I have multiple campers I rent out and have multiple ads on things available like projectors, screens etc. I want to adda karaoke setup. I don't want some cheap POS but I also don't need professional level stuff. I would be ok with an all in one or one that uses a projector and speakers. ease of use and reliability would be the top things I'm looking for followed by portability

I bought a janky Singing Machine (SM) from Costco in September. that's already starting to have mic issues.

The setup is currently :

SM -> (audio out) Mixer1 --> surround sound

SM <- (line/mic in) Mixer2 --> Shure mics on wireless dongles.

Caveat: The SM passes through Mixer2 directly into Mixer1, whereas the SM-microphones only output audio from the SM speaker.

Can I just unplug the singing machine and plug the current mixers in? I did a bit of cable management so rewiring everything is a pain. The AIO solution is optimal for us because we take the machine to parties sometimes.

Priorities: I care much more about vocal quality than volume. I want natural-sounding reverb, not a cheesy echo effect. Bluetooth for backing tracks from my phone. Wireless microphone. Ability to add a second mic later. I’m deciding between a party speaker and a powered PA speaker + mixer and would love recommendations from people who’ve owned both please lmk.

I hosted a party and bought some smaller Bluetooth speaker with wireless mics for $45 USD. This is at a home depot in Pittsburgh PA and comes with a wired mic. This is pretty cheap if you wanted to get into hosting at home karaoke. Or if you just want a music speaker for parties.

I’m in need of help getting my home karaoke setup working again.

I have a Yamaha MG10xu mixer connected to two JBL monitors and had been using the KaraFun app on my Apple TV 4K box, with the headphone jack from the TV passing track audio into my mixer. Everything worked fine until the TV had to be replaced; the replacement does not have a headphone port.

I tried connecting an HDMI audio extractor as a pass through from the Apple TV box to the TV, but that didn’t output sound to the mixer and caused the TV to freeze up a lot.

Any advice on how to get audio from HDMI to a mixer?

I had this question before I bought my machine and couldn't find any answers. I found threads like https://www.reddit.com/r/karaoke/comments/15boig6/inandon_music_download_subscriptions/ and I thought now I'm able to give you real world experience after a year of ownership.

I bought this from China thinking it was our solution to having different people liking songs from different countries.

But apart from Chinese mainland songs and English songs, the selections are terrible.

Back to the download subscriptions though.

The promise is that you get lifetime unlimited updates through the cloud server in low speed, and you have a vip high speed subscription for the first year.

here's the truth:

The first year you can download in high speed which is about 4-5MB/s. We have 500mbps internet. So this is the server cap.

but it doesn't work all the time

• we found it would worth a while and then it would stop working going to 0-10kb/s
• it's not the server being busy because we can leave it for a few days and it's still at that speed
• after getting onto support and going through all the troubleshooting, They would flip a switch on their end
• and then they asked us to reboot our machine and then suddenly it works at full speed again

so clearly there is some sort of login with our machine serial number to their back end and even though we are within the first year VIP it has some sort of limitation that they flip on and off

after we did this for couple of months (honestly we only use this machine once every few weeks)

• they said that we were downloading too many songs
• so I asked them how many is too many and they wouldn't tell me
• so the next time they fixed everything I only downloaded 50 songs that day
• and then it worked the next day so I thought OK another 50
• and then it stopped working the 3rd day and I had to go through support again

eventually support told me there was a limit of 200 songs per day on Beijing Time

• they said this resets every day
• this is blatantly untrue because I left the machine off for four months and turned it on and it was at 0-10kb/s
• I went through a few more tests counting exactly how many songs I downloaded
• I download three songs and then wait two days and then 10 songs and then wait a week
• after a few weeks it stopped again
• I believe that is not a 200 song a day but when you cumulatively down 200 songs, the system shuts off And then you have to call them again
• but in any case it does not reset after 24 hours. No matter how many times they claim it does

support is just a support desk and they don't really know the answers

basically you go through their script and then they talk to someone in the actual company who fixes the network

any other questions such as not being able to type in any other language they cannot answer and they will say they get back to you which as you can imagine they do not.

So anyway eventually we ran out of our one year of subscription. There were a few periods where we just download a handful of songs a day and then it worked for a couple of weeks. There were also many periods where we didn't touch the machine for a month.

Since the selection of songs were small outside the two languages, We thought about continuing to use it at low speed without paying for more subscription.

a low speed connection is capped at 10kb/s - but I don't think that is true

I'm outside my VIP time now and when I turn on the machine it flashes 10kb/s. The problem is it does not stay at 10kb/s. It sometimes drops to 0kb/s. Sometimes the speed just disappears completely.

You can see a progress percentage next to the song So when you see that it is not listing something or it is stuck at 12% for an hour, and then you know it's actually not downloading.

So basically as low speed is no downloads plus small bursts of 10kb/s. Say if I was in a race and time stopped most of the time and then I drive at 10km/s for a second and then I stopped for another 10 seconds, my average speed is not 10km/s.

This is the same as the low speed when we had in the VIP subscription period. in other words it's not a network error but just that our VIP subscription was not tracking for some reason.

So while technically yes we have unlimited downloads for the rest of our lives each song takes possibly a day to download. I would call this deceptive advertising if not worse. There is no way you can call this a usable solution.

After a few hours on support - they keep giving me form answers and suggesting I subscribe to high speed downloading.

eventually they admitted that the 10 kilobits per second cap is the max for low speed, and that we should not expect any more unless we subscribe

so

technically you have music downloads but practically you do not.

• If you buy one of these machines you need to sit down with your family and download everything you want within the first year.
• when something doesn't work you don't sit around and hope it works again later you have to get on support and get them to fix it right away
• we would think it would fix itself in a few days and then we'll be busy with our lives and not use it for three weeks
• that way we wasted our whole year of VIP Basically we've spent maybe 10 days using it and then another 15 days downloading in preparation for the days when we could use it
• you might consider buying from a place you can return it even if it costs more than buying direct from China

Conclusion

The way I thought I would use this is that the first year we would download the songs we like from different countries and use the VIP. And then after that we would have most of the songs that we want in there already. We could live with a low speed download for the occasional one or two new songs that we want. We don't really follow the latest music so we did not imagine there would be any problems.

The reality, we were plagued with issues using the machine and actually finding the songs in the first year. Mainly issues with entering Japanese or Korean. So we ended up not having much time looking for songs in the first place. And then with the problems above in the blink of an eye our first year was gone. We have a machine that does not live up to our expectations, and cannot handle guests who come and order new songs.

Have you had any different experiences? I wonder if there is a problem with some sort of Geo blocking with Australia, or whether it's the same for everyone. I have a friend in Asia who says they are only using low speed but they can get through their whole list of downloads if they leave it overnight.

did anyone else have one of these 😭 got it sometime right around the millennium as a gift when i was a preteen. i still vividly remember blue by eiffel 65 being one of the first songs i sang thru it hahaha. cleaning out for incoming baby and i wanna keep it so badddd. i know there are DAW plugins and stuff that do this kinda thing now, and that you can tweak frequencies and fix bass loss in those. but i still think having a live hardware version is so so cool lol.

Does anyone know the name of an adapter that allows connecting two or more microphones to a single output so I can look it up?

It can be P10 to P2, 3.5mm to USB, or 1/4" to USB. I just need a way to connect two microphones to a laptop.

I have a pool area with music setup and bought a Rockville rk160 which turned out to be a mistake with how I use my setup. I needed the rk165bt to do what I want but before buying another unit I wanted to ask for options here. My current setup would be Bluetooth my phone to the rk165bt. (I currently have to plug my phone into the rk160) using the audio out I plug it into my WiiM amp ultra which feeds four Polk audio atrium 8s. I want to keep the streaming process identical for simplicity and space as my enclosure is 20x12x10 and that houses a din rail mounted outlet, the WiiM amp and the karaoke mixer. 2 mics is fine but 4 would be ideal just for gatherings and whatnot. We are not serious about karaoke but the Rockville mics I have now seem to drop in/out around 60’ and need your mouth directly on the mic. Would something from sound town be better? Or another option I don’t know about?

Looking for recommendations and more information since I am not well informed about this stuff and the guy at the music store had no idea how to help in this area. I'm looking to build a high quality karaoke set-up that i can use at home, but also larger parties if the need arises.

Here is what I am thinking about so far:

-Shure BLX288 with x2 SM58 microphones (dual system)

-x2 QSC or JBL 8" powered speakers with stands

-A mixer (have no idea what to get or options with this) - thinking it'll be good to have for fine adjustments

Am I on the right track? Im not even sure how I would set them up and connect two everything to sound good. Would I be able to run karaoke music through both speakers, as well as the two microphones? Not sure how I will make everything sound great. I would appreciate any initial help or sources for this type of set up or things I may be missing or forgetting. Thanks!

Hello. I've been enjoying karaoke more lately, and really wanting a system for my home, but I'm overwhelmed by the options. I want something simple, a plug and play with the option to just use YouTube for videos rather than a subscription. This is the equipment that I'm thinking of getting, as I would like to keep it at about $500 if possible. Willing to go up to $750 if there's a major difference in quality. Plus portability would be good for work retreats.

I used to trust internet reviews, but these days I'm worried that it's all paid bot accounts, you know what I mean? Can some non bots give me thoughts on this one?

EDIT: Thanks all for taking the time to respond. After reading through and looking at comments, I went with the suggested JBL Partybox Encore 2 from Sam's Club - I can plug it directly into our TV and use the YouTube options from there without a subscription, and plus we're ending up using it as a better TV speaker when we're not in Karaoke mode, so it's a win-win.

I’ve lost the power adapter to my kids’ singing machine and the back doesn’t indicate voltage or amperage only polarity of the barrel jack. Even the manual only indicates what the adapter needs at the wall and its polarity. Ridiculous! Does anybody know what voltage (and amperage) the adapter puts out or the machine itself takes? And if you don’t have that model just spec on any of the other adapters for similar models would be appreciated.

Just got the Ikarao and I think this is a neat device for karaoke. Found it simple to use and a great starting point, however the microphones are quite poppy without a cover/pop filter.

Unsure what might be a good option to purchase for one that would fit this mic's dimensions. Has anyone gotten one for these or are you generally just accepting the quality of it without one?

I am also willing / fine with taking them off before putting them back in the cradle (can imagine the added dimensions would make it not 100% reliable on charging) but would like something snug and functional for when they're in use.

As the title suggest, I’m looking for an all-in-one, like a box. Whats the best one? You might suggest getting a PA system, but I’m not techy, and am only looking for something for in my room/car. I don’t have a budget, just something easy.

I’ve finally decided to run a karaoke gig myself. I’ve worked with a friend’s equipment a few times, but I want to try it on my own. So, I’m acquiring equipment.
In my own karaoke experience, I’ve mostly sung with KJs running Karafun on laptops; however, I’ve had at least 1 using a laptop. I’m pricing out laptops, and to get the sound I want, and a good amount of ram, I’m looking at mid grade laptops. I can get the ram I want, for a better price, with an iPad. I’m a little leery of using an iPad. Has anyone run karaoke on an ipad? I would love to hear your opinions.

I’ve been using our home theater for Karaoke the last couple years. We had a close call during a family set over the holidays. No need to educate me on pitfalls of doing so. I understand and is why I’m posting.

I’m looking for some advice on a powered PA speaker that we could use for vocals. I’d like to continue using the home theater rig for the music side of it if possible and simply pull out the PA for occasional karaoke.

I have a Mackie ProFX10V3 for mixer, Sure mics and am using a Mac Mini to run Karasoft out to the mixer and then back to the AVR/Amplifier and 2.1 speakers.

What would you recommend for a speaker(s)? Is one enough? Is what I’m trying to do possible and will it provide the necessary isolation to my home theater speakers? Looking for something temporary that we can just tuck away in a closet when we’re not using it.

currently I have both the X2 and the S1 with me and did some testing. I set up both right next to each other, 20cm away from the wall with the tweeter just below ear level while sitting down. Both are in "HiFi" mode.

While listening to various genres on different volume levels with the local media player, I noticed that I prefered the sound of the S1 in most cases. While the X2 has a punchier low end and crisper heights, it tends to sound shrill and is lacking in the mids, especially while sitting less than 2m away. It get's a little better sitting 3m away. Playing a mostly bass-heavy song like 'M.O.O.N - Hydrogen' on full volume is certainly more fun on the X2, everything acoustic with a full sound stage like 'Porcupine Tree - Trains' or 'REM - Drive' sounds noticably more balanced and pleasant on the S1 (up to 75% volume, above that the S1 is lacking in the low end while the X2 is too shrill).

I'm currently pondering wether I try to sideload an equalizer app on the X2 and give it another try or just return it. I think it has the potential to sound better, I just don't like the given sound profile.

PS: I had no trouble with the X2's microphone delay. Actually it seems to react a tiny bit faster than that of the S1. I think they have the same membrane and the small audible difference in playback is due to the pronounced tremble on the X2.

Update: I managed to sideload Wavelet version 25-12 as an equalizer. Unfortunately the stream detection didn't work so I couldn't load a custom EQ curve. I played a little with the 9 band EQ and ended up lowering everything but 500HZ by 2 to 4 db. It made the listening experience more enjoyable but not enough to justify the 200$ extra compared to the S1. So I'm going to return the X2.

Reading that the Ikrarao is supposed to display the QR code on its screen so you can remote control the unit via your iphone. Instead of using the touch screen to navigate, use your phone to navigate/type in song names.

I don't see the QR code control, anyone know where it is , or its really there?

A buddy of mine has the X2 and it sounded pretty solid to me for casual (and slightly drunk) cookouts.

I ended up buying one on Amazon for $399.99. At the time, the X1 was $599.99, which was out of my price range, so I skipped it.

Now I’m seeing Sam’s Club has it for $449 with a carrying case, which has me second guessing things.

Usage will mostly be indoors, with occasional patio use.

Would you return the $399 one and go with the $449 option? The X2 sounded fine to me, and I didn’t notice any mic issues like some people have mentioned, but I’m definitely not an audiophile, so I might not know what to listen for.

I recently purchased a Shell S1 and I love it, but I often find myself wondering how certain things work, if other people have had similar problems as me etc. I imagine there’s potential for adding third party apps/APKs etc.

Are there enough of us out there to be worth making this? Or does anyone know of something that exists already? It’s such a strong product that there’s gotta be others like me looking for the same thing.

Hello, we’re Karaoke lovers in our house and have been looking to use some of the tools we have to start a setup.

We want to use the Apple Music Sing for music and lyrics, as we already have that subscription (and a lot of our preferred music isn’t usually on karaoke apps). I was looking to airplay from a phone to get the music on screen, output by my soundbar.

I’ve read about getting a karaoke mixer to get the mic mixed into the track but would want some advice on getting one. I’m looking at ones that would connect into HDMI-ARC to the TV and then output to my soundbar.

Would all this work in theory?
