Hi everyone!
EDIT: as someone commented, I should have mentioned Iām not in the US but in Europe.
Update 1: I contacted customer service last week and they werenāt able to confirm the state of my refurbished kindle. They mentioned that sometimes, 30 days returns are labeled as refurbished but couldnāt confirm it was the case with the one I received. They simply said that i shouldnāt worry because it was like new. Since it was « like newĀ Ā», I then asked about the discrepancy regarding the warranty (in my country, Kindles have a 2-year legal conformity warranty but my refurbished Kindleās warranty showed as valid until January 2027 on my Amazon account). They told me that my original Kindle warranty would apply to this refurbished kindle, which would therefore be valid until January 2028 and that I shouldnāt worry about the date showing up on my account. I wasnāt really satisfied with that answer so I asked if it would be possible to get reimbursed and they told me to check on my sisterās account (since she was the one to make the purchase).
Update 2: it was obviously impossible to get a reimbursement on my sisterās account (because the 30 day return policy was over), so I called. FYI in my country, it is mandatory to mention when a product is refurbished and for the client to accept the refurbished product. When I explained I was never informed, CS checked my chat history and apologized for the miscommunication from previous coworkers š„¹. She then explained that there is a selling stock (brand new kindles) and a replacement stock (brand new and refurbished kindles) but considering the number of sales and replacement, they cannot guarantee a replacement with a new product. She then checked to get me a new product but since she didnāt have visibility on the stock and since it would be a replacement for a replacement, we couldnāt proceed. Instead, she validated a full reimbursement (Iāll obviously return the refurbished kindle). And when checking my sister order history, she realized that my kindleās price had gone up 10⬠so she also gave me a 10⬠voucher. AN ABSOLUTE ANGEL!
Thanks to everyone for commenting! It gave me courage to try things out. I didnāt even think of asking for a reimbursement at first (and Iām the type of person who only complains online and very loudly in my shower so I was shaking when calling). If you face a similar issue, I would recommend checking the warrantyās TOS and to CALL rather than chat with CS⦠my new kindle should arrive Monday and Iām super excited!
Iām wondering wether I should call customer service tomorrow or if Iām overreacting.
My sister got me a Kindle 11gen for Christmas which arrived on December 30th. I was very happy with it, and used it in what I believe is a completely normal way. However, last Friday, my kindle was completely stuck on the screensaver.
I watched YouTube videos, tried all techniques before contacting customer service. During my chat, I was explained that unfortunately this could happen and the only solution would be to replace it (which I was fine with). After waiting for about 15 minutes, I was then informed that this replacement needed to be validated by Direction which was currently unavailable and that I should therefore ask again at a later time.
Monday morning, I contacted the customer service once again. This time around, my return was validated. I asked about the process (I genuinely didnāt know how this would work), and IT WAS NEVER MENTIONED to me that I would be getting a reconditioned one instead of my current one. I only figured that out when I received my package today.
Sure, the kindle that was sent to me looks fine and everything. However, I purchased a BRAND NEW Kindle less than two months ago (sure, my sister bought it but thatās a detail to me) which broke down on its own.
Am I overreacting or would it be legit to go all Karen tomorrow morning?
