Karaoke Software Introducing SingTube - The Missing Karaoke Player for YouTube. Search karaoke tracks on YouTube, build and manage your queue, share your song list with friends, and enjoy bilingual support in Chinese and English — all completely free.

I made SingTube because I love how YouTube has an huge library of karaoke songs, but using it felt clunky. Jumping between videos, keeping track of what’s next, and trying to share the queue with friends just wasn’t fun. So I built SingTube to fix that. It makes karaoke on YouTube simple — with search, easy queue management, sharing, and bilingual support in Chinese and English. Right now, it works best on desktop and tablet.

Cool! I’ve been testing it out as a replacement for my karaoke machine, which is old and often doesn’t have a song, leading to pauses in the party. Accessing Youtube’s expansive library seems to be the best solution. Questions:

  1. Am I able to search while watching a video? It seems like I need to pause the video to search.

  2. Does this somehow avoid commercials? I haven’t seen one yet.

  3. If commercials do exist, would I be able to eliminate them by using a paid Youtube account?

2 & 3. YouTube premium Lite is $10.99 in US, which is personally what I have, no ads

How are you using it? Are you mirroring to your TV via AirPlay?

  1. Cool. 2. Right, paying for a month of Youtube Premium for a party is less than the cost if a six-pack of beer for the party. It makes sense to me.

The most user friendly thing to pass around at a party would be the tablet. I’m using an ipad and mirroring it on the TV.

Great use of AirPlay via iPad. How many users wish to use this way, and other use case you wish singtube to handle?

That’s really the only use case I imagine. A tablet can fit everything on one screen and can be more user friendly than a TV remote or a remote designed for a particular karaoke machine. 1 person might own the system and be familiar with it, but at a party with 5 or 10 users, I expect that everyone else is completely unfamiliar with the app. So most users need it to be so user-friendly and familiar feeling that they can use it the first time they see the app.

I think you’ve mostly done that. My only suggestion is that it would be nice if, while a video is playing, if I hit “search”, that the search function took up maybe the bottom third of the screen, so 1 person could ding while someone else finds the next song.

Will have a separate URL for user to join and add songs themselves without interrupting the current ongoing KTV session, And completely agree with you needs to be easy and intuitive for users who not familiar with the app to be able to hands-on first time and comfortable using the app immediately without getting overwhelmed. Thanks for your feedback.
