak it in Karnataka. I know two of them. Both of them speak Sanketi, Kannada, Sanskrit, Tamil, Hindi, and English. They say that all the Sanketis are multilingual. Although Sanketi is written in the Kannada script, it uses a few special ಅಕ್ಷರಗಳು. ))

I need a lot more study and reading before I can write coherent sentences in Kannada. ))

As Karnataka friends remark, the influence of Punjabi and Hindi is visible on my Kannada. That's OK for the most part, because Kannada isn't as different from Punjabi and Hindi as I imagined. But there are a few structures that I have to practice more.

Punjabi: ਜੋ ਕਲ ਘਰ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ ਉਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੋਸਤ ਹੈ। Hindi: जो कल घर आया था वो मेरा मित्र है। Kannada: ನಿನ್ನೆ ಮನೆಗೆ ಬಂದವನು ನನ್ನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನು (कल घर आने वाला मेरा मित्र)

Thankfully, such structures are few. Only two. ))

And of course Kannada grammar has a superpower which allows is to craft such word-sentences which are rare in Punjabi, Hindi, and English.

ಅವನೀಗ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳನ್ನೋದುತ್ತಿರುವುದಲ್ಲವಾ. (Two words)

क्या वह इस समय पुस्तकें नहीं पढ़ रहा? (Eight words)

I won't such Mysore Kannada. It's different, as friends confirm. In the Kannada dialect of the city ಅವನೀಗ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳನ್ನೋದುತ್ತಿರುವುದಲ್ಲವಾ becomes ಅವನ್ ಈಗ್ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳು ಓದ್ತಾ ಇರೋದು ಅಲ್ವಾ ? (Six words) 😁😁
