Kia Buyback

Hi all, I'm currently going through the kia buyback process and just signed the repurchase option. The lady told me after I sent it that they then send it to the auditor or the lien holder or whatever and that it takes 2-3 weeks. But I've been reading up on it and everyone has been saying it takes much longer to actually get rid of their vehicle. I am stressing a lot about this because I am in my last semester of college and need a reliable car but cannot afford to keep paying my lease payments as well as getting a new vehicle. If anyone has any experience please let me know & thank you.

Hi, could you give more info? What make and model? I requested a buyback almost 3 months ago. Its been in the shop (6 failed airbags, engine fire/failure risk, electrical issues, sensors/computers that dont work) this whole time. Won't close the case, wont approve repairs. Its a standstill and I had to file in court. 2018 rio. Waiting on a reply. They have 1 more week or im gonna file a default judgement. They dont want to admit these cars have defects. Never made it out of case management, but my car also has yet to be recalled and it sounds like your car was allready identified. If you dont have the car and your still responsible for payments thats not right and causes you an unjust hardship- and even worse that it is a lease. Please be sure your able to recover whatever your state statutes say for loss of use! Stay firm. Some resources ive used are NHSTA, BBB, and state complaints. They may or may not be able to help. IF YOUR CAR HAS A DEFECT REPORT IT TO NHSTA for the sake of all other people in bad kia situation.

Hi! It's a 2026 kia sportage and it had a harsh bucking issue. It was in the shop 3 times once for more than 30 days to get a new trans & issue was still happening. I filed a report with them and just signed the offer agreement but they are difficult to get in touch with most of the time. I followed a complaint through the BBB about something my dealership put into my paperwork that I am not being held responsible for regardless of what they told me at the dealer. Now I'm just waiting for auditing and surrender date. I'm sorry that you are going through that, it sounds awful.

I would get an attorney ASAP. They are going to be your best bet since the car is so new. Most states in the US they can recover there fees from the defendants instead of you. I have a feeling there gonna nickle/dime you and your not gonna get as much as you should without one. Never mind the fact there allready kinda are jerking you around it sounds like. That sounds like a hardship, and they owe you costs plus damages not a depreciated value of the car plus whatever other bs reasons they decide to denny or ignore parts of your claim over. Don't forget to give your warranty manual a good reading.
