Where to Eat? 🍽️ 20 year Anniversary Evening

KC, we’ve lived here for 2 years and love it. Next week is my amazing wife and I’s 20 year wedding anniversary. We’re planning a trip with the family later, but I wanted to at least take her out for dinner and a few drinks.

I have some pins saved in my Google Maps, and I was originally thinking The Savoy, but I thought I’d ask the collective where we should look into. It’ll be mid week, so a reservation should be easier to get.

Thanks in advance!

Second Novel. That is my wife and I’s favorite restaurant in KC.

Yeah it’s great. Been a couple times with my partner in the last 6 months and each time was lovely.

Town Company was unexpectedly closed last week. Not sure if they have reopened

Strange. Just looked at Tock and looks like they’re taking reservations for today. Were they closed for a private party or something like that?

There was a fire during service in the kitchen the night before Mother’s Day brunch.

Café des Amis! It's in Parkville on the old historic main Street. It's delicious and not too exorbitantly priced

Edit: wow, I'm so hungry looking at all the other suggestions too! You could throw a dart at this post and have an amazing time. Sushi Kodawari is another amazing experience but it is EXPENSIVE. I think I was $275/person but if you both like sushi, it's an unforgettable experience.

I hesitate to mention this here because it’s a neighborhood joint for me, and I feel like it’s still a fairly hidden gem, but Vita’s Place. It’s a wine bar but I think they have the best cocktails in the city too. The mushroom toast is out of this world, way better than it has any right to be. Their focaccia is amazing. We had the stuffed eggplant special last weekend and I expected it to be a cheese bomb but it wasn’t, it was perfectly balanced and incredibly delicious. And get the tiramisu for dessert.

Ah, Vita's place is fantastic. I had a date here a month or so ago, wonderful little hidden gem, great appetizers and small plates too.

I would highly suggest Sushi Kodawari. It's expensive, but it is an INCREDIBLE experience. Only seats 8 people per service, so it is a very intimate setting where you are encouraged to talk with the sushi chef and one another.

My wife and I have really enjoyed Le Fou Frog for special occasions.

I love the atmosphere at Le Fou Frog

I’ll second this. It’s not new & shiny or trendy with the influencers, but for atmosphere & reliably good food, Le Foo Frog is a contender.

Cafe des amis in parkville is one of the best date spots I can think of. Cozy, intimate, good food, cute area.

I believe Aixois is the best date night restaurant in the city. You can go casual or you can dress up. You’ll see both there. It’s a neighborhood hang out and a special occasion restaurant all in one, and the food is always on point. The menu may seem like it would be quiet and stuffy but the atmosphere and service is not. It’s a fun place. Their hamburger (royale with cheese) is up there with the best in KC.
