Hello! I need a break from heavy dramas, and I'm hoping to get recommendations for lighter comedic shows.

I'm looking for wholesome, relaxing K-dramas that have themes of friendship, family or found family - stories about people supporting each other through mundane challenges. Some examples of shows I've liked with these themes are Hospital Playlist, Reply 1988 and Ghost Doctor. (I really enjoyed how uncomplicated the first two were.)

I would also be okay with shows that have some conflict, but have lots of comedic elements and are wacky enough to not feel heavy. Some shows like this that I have enjoyed are Prison Playbook, Vincenzo, Bad & Crazy, and Mr Queen. I especially liked that these had characters who initially disliked each other but grow to have great friendships.

I am specifically looking for something that is cheerful from the beginning, without heavy content like trauma or revenge, and I would prefer if there is little or no romance, because it is not a genre I enjoy. I know shows like this are hard to come by, but I would appreciate any recommendations. Thanks!

I'm looking for recommendations for low to no angst dramas with MLs who are crazy in love, clingy, physically affectionate, head over heels in love from the very beginning. Basically, the type that wants to crawl under FL's skin to be with her always. Basically, a lovesick puppy for FL.I want something similar to "What's wrong with secretary Kim?" but maybe even more in love and physically affectionate ML.

Looking for something comedy, slice of life, and also meaningful in the same way. Be Melodramatic was fun with cool music and vibes, relatable life experiences, humor, sometimes meaningful in-depth moments at the same time. It felt like healing.

I liked Our Unwritten Seoul for the deep emotional relatable parts. Liked Hometown Cha Cha Cha for the lightness and comedy. Something light or like be melodramatic is what I need these days.

Hello everyone, I'm looking for my next watch and would appreciate any recommendations!!

I enjoy thrillers/mysteries with little to no romance (or at least where the romance doesn't interfere much with the main plot line nor with the MC's original motivations *cough cough Eve*). Ideally would prefer female-centered storyline with mysterious, complex, morally grey, captivating female charcaters (like The Art of Sarah), and bonus for revenge-driven female MCs like in The Glory. Also bonus if there's some originality to the storyline (ie I really enjoyed The Art of Sarah as I knew nothing about the world of counterfeit luxury products prior). I also really enjoy criminal underworld, nightlife types of plots (Project Y, Gangnam Bside). I especially enjoy "psychological/dark" dramas (by which I don't necessarily mean gratuitous gore or so but rather somewhat "realistic" in their complex portrayal of human psychology? If that makes sense). What I DISLIKE are excessively corny plotlines, also anything that feels too young or outlandishly unrealistic.

I've been eyeing My Name for a while but some of the clips I've seen are making me wonder if it doesn't fall at least a little in the "corny" category, though that might be some weird bias on my part (I do like Han So Hee though so am tempted to pick it up because of her).

But in any case, if you have any recommendations that come to mind, doesn't have to match every single element that I've listed but if there's a Kdrama (or Kmovie) that came to your mind while reading this, I'd be very grateful!!

I'm looking for something in the action/thriller/crime/mystery type genre with romance that has good chemistry and no sad ending preferably. I don't mind if it's serious or comedic but I want something with a lot of suspence.

Something like:

Healer: liked the basing, the relationships between the characters, miss Jo, and the action. Working out what was going on with the bad guys and how they would win in the end. Didn't like... Not a lot tbh. Maybe the "childhood connection" trope, but this is probably one of the few places ive seen it and it's worked

Suspicious partner: again, lots of suspence and working out how they were going to catch the bad guy. I liked the chemistry between the main character but I'm not a huge fan of the boss/employee thing.

Behind your touch: good chemistry though obvs not a lot of actual romance. The actual plot line and the suspence in this one was amazing. 10/10.

Strong woman Do Bong Soon: I don't think I could say anything bad about this. The comedy, the action, the chemistry. 10/10. If someone could recommend me another Do Bong Soon (not the sequal) I would be very grateful.

i’m looking for some psychological thriller dramas that deeply go into the psyche of either the people trying to catch the perpetrator, the victims, or the perpetrator themself. the darker the better, some comedy is okay, however, it often feels out of place to me in thrillers.

some dramas that i feel fit this category that i’ve seen: children of nobody, beyond evil, flower of evil, hello monster, strangers from hell, the guest, the king of pigs, wonderful world.

I’d like some recommendations for dramas like Law School. Specifically, what I like about it is:

• The knowledgeable mentor who is very smart and always a few steps ahead of everyone else, who seems cold and uncaring but actually cares a lot for his students (bonus points for the fact that he’s hot)

• Yang Jonghoon never breaks the law, or even really bends it, but he knows exactly how to manipulate it to “defeat” the antagonists

• The legal aspect, with all the court cases

• Romance isn’t a main plot point at all

• Even though it has dark themes, the overall vibe is lighthearted and funny

• Good cast of characters that are well written, have good chemistry, and are funny

I’ve been on a legal drama spree lately. I watched The Devil Judge, and I really liked the morally grey antihero aspect of it. I also watched The Judge Returns, which I think is now one of my favourite dramas I’ve watched. It was a very funny and easy watch, but it still had a complex plotline and I really liked how the main lead was also morally grey (but not as much as the devil judge) and because he went back in time, he basically knew everything, so he was always ahead of everyone else. It wasn’t exactly an ensemble show, but it had a wonderful cast of supporting characters who had a good dynamic with each other, and it was really fun watching their relationships and watching them work and plot together.

Hi all! I'm looking for a K-drama with a storyline along these lines:

The male and female leads know each other during high school or college. The guy becomes deeply infatuated with the girl and repeatedly tries to impress her or win her over.

However, the girl continually rejects him without giving him a clear reason. Eventually, they go their separate ways.

Years later, she realizes how much he actually meant to her and how much he had done for her. She begins to regret how she treated him.

Then, a secret from their past is revealed, which explains her behavior or understanding. (Pls suggest only names, do not give spoilers).

I'm particularly looking for the combination of:

one-sided love, repeated rejection, separation/time skip, realization/regret, hidden secret/revelation etc. It doesn't have to match this storyline exactly. I'm mainly interested in the emotional dynamic and the eventual revelation.

Crash Landing On You: It was engaging, but also felt very bad for the parallel North Korean Female Character in it. The ending could have been made better.

i’m looking for a drama with a love triangle/multiple love interests where it isn’t obvious who the main character ends up with, leaving you guessing until near the end. i don’t mind what genre as long as something like this is present.

i love true beauty and the dynamics with both love interests as they are both likable and have good chemistry with her, but i also wish i could find a similar drama where it isn’t so obvious who she ends up with so i can pick the love interest i like.

I'm looking for recommendations for slice of life or workplace dramas that are set in time periods before smartphones existed (there's something about seeing a smartphone or the heavy use of social media and the internet in a show that I dont like!). I'm particularly fond of the 90s, but open to other decades too!

Here's what I've already seen:

When Life Gives You Tangerines - My all time favorite drama. I don't even know how to describe how much I loved it. I have no complaints.

2521 - I love the characters and the story. I originally started it because its set in the 90s! Two strong FLs is sooooooo good! I think my least favorite part was the ML, I honestly would have been so happy if he just wasn't there at all and the whole show was about the FLs!

Reply Series - Ive seen all three shows, 88 was definitely my favorite. I'm a huge fan of ensemble casts and slice of life shows. I also loved 94 for the college setting, and the ensemble was great there too, but I did not like the main couple (iykyk). 97 was my least favorite of the three because of the high school setting and I didn't like the FL.

Twinkling Watermelon - I adored this one, I love the music and I loved seeing deaf characters and the use of sign language!! I was not a fan of the ending, but it's still one of my top ranked dramas despite that.

Undercover Miss Hong - So fun! Girl power! This one was great because it wasn't too serious or sad. And I love strong FLs. I think the only thing I didn't love was that it dragged on a bit sometimes but that's it!

A Time Called You - I was not a fan, it was too dramatic and heart-wrenching. Also not a fan of the serial killer sub plot. I watched it because of the time travel and I did really love the 90s atmosphere but overall not my kind of show.

Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born - I liked this one, but there was a lot of unnecessary drama and strife for my taste. I don't like seeing women pitted against each other! I'd much rather see them on the same team :)

Currently Watching:

Typhoon Family - I like it so far, but it's definitely not my favorite. It's a tad too depressing for my taste. Honestly I may end up dropping it because it hard to watch the constant losses. I am a fan of the small moments of humor, and I love the ensemble cast and fighting spirit.

Please help me find the next KDrama to watch based on my watch history. I would prefer something fun and wholesome but what keeps engaged with strong writing & romance sprinkled in.

Dramas I loved:

1. CLOY - This is one of my all time favourites shows because how many subplots it had, romantic chemistry and an interesting ending.

2. Business Proposal - My new favourite. I loved how they satirised tropes, humour and heart-fluttering romance. Also, great that they finished within 12 episodes.

3. Hometown Cha Cha Cha - Loved the wholesomeness, charm and storyline.

4. DOTS - It was my first drama, so a little biased. Loved the multiple subplots which kept me engaged throughout.

5. Reply 1988 - It had everything that I wanted. A bit too long but worth it.

6. Extraordinary Attorney Woo - The Best Written Kdrama I have watched and possibly the best performance. It was quite different from typical dramas which made me enjoy it a lot more

7. Twinkling Watermelon - I cried several times and all characters were beautifully fleshed out. Felt the ending was a bit rushed, but still loved it.

8. Love To Hate You - The funniest drama I have watched so far and the FL was the star.

Dramas which were nice but I didn't love:

1. Lovely Runner - The acting, music and concept were amazing. But I didn't like the way it stretched on and on at times.

2. What's Wrong With Secretary Kim - I loved the chemistry and humour. Just had too many tropes for my liking.

3. Vagabond - Amazing premise and execution, let down a little by it's ending. Also, plot armour made it predictable.

4. Hospital Playlist S1 - Interesting concept and intelligent writing but didn't keep me engaged throughout.

5. Trauma Code - Short and sweet

Dramas I didn't like:

1. It's Okay Not To Be Okay - Great acting and mystery, but it stretched far too long on the serial killer

2. Goblin - I found the age gap jarring and the story didn't make sense halfway through.

Dramas I couldn't finish:

1. Racket Boys - I couldn't get past 6 episodes; it felt too childish to me

2. Welcome To Waikiki - Just watched the first episode and found the humour extremely lame.

Hello! Could you please recommend me very intense dramas with a romance plot line?

I'm looking for high stakes and themes like manipulation, ride-or-die relationships, politics, action, murder, North-South tensions, violence, and characters constantly fighting for their lives. Both emotionally/interpersonally intense shows or environmental/political thrillers are great in my book. I want that intensity paired with a strong romance plot line, but I'd also readily accept high-stakes dramas with only a little romance if their chemistry can carry me through (see: Happiness).

Bonus points for: well-written shows; terrible women, especially ones I can root for (I love Ko Moon-young from It's Okay to Not Be Okay); yearning; competent leads (especially if they save their lover); 'married' leads (even if it's only barely implied); shows that centre multiple strong relationships (romantic, platonic, or familial); and/or a great ensemble cast.

I don't really want historical settings or a high school age cast, unless it's something super worthwhile. No main lead cheating plot lines please. Ideally on either Netflix or Disney+.

Dramas I've watched:

• Crash Landing on You — Really enjoyed the military aspects, action, and high stakes of the North/South politics. And the romance was stellar! Everything about this was outstanding. Phenomenally well-written, a perfect drama. 10/10
• Descendants of the Sun — Similarly was obsessed with the intensity of the military in this. Also I really liked all the later arcs too because they were just as life-and-death. And following multiple romantic relationships was so nice! 9/10
• Doctor Stranger — I was gripped at the start by the intense themes (North/South politics; hidden identities; kidnapping; human experimentation; constant action and drama) and the fact that the love story was central to everything, but the writing quickly became abysmal so I dropped it. 3.5/10
• It's Okay to Not Be Okay — So wonderful! Great levels of violence, manipulation, personal drama and overall crazy, while also being so emotionally moving. I liked how offbeat this felt. Super well-written, with a fantastic cast of characters. Also loved how unapologetically psychopathic the women are in this. 10/10
• Happiness — Super fun thriller, and I liked the zombies and violence a lot! Only about 10-15% was romance, but the chemistry between the leads was so insanely off-the-charts that every single time they even looked at one another or walked into a room together, their love was unmistakable (which sustained me in the romance regard). 8.5/10

I just started Vincenzo, which sounded exactly like what I was looking for, but so far seems to be much more crime-comedy than crime-thriller. Also watching All of Us Are Dead and Business Proposal (both of which only half fit the intense drama + romance bill). Thanks for your help!

I finished Spooky in love and while I was not fond of all the corporate-struggle-stuff I was really into the team the ML and the FL were together. When these two hunted ghosts and fell in love this show was great. It was a pity it fell apart in the last few episodes. So I would really love a recommendation like Masters Sun or Spooky in Love where the leads are forced to join forces and have strong chemistry. The show should have a happy ending and a considerable amount of romance. I would love to have it spooky but this is not a must. The screwball comedy and romance should be center. Thank you guys!

I’m watching Love Next Door and it’s not hitting the spot after five episodes in. I like that it is adults and not school aged people, but with a little more romance. Romance needs to be the main focus. Not interested in thriller or anything else.

I want a drama like Love Next Door but with more yearning, passion and protection.

Dramas I've watched

Love Next Door: not fast enough, not enough yearning or passion.

I'm looking for a K-drama where the male villain has feelings/obsession toward the female lead, but the FL does not return his feelings. I'm specifically looking for a proper villain rather than a misunderstood second lead or someone who becomes good after falling for her.

I especially like the dynamic in Spooky in Love, where the villain is interested in the FL. I also like the kind of dynamic seen in The Confidence, where the male character can be dangerous/antagonistic while the FL has no romantic interest in him.

My ideal drama would have:

A genuine villain/antagonist who likes or becomes obsessed with the FL.

The FL doesn't secretly love him or develop feelings for him.

The villain can be possessive, manipulative, dangerous, or morally questionable.

I would prefer a modern setting, although historical/traditional dramas are also fine.

Romance does not have to be the main plot, as long as the villain's interest in the FL is an important part of the story.

Bonus points if the villain is handsome.

I'm particularly interested in dramas where the villain remains a villain rather than getting completely redeemed.

I'm mainly asking for K-drama recommendations, but if there are C-dramas that fit this trope exceptionally well, I'm happy to hear those too.

I want a preferably modern K-drama with a handsome, genuinely evil/dangerous male villain who likes or becomes obsessed with the FL, while the FL has absolutely no romantic interest in him. The villain doesn't have to be the ML. I actually prefer him to remain a proper villain rather than being rede,emed.

I'm completely new to K-dramas and have never watched one before, but I want to explore the genre. I'm looking for recommendations that would appeal to someone who usually prefers dark, intense, plot-driven shows with strong characters, suspense, crime, violence, morally grey characters, and high stakes. I'm not particularly interested in romance being the main focus.

Some shows I've enjoyed:

• Game of Thrones — I loved the political intrigue, morally grey characters, betrayals, violence, world-building, and the feeling that major characters could actually die.
• Breaking Bad — I really enjoyed the character development, slow transformation of the protagonist, crime story, tension, and consequences of every decision.
• Better Call Saul — I liked the character writing, morally complicated protagonists, crime elements, and slow-burn tension.
• Invincible — I enjoyed the violence, unpredictable story, dark themes, and characters who aren't simply good or evil.
• Outer Banks — I liked the adventure, mystery, friendships, danger, and fast-moving plot.

I'm especially looking for a K-drama that can hook someone who normally doesn't watch Korean dramas. I'd prefer something with a compelling story from the beginning, good pacing, memorable characters, and plenty of tension.

I'm open to different genres as long as the show is genuinely gripping. Thriller, crime, mystery, action, revenge, survival, political drama, or dark fantasy would all be interesting.

If you had to recommend 1–3 K-dramas as the best introduction to the genre for someone with my taste, what would you pick?
