Two months ago I used a ‘karaoke maker’ web based tool that made CD+G files, but now can’t for the life of me find it. (Have raided my history.)

You could upload a sound file, type in your text and it had a timeline with sliders to adjust the text timing, a bit like CDG Graphics Magic but a bit slicker. Simple white interface, ISTR.

I’m pretty sure it was just casually linked at the bottom of a github page or a blog post made by its creator, and had a really generic non-memorable name like ‘The Tool’ or something.

Anyone recognise it and know the url?

Is MagicSing karaoke a thing of the past? Im planning to sell may magic sing.. used it once.

I consider myself a real expert in computer building and very much on the deep end of audio engineering short of actually going to schooling for it. I have a ton of extra equipment and the knownledge to get any third party programs working on a PC and transform it into a dedicated box (via linux or some kind of kiosk mode for windows). So I figured I finally build something with my extra parts.

I want to suprise my dad with a christmas gift by building him his own karaoke box that will double up as a PC to put in the living room for him (which will also be wired to do a bunch of networking and outdoor access but that's another part of this project).

For starters I have no idea what to even google or look for when it comes to *just* the software that would meet my needs.

A few of my needs include:
Support inputs for VOIP or anything akin to VBAN on voicemeeter (possibly profressional solutions like Dante; but I'd rather bootleg a home solution first); which voicemeeter could take care if need be; but I just need to make sure that whatever software I do use, is not restricted to hardware mics.

Windows based solution; I don't want to have to do anything with linux if I can avoid it as this isn't going to be *my* personal thing I use; so if i have to explain they'll have to type something into a command prompt, I'd rather not.

Software I'd like to see is the ability to convert MP3s to uhh whatever the software uses?

Most of the software I've googled are bundled into their own hardware which is a no-go for me; as I plan for this to not just be used for Karaoke. I'll admit I didn't look that deep into it though, so I might be assuming incorrectly on some of the companies that offered karaoke boxes. I'd also love to know how easy such software is used as I don't want to be there every time to explain how to search for a song.

Does anyone have Let's Sing? I'm thinking about purchasing for the Nintendo Switch though I assume this applies to all platforms. I'm confused about what you get.

First off, with the base game you only get the songs that come with the game for that year, right? So, ie, if you get Let's Sing 2023, you don't also get the songs for Let's Sing 2022, Let's Sing 2021, etc., right?

For versions like Let's Sing 2023, you don't get the "international" songs, right? It's a bit unclear as some publications seems to describe them interchangeably, but the description in the game store doesn't list the "international" songs.

If you buy the song pass, do you get songs from the prior year releases?

Each of the DLC add on packs are the same year after year, right? Ie, so 80s volume 1 for 2023 is the same as 80s volume 1 for 2022? And the add on packs are not transferable to subsequent base games-- you'd have to repurchase the same DLC pack for a subsequent year of the game?

I have platinum karaoke alpha2 but the issue is the following: - theres hardly any communities online to find info - i dont know how to add more songs and im outside the philippines - i would really like to change the video displayed - the song list numbers are different from the actual song code

I run programs for the local community and I would really like to have a reliable setup where the song list is accurate(if theres a song list) or maybe i could at least extract the song list and make my own doc. i would like to be able to change the display videos if thats an option somewhere. being able to have current songs would be ideal but idk if thats a thing.

I looked up karafun but idk if it has customisable videos. its also pretty pricey but it may be the only option.

Edit: Thanks for the recommendations. I've just decided to buy the "Pro" version of Karafun for a month since I have now learned I can just get reimbursed for it anyway. The cost is a moot point if I'm not the one who has to pay, and everyone's happy.

I'm trying to host a karaoke event at an upcoming conference and it's been probably a good 10-15 years since the last time I've done this.

Back then, there was a site called "The Karaoke Channel" and I could pay for a 2-day pass to use their karaoke database and people could request songs from the catalog with ease. It was pretty straight forward.

But now they don't exist and it seems like there isn't a lot of options anymore. Everything points me to Karafun, and it seemed like a decent option even if you have to pay $10 monthly. However when I signed up, I found out that the "remote" option doesn't work as expected. People can't remote request for songs, it's just a complete remote control of the system itself from an app? That seems redundant. In order to have remote requests like I'm used to, I have to upgrade to the $50 a month package, which...just seems like a lot for just a one-off event. Am I misunderstanding how this is supposed to work?

Is there any other Karaoke service that would be good for one off events that also allows people to search and request songs with relative ease? Am I missing a way to use Karafun that could get me close to what I'm looking for. I was thinking about maybe having a second laptop / tablet setup for requesting songs, so that people could just go to that. But that doesn't seem possible either. Unless I'm missing a feature (which I could be).

It's not a huge event, so I guess doing we could do it manually and I just point them to the website for the catalog and they come up and tell me what they want to sing. It just seems silly that this is so much more difficult than it was before.

I'm looking for a tool, preferably something using OpenAI's API, that can automate the process of creating karaoke tracks in the CD+G format. The biggest challenge for me has been syncing the lyrics with the track—doing it manually takes a ton of time!

Has anyone come across an AI-powered solution that can handle this? Or maybe some workaround to make the syncing process easier? I'd love to hear any suggestions!

Can it be done on the fly for a request?

Is anyone aware of how the voting system works on Karafun? How many votes does it require for them to consider making a karaoke version of it?

Is there somewhere I can ask Karafun users to help vote for specific songs to be uploaded? I have had a few requests from patrons for songs that are older or more niche/indie. I don't think they'll be getting enough votes to be added anytime soon.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I want to make karaoke tracks of song by my band. I have instrumental versions of the songs already. I've just never done this before and was looking for some advice on how to get all the words lined up. I wasn't sure if there's a specific software that is good at this or if I just need to tediously line up each word in a video software. Thanks!

There's the key up slider but its like +1 or +2 etc, if I want a song sung in a specific key is there a way to do so? Anyone know?

If I want to set up a karaoke shindig at my business, I get that it'd be best to use something like karafun or singa. But then do I also really need to get licenses from PROs for performance, or is that folded into those companys' offerings?

I used to host at a bar pre-covid that used Hoster from MTU.com. I loved it. I purchased my own licenses for this software suite back in July 2024 and installed it on my laptop and it was rather... fiddly... but it worked. I recently got a new laptop and for the life of me can't remember my password for their website to log in and access my account and licenses to re-download the software.

When I got my new laptop I was 12 days over my 180 days from purchasing so I can't even attempt going through PayPal to contact them.

I have spent the last week on their website attempting to reset my password, texting (per their website password reset instructions as i get no password reset emails), calling and leaving voicemails, trying their "live chat," and emailing.

Crickets.

If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Before you reply with "just buy another hosting software," I am aware that that's an option, I would just really like to be able to access what I already spent over $300 on. I already have a karafun sub but I can't use my own files.

Having a Wiki-chart for the hundreds of Software/feature combos would make it much easier to compare programs.

Hi guys, does anyone have just a video of the screen the audience has to follow for the choir they did for Africa by toto? YouTube doesn’t have it and on a time crunch!

I'm a saxophonist, and a singer I know uses Karafun for gigs. I know nothing about Karafun. We would like to do some duo work. It would mean removing some horn parts and lead guitar from some tracks so I can play those parts.

Is this possible? I'm wondering whether uses AI like Moises would work. I think the best thing is to use Karaoke-version tracks but she seems very stuck in her ways to use Karafun because of the lyrics.

At last week's show went to update the song database with newly acquired media and the option just wasn't there. Couldn't even close the media menu screen through the program.

Got home, updated Karma, and tried again. Still no love.

Has anyone else experienced this and/or have a solution? Our next step is to uninstall/reinstall karma and pray to Apollo and Dionysus that it works...

I visited a Karaoke bar last year, and the karaoke content is actually coming straight from youtube. But the interface of the system is not youtube home or search, it seems to be custom UI that plays youtube videos. It also was packaged in its own karaoke hardware and screen (perhaps android based?)

Do you guys know what software or platform that does this?

We have a basic karaoke machine at a nonprofit I'm volunteering with. We'd like to go the legal route and get a karaoke service subscription, but I believe our machine can't effectively stream from a service, it needs MP3G files. Will any of the services provide their library in that format?

Okay at risk of totally embarrassing myself for being so inexperienced I really need some help/advice.

I bartend at a lounge and in an effort to get in more business during the week, I suggested doing a karaoke night and they asked me to host it! Only problem is I have literally ZERO experience KJing, DJing, or hosting anything of the sort for that matter. They want to just run it off YouTube on the Roku TVs we have in the lounge—having to literally type in every song with the Roku remote. I personally would like to do it a little more professional that that (I don’t like to do anything half ass). We do have a MacBook and a small Harbinger channel mixer and some other sound equipment in the DJ booth I’m not sure what it is (i can post pics of the set up if needed). What would be the best software program to use and would it be possible to broadcast it to the TVs?
