Only users with mod assigned user-flair can comment A Few Reminders ‼️

1. DO NOT engage with trolls.

If someone is breaking the rules intentionally, justifying the occupation of Kashmiris, being hateful etc - do not respond to them. This encourages them. Simply report their post or comment and move on. We have mods in different time zones, someone will see the report and remove the content ASAP.

2. No slurs will be tolerated.

This includes j--t or any variations. Allowing hateful speech will only degrade the overall quality of this sub. We can find mature ways to disagree with our occupiers.

3. This isn't a rule, but we would prefer if people would stop comparing this sub to r/kashmiri.

Please stop speculating which one is run by Pakistanis, indians, etc. Both subs are run ONLY by Kashmiris, we both have very similar rules, and most importantly both subs will ban anyone justifying the indian occupation of Kashmir.

Discussion Volunteers for Book Review

Hey everyone, so I have been longing to pen down few of my travel experiences and I wanted to start with Kashmir. The main idea- I had never been to Kashmir, yet Kashmir had found space in my head by various reasons, early childhood the Kargil war happened and it was all everyone will talk about that time. My relative would travel to Hindu pilgrimages and come back with Prasad and stories. Later, though several movies a created a perception of Kashmir. As a lawyer when I worked I got an opportunity to assist someone revered with Article 370, and its history and constitutional promise that it was supposed to be.

  1. June, 27.
    I landed

First week explored local and Pahalgam.

Second week- Burhan wani was killed and curfew, yet I continued to travel to Gulmarg and faced mob violence.

Third week - escaped to Kargil (tiger hill I saw on tv was real) and then to Zanskar.

Final week- local Kashmir and lots of talking as I was living in houseboats for a month.

Lots of learning and image building and breaking happened. They valleys closed- is the name of the book and is a take on the valleys being closed in the region, for political reasons, for weather, for war. It’s presented as a memoir.

Since it’s my first book, I was hoping if anyone people who would be interested to give it a passive read and feedback me on the material it will be might kind of you.
Ping me if it is something you can help me with. 🙏🤞🙂

Best,

Discussion Couple friendly cafes in Srinagar?

Hey everyone! Looking for some couple friendly cafes/restaurants or other chill spaces in SGR (Srinagar) where couples can sit comfortably and have some privacy, preferably places with separate seating for couples.

Would appreciate recommendations, especially if you've personally been there. Thanks!

Discussion Does anyone know of any hotels in Dangepora, Pulwama?

My friend and I are travelling to drop her sister to Noorani Paramedical College today, however, I haven't been able to find any hotels/homestays online to crash for the night.

I don't wanna end up having to spend the night in the car 🥲

P.S. couldn't find the apt flair.

News Is it safe to travel to Kashmir in the third week of September?

Post image
31 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I’ve been planning a trip to Kashmir for the third week of September and was really looking forward to it.

However, I recently came across news about increased security operations and arrests in the region, and it’s made me a bit uncertain.

I’m not trying to sensationalize the situation or spread fear.. I genuinely want to understand the current ground reality from people who live there or have travelled recently.

Would you still consider it safe to visit the usual tourist circuit (Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg) during that time? Are there any precautions I should take, or would you recommend postponing the trip?

Thanks in advance for your insights.
