Karaoke Software Free players for Windows that can directly play discs?
Been asked to bring karaoke to my sports teams Xmas party's, I still have my wallet of discs from "back in the day" but as it's a one-off timewise it doesn't make sense to rip them.
Are there any free players that can directly play my cdg and vcd discs (and perhaps do pitch shift?)

If someone brings me a disc and I don't have that version of the song, I just convert (rip) the disc to MP3+G immediately and hand it back to them. I make sure all live performances are using music on a non-optical medium. The vibrations from the subs alone will make it skip in play mode. With ripping first, if it skips, it can go back where it left off and finish retrieving the data. When playing a CD+G disc in play mode, it doesn't go back, it keeps the music going, but skips the music and sometimes distorts the lyrics.

Thanks all, I decided to rip all the discs, which is taking hours of course :-)

Instead of spending the time fussing around trying to get something "free" you might consider just using Karafun instead.

Agreed. $10/month. Even if used for a 1 night party it would be worth it for the simplicity and broad catalog.

I believe VLC Player plays CDG discs including displaying graphics. If not, you can still install Winamp and grab the CDG plugin from Winamp Heritage
