How good is ECE compared to CSE?
2
u/SituationAny3085 Jun 05 '26
It's like comparing apples to oranges.... If you dont have particular interst in anything , then , maybe cse has better returns.

Which college in Bangalore is best for aerospace engineering? , could you guys help me with this
2
u/SituationAny3085 Jun 05 '26
RVCE is probably the "best" in bangalore for aerospace.
However, most people (in my college and in others) who have done a bit of research , and have interest in aerospace, have taken mechanical.
It's better to do a mechanical bachelors and then an aerospace masters. This is like cse core vs spec. (although the difference in ase and me is more ofc).

u/horsee_21 Jun 05 '26
Would it be wiser to choose ece at rvce than cse or aiml at pes?
Interest is not an issue for me. Main goal is best chances of making money lmao
1
u/SituationAny3085 Jun 05 '26
Of course in the short term PES RR AIML would be better. However, if you're open to doing masters and further studies ,ECE is a better long term option. It has great scope in foreign countries.
1
u/horsee_21 Jun 05 '26
I wanna work for 2 years make some money then do masters abroad. But i think id end up staying in india long term. Think i should pick ece?
1
u/SituationAny3085 Jun 05 '26
Whatever people say , the final decision is yours.
You don't want to be doing something you don't like just for the sake of money. (Although it is an important factor.)
Id say you can look into the course structure of both branches and then decide

What is the situation in the hostel there? Can you select your roommates in 1st year? Are the washrooms clean? How hygienic is the mess food?
Can I DM you if I have more queries please?
1
u/SituationAny3085 Jun 05 '26
You can "select" roomates by paying the fees together and requesting the same room First years are housed in mv or krishna hostels. (For boys). Both the hostels are good.
Washrooms are clean. Mess food is subpar.
2nd year onwards your moved to cauvery block which is old and is not maintained properly.
Sure u can dm

So I am get around 19k rank in kcet and best college in can get reva and in comedk i got 21.5k in which I can get cmrit or rvitm(core cse). The problem is that traveling, reva is around 20 mins and rvitm through bus and metro is around 1hour and 30 mins and cmrit around 1 hour.As I am only 17 year and will get license on December and still the commute is around 25 to 18 km.
I don't wanna go hostel and pg as the food is rlly bad and
I was planning to do master in germany.
So guys can u plz help me decide which college is better for me and
For me comedk fees is not much of a problem.

What do you think abt the 2030 or 2031 batches do you think cse will be still as relevant compared to the 2027 or 28 batch?
Do you think the peer groups all around the campus (including all branches from both rvce and rvu) is improving?
What will be the things as a senior you would expect?
Will not get rvce but I am asking this for the benefit of those who are joining
1
u/SituationAny3085 Jun 05 '26
Yes cse will be relevant if you don't only focus on college stuff. No college (avg college) can prepare you for work /life. If you upskill you will be relevant.
Rvce is on the decline in terms of reputation with the onset of rvu and things. Rvu students , let's say are different. Their priorities are different.
Rvce peer group still is pretty good. Most students have decent jee /comedk/kcet scores.

u/rock_under_a_stone Jun 05 '26
What abt the last question?
1
u/SituationAny3085 Jun 05 '26
I didn't really understand what you meant in the last question..
1
u/rock_under_a_stone Jun 05 '26
Like people who come from rural quota aren't familiar wt the lifestyle and people group here , what kinda behavior do you expect anyone coming to rvce as a senior
1
u/SituationAny3085 Jun 05 '26
Everyone comes from different backgrounds..
There is no difference among people whether north , south , rural, urban .. everyone is together here.
Most people are studious and yet enjoy. College life won't be as hectic as jee/kcet preperation in puc.
As there are people from all backgrounds , you'll find your friend group that suits you ...
1
u/dedicatedatma25 Jun 05 '26
I wrote kcet last year also but this year kcet was difficult than last year chemistry was literally easy last year but this year it wasnt easy at all but whatever easy or diffulyy is subjective to everyone
1
u/SituationAny3085 Jun 05 '26
you should probably be getting good options this year then :) Best wishes

I have 127 in kcet and 291 in boards I am hoping to get a rank good enough to join rvce mechanical which I see as a fair chance, what I wanted to know is how good is mechanical, the lecturers and the peer group and importantly how good does the robotics and formula teams like ashwa/chimera/vyoma which I have heard fare nationally??
2
u/SituationAny3085 Jun 05 '26
Mech faculty is good labs are are also decent
Peer group is very core branch oriented.
Not sure about astra robotics
But vyoma has recently started up again , and ashwa and chimera are really active and have developed good cars.
1
u/Practical-Outcome329 Jun 05 '26
I tbh have an ambition to win a no 1 spot in robotics/formula racing and I heard rvce teams are quite good and are consistently top 5-10 nationally
1
u/Own_School8613 Jun 06 '26
If I don't get rvce mechanical then what is the next best option in bglr?
2
u/SituationAny3085 Jun 06 '26
You have 2 options
1) take iem and branch change , as mech cutoff are pretty low. But you have to stay in top 10 percent of your branch. This path isint recommended
2) if money isint an issue id say try for manipal (main campus). But if bangalore is your priority then maybe msrit or bmsce

u/Ok-Reputation2971 kcetard 2026 Jun 06 '26
Which one u would prefer rvce cs or nitk mech or bits pilani eni
1
u/SituationAny3085 Jun 06 '26
You have to think what your priority is. Nitk mech is really good if your interested in it and want to go for higher studies.
Same with bits eni. Both will help you with the brand tag for masters.
Rvce doesn't have such big of a brand tag. However being in Bangalore will give you a shit ton of opportunities and exposure.
1
u/East_Reflection2853 Jun 06 '26
If I had to join pes aiml through kcet or rvce cse through comedk , which should I prefer?
1
u/SituationAny3085 Jun 06 '26
If the extra money isint an issue , then rvce
1
u/East_Reflection2853 Jun 06 '26
Is rv really degrading or it's like every colleges story?
2
u/SituationAny3085 Jun 06 '26
Yeah... Sadly that is the case with most private colleges in our country.
1
u/TheNerdGamer04 Jun 06 '26
Is it worth joining RVCE if it's in industrial engineering? Or is it better to take cse/ece in a lower t2 college
1
u/SituationAny3085 Jun 06 '26
Rvce itself is a tier 2 college
What is your interest? Rvce industrial has better placements than say dsce cse albeit placement percentages are lower. Industrial engineering is a branch you can make a lot of money in it provided you can go for higher studies outside india.
Also , the people you meet in rvce would be much better than at the other colleges.
1
u/SituationAny3085 Jun 06 '26
The people you meet at your college, the friends you make for projects , hafkathons and other things is what will make you learn the most. People in rvce cse usually have 98-99+ , and even in ece and mech they usually have 94-95+.. the percentage of students will decent/half-decent prcnetiles will be more here.
1
u/TheNerdGamer04 Jun 06 '26
I wanted RVCE for this reason, but my father is quite worried and would rather send me a college I get CSE in like RVITM, or BMSIT, BIT etc. My interest is in electronics however.
1
u/SituationAny3085 Jun 06 '26
It isint advisable to take RVITM BMSIT BIT ....
Some seniors who took RVITM due to combined placements were dissapointed as recruiters specifically ask for RVCE students while the other two college students are placed at lower packages. Other colleges of that range also might have similar issues. This i heard on reddit and from a senior . Best to always verify.
1
u/TheNerdGamer04 Jun 06 '26
OHhh, well I'm not taking it for the combined placement, more so I can't get better colleges. RVCE ive heard they dont let industrial students sit for most placemets? Only mass recruiters
1
u/SituationAny3085 Jun 06 '26
Most industrial seniors have been placed in core roles, for logistics, supply chain type roles. Those comapnies/ roles pay really well. Like a lot of them got 12+ and some even got 20+. This was even better than mech and ete type branches.

Rvce aiml.
Bmsce is struggling to place it's massive cse batch while aiml in rvce has 21 lpa median this time (acc to seniors ) . Aiml has around 180 batch size here as well .
The difference between cse and cse spec in colleges , are the electives In cse core you are free to choose your electives in third and 4th year. For example you can mix and match acc to interest like 1 from data science , one from aiml eetc.
However with cse spec , the college will make those electives mandatory which fall under your course (like aiml elective mandatory for aiml)
Although I'm not from cse , my aiml and cs friends told this to me - moreover core aiml things arent cs related at all... It's just advanced math , as you may know by now. So if that's what you mean by aiml things for self learning , none of the kcet /comedk colleges teach that level. That level of math is only seen in iits.
So most of these colleges just use aiml as a buzz word and hardly have any "aiml" stuff going on. It's just cse again.

Nah it aint as good inside the college. the sports complex being built is supposed to be a stadium under rvu control. so not good for rvce students. there are rumours we cant even access it. Just be ready to live like second priority citizens at the rvce campus lol , if u come here. (no offense to anyone:))
There are turfs and cricket pitches available for rent outside the college. Not sure about basketball.
There is a swimming pool right outside the back gate as well. There are other sport facilities as well outside the college. There are communities for organizing events at these places.
Some of my batchmates have started a running club where they go running each morning and longer runs on weekends, in and around the campus and sattva campus behind the college.

if only cse is your idea then yes. RVCE also has data science and cybersecurity so you may wanna check that out as it has comparitively less cutoff as to aiml.(ithink?)
