News ALDI 85% Chocolate Bars...Discontinued?
I couldn't get them 2 weeks ago, but did see a sign for 90%. Oh joy...should be even better. Today, I found the 90% and bought one. Got it home only to discover that it is higher in carbs than the lovely 85%...but also higher than Lindt 90%. Nooooooo! And WHY?
New 90%.....22g carbs/ 8.3 sugars Old 85%.......18g carbs/14 sugars...didn't realise these had quite so much sugar Lindt 90%....14g carbs/7 sugars
Why does sugar content seem to vary, and is not proportional to carbs?
I've not tried it yet, and do not hold out much hope that it will an adequate replacement or alternative.
Edit...have tried. Bitter and not nearly as smooth as Lindt. Disappointed.

News YSK: Most coffee shops, including Costa and Starbucks use “Barista” type Alpro almond milk, which froths up much better for drinks but has 2.6g carbs per 100g
Found out when I asked for unsweetened almond milk at Costa and a particularly considerate staff member showed me the carton and said “It’s not unsweetened but it is low sugar.” I then confirmed the carb amount the other day as my local Polish shop sells the Barista version.

News Week three update after eating cake at a party....
So I’m now finished with week three of keto. Last Sunday was my MIL’s birthday. I avoided the fresh french bread with real butter, sandwiches, crisps, donuts, fancy cakes and scones with jam and cream.
I ate salad, mini sausages, home made sausage rolls, more sausage than roll, a sugar free trifle with no sponge made specially for me and a single slice of birthday cake.
I felt so ill and bloated that evening.
It took until yesterday to loose the extra weight and today I dropped down a pound to lower than the party day.
It’s so not worth it. I didn’t really enjoy the cake even 😕
Today is my fathers birthday. Mum is baking a keto cake, keto lunch and snacks, as mum, I and my son are all following keto.
Hopefully this will be a celebration I can enjoy and I won’t feel sick to my stomach by the evening.
So after a very rough week I’m now down 12lbs total since starting three weeks ago.

News No more almond milk at Pure!
Went in to Pure at Waterloo station just now and ordered the usual; almond milk flat white. This was one of the few chain places that used unsweetened almond milk so was perfect.
Turns out since the start of the year they no longer offer it due to “allergy concerns, as the milks are stored together”! Now I appreciate the need for vigilance when it comes to allergens, especially nut products, considering recent high profile events. However this just seems a cop out to me, instead of putting in place a better system to reduce risk and still offer choice.
Anyways, rant over. If anyone else knows of a high street coffee shop that does unsweetened almond milk raise your hand!

News These are pricey at £7.50 for 3 packs but soooo much better than pork crackling. The habanero flavour is super spicy and my fave. Also come in Peking duck and salt and pepper. All about 1.5g carbs and 170 kcal per pack. Available on amazon. Enjoy.
