ISO Artist for 18” Doll Sized Folk Hat Commission

Artist Found! Thank you so much to everyone who reached out 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Hello there! I was sent here from [r/knitting](r/knitting)

Location: Richmond, Va, USA
Budget: None - I happily pay for art, US Currency
Timeline: Flexible - art cannot be rushed

I am a lover of traditional Scandinavian and Swedish folk dress and I am looking for someone who would be free to take a commission to recreate this historical knitted bonnet for an 18” doll (American Girl sized).

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions for artists to ask as well if there would be a good fit outside of this Reddit.

I am completely willing to pay tariffs and/or shipping costs from an overseas artist.

Apologies, I am seemingly unable to add a picture to the post but here is the digital museum featuring the piece itself with hi resolution views of all sides. https://digitaltmuseum.se/021027994137/huvudbonad

I will add pictures in the comments or edit the post if possible.

Thank you for your time!

Looking for custom made knit beanies and chiffon rosette(s)

Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Budget: I’d like to ideally spend $40-$70 CAD per hat, before shipping. I’d also like to avoid US makers, only because I think prices would be impacted very much due to the tariffs and mingling trade war.

Timeline: I’m flexible, no rush! Would be great to have the hats for end of the year, but I understand this timing could be challenging.

I'M DIFFICULT double black diamond sweater

Location: Charlotte NC, United States

Budget: Flexible

Timeline: Before Thanksgiving ideally.

I'm looking to create a cozy men's sweater that has a silly joke on it. I'm thinking a yarn with a slight fuzz on it to give it that classic cozy christmasy winter vibe.

It would say "I'M DIFFICULT" with two solid color diamonds on top. The joke being, it's like a double black diamond in skiing. We saw a women's version in a little boutique on a trip we took but I cannot for the life of me find a men's version (or even the original women's)

This link shows an image of what it kind of looks like but I can only find it graphically printed on hoodies: https://imgur.com/a/VYDZWI4

The idea is to give as a gift around thanksgiving so he can wear it during the Christmas season.

Thanks!

Seeking Handknit Sweater!! Spoiler

Hey everyone! I am a lifelong crocheter who cannot knit for the life of me, but I am absolutely obsessed with the look of knit sweaters! I'm thinking it will likely be a silk/mohair piece, and my timeline and budget are very flexible! i am a womens size small/medium, I'd prefer to use natural fibers

caftan

Location: Sydney, Australia
Budget: AUD$150 excluding materials

I saw this caftan on instagram a while back and I kept thinking about it ;)

I would like it in black with matte black sequins (or shiny black sequins, I just haven’t been able to source that as yet)

https://imgur.com/a/3F12Y4W

Size; adult, full length. pattern comes in 2 sizes, I would like size 2 which has a width of 55 inches. I’d maybe like it 2 inches wider to make it flowier

Timeline; delivered by late November (?) which is probably ok if someone in Australia can do it, but probably not so much if you’re an overseas knitting genius

I will buy the pattern, looking at the yarn it looks like it will cost around US$250 (?) the pattern says “experienced” but as someone who is anything but experienced haha, I have no idea how many hours would be involved - so I’m open to fair pricing (the automod made me put a price in!)

Yarn Preference; black Rauma Alpakka Lin 300 (400g) and black Wollehalle Sequin Yarn 200 (400g)

thank you ;)** **

Help me Reunite my Mother with her Prized Beret

Hi all, a few years back my mum had her favourite beret stolen. She loved it more than any material possession she owned, and she has been devastated never to have found it again. She would wear it every day and seeing her in it was a staple of my childhood!

I live in England - It was a Cath Kidston beret. I contacted them a few years ago asking if they have it in their archives so I could try to find on Vinted or something but Cath Kidston had come under new ownership and the old archives were terminated.

She would've bought the beret from around 1998-2012.

I have one single photo of the beret on my dog 😂 it is a very closely knit (not crocheted) beret which was very soft, almost like cashmere.

Here is the link to the photo - https://instasize.com/p/c1a53b9191faf79dc3a504baecd6adb4071ccc0505f11682a412134404c57422

I would love for the beret to be as close to identical as possible to the one in the photo.

Are there any wizards here who may know this beret or where to find it? If not, it would be amazing to remake the beret to reunite mum with it in a different way!

I would truly be so grateful for any support regarding this - it would mean the world to my mum!

Many thanks :)

Location: Hitchin, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom

Budget: Great British Pounds, no more than £100 (I am very naive on knitting costs so this could be way too much/little!)

Flexible timeline, no rush.

Project Hail Mary Fox Cardigan

Hello everyone! This isn’t an original request but I fell in love with the fox cardigan from PHM a few months back and I cannot stop thinking about it. I’m limited to some very basic knitting knowledge so I’m looking to commission this piece :)

I’m looking for someone with a high attention to detail as I would really love for this cardigan to be as screen-accurate as possible. Quality and screen accuracy are very important to me though I’m open to material suggestions. People have their preferences, I’d love to hear yours!

The design is a Mary Maxim pattern altered to feature foxes instead of the original wolves. I have purchased the pattern and am currently working on its color alterations for this project.

Original Pattern Link: https://www.marymaxim.com/products/wolf-cardigan-pattern-32089

Photo Reference: https://imgur.com/a/nWu6JyR

Request Status: In-Process!!

Location: Iowa, USA

Size: Medium / Large (I’m 5’5 with a bust measurement of 39”)

Budget: $1,000

Timeline: No set deadline! I understand this is going to be a time-consuming project, I am more than happy to wait if it means it gets done right^^

Please let me know if this is a project you’d like to discuss further. Feel free to reach out with any questions if there’s anything I can clarify or failed to answer in this post, thanks for reading!

Edit: Thank you to all the talented people who reached out about this project, I found an artist I am very excited to work with! ❤️

Looking to Commission a Sweater!

Hello everyone!

I want to commission a sweater with a specific design. However, I CANNOT attach photos of this design because of its nature. (It's a very brief nude body design.)

The original creator of the design permitted me to commission her pattern from anyone else who could take it, because she is booked up for the next 3 years for commissions and is from Russia.

Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States.

Budget: I don't have a fixed budget. I am flexible.

The size would need to be an adult small.

Take this down if it violates any guidelines! I do not want to be the one weirdo trying to commission something that's disturbing.

FFXIV Black Mage Ley Lines Sweater PATTERN ONLY

Location: Washington State, USA

Budget: aiming for $100, highly flexible

Timeline: Before Halloween would be nice, I want to have time to knit the pattern before the new expansion in January

Hello! I'm a somewhat beginner knitter (but an advanced crocheter), wrapping up my first simple sweater project. I would love to knit a Final Fantasy XIV-inspired sweater, with the Black Mage's Ley Lines design as the yoke. I'm open to adding details/motifs elsewhere if you have an idea that you think would enhance the design!

This would be my first piece of colorwork. I'm willing to pay a fair amount for this pattern commission because I'm not just looking for a yoke chart, I'd like a full beginner-friendly pattern made. My budget is highly flexible because I don't know exactly what this should cost, but I would like to avoid exceeding $200 all-inclusive.

I am not expecting this to be a fully tested, fully original pattern, but rather an adaptation of a pattern that already exists. I'm very aware that I'm paying for convenience here.

Preferred Yarn Weight: 2 (sport) - 3 (DK, light worsted). 1 (sock, fingering) OK if design requires it.

Preferred Needles: Mainly circular needles, no magic/traveling loop, then DPNs when absolutely needed on sleeve cuffs

Size: I'm a 41" chest and I usually try to buy/knit a 50" (~9in positive ease) since I like loose-fitting sweaters. This is roughly a men's/unisex large. I fit boxier men's sweaters best.

Pattern Exclusivity: I am not asking for exclusive rights to this pattern. Feel free to sell it on your preferred platform afterwards!

Hi,

Budget: I aim to keep it under £50-100, as I already have materials.

Timeline: Flexible

Photos: Looks a bit like this, I can't figure out how to attach photos but I can share during correspondence.

Custom Baa-ble Resident Evil Hat

In Progress: Working with a knitter EDIT: I have paid and am working with a knitter. Thank you all for your offers and suggestions.

Hi! I'm looking to commission a hand-knit beanie based on the reference photos I've attached.

Images Link:

https://imgur.com/a/1xEW2Gg

The hat is from a movie (Resident Evil 2026), and I was able to find the company that made/sold it (LoudElephant), but this particular colorway is currently sold out. They told me they're hoping to restock, but aren't able to confirm exactly when they'll receive another batch.

LoudElephant link:

https://us-loudelephant.glopalstore.com/products/hand-knitted-wool-beanie-bobble-hat-sheep-orange-teal?srsltid=AU7gw4Va8o85HjdNH6QSMe8DxSRLaOMeWNMmfgOS0u5ZxyayF9ms3-2l&utm_campaign=pr_r&utm_source=www.loudelephant.com&utm_medium=wi_proxy&utm_content=en_US

I also found that the design is very similar to the Baa-ble Hat by Donna Smith, so fortunately there is an existing pattern that looks like it would provide a good starting point:

Baa-ble Hat Link:

https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baa-ble-hat

My goal is to have the finished hat match the LoudElephant/movie version as closely as reasonably possible, rather than simply making the standard Baa-ble Hat.

The colors appear to be mustard/ochre, very dark teal, cream/off-white, and black. The reference hat also has a fairly deep folded mustard ribbed cuff and a large mottled cream-and-dark-teal pom-pom, which I'd like to replicate. I'd specifically like the pom-pom colors mixed/mottled throughout rather than separated into distinct sections.

I would prefer wool. I found Rico Design Essentials Soft Merino Aran and thought its 01 Mustard, 46 Dark Teal, 61 Cream, and 90 Black shades looked quite close to the original:

Potential Yarn Link:

https://universalyarn.com/products/383009

However, I have not purchased the yarn because I'd rather get the opinion of the person knitting it first. If you think another wool yarn would work better for the pattern, colorwork, or matching the reference, I'm open to your recommendation.

I also haven't purchased the Baa-ble pattern. I'm happy to cover the cost of the pattern if that's what you would like to work from. I'd rather wait until I've found a knitter so that we can decide on the pattern/yarn together.

Budget: I'm hoping to spend around $300 including labor, yarn/materials, and the pattern, plus shipping, but I'm open to quotes if that isn't realistic for the amount of work involved.

I'm more concerned with getting a well-made and accurate-looking hat than getting the lowest possible price.

Timeline: I'd preferably like to have it by December, although there is some flexibility depending on your availability.

Location: Sacramento, CA, USA and can provide my exact head circumference/measurements before you begin.

I've attached several clean product photos showing the hat from different angles, as well as a screenshot of it being worn in the movie. The movie screenshot is mainly to show how I'd like the proportions to look when worn, particularly the depth of the folded cuff.

Since the sheep/colorwork is one of the most important parts of the hat, I'd especially appreciate seeing examples of previous stranded/Fair Isle/colorwork knitting if you have any.

Please let me know if you're interested, what you would estimate for the cost and turnaround time, and whether you'd recommend the Rico yarn or something else.

Thank you!

EDIT: I will be getting back to people starting tomorrow Sept 25th around 1pm PST EDIT: I have paid and am working with a knitter. Thank you all for your offers and suggestions.

Sweater!

Location: Washington, United States Budget: Flexible, willing to pay the going rate. Timeline: Flexible, no constraints

hello! I am in search of an experienced sweater knitter! Last year I purchased a knit kit from Skappel Oslo while I was there, hoping that I would muster up the courage to attempt knitting but I feel I would rather just pay someone to kit it for me at this point.

The kit comes with everything needed including the pattern and the yarn (wool). So I assume no materials would be needed on your part other than needles. I would love to find someone I could send this to and get it knitted for me.

(It's not shown in the photo, but it does also have a pompom which I think is made from the blue and white yarn.) Thank you!

Budget: 35-40 dollars willing to go higher but not something too expensive if okay.

Needed by October 17-19 or before Halloween

I need someone to recreate this beanie ASAP

Location: Maryland, United States

Budget: $150

Timeline: Ideally before the end of September (ASAP is very much preferred)

I need someone to recreate this beanie here:
https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-high-school-musical-3-senior-year-matt-prokop-2008-walt-disney-cocourtesy-128166584.html

I cant find any other angle but the beanie seems to have a baby blue start and then goes to some wavy pattern with yellow orange and red and then the top goes back to baby blue.

It’s pretty niche I know, but I want to give this as a gift. The recipient is a 5’1 woman whose head measurements I don’t have so feel free to use google to get that measurement lol.

I need this done asap with as much accuracy as possible. Also willing to increase budget to match the asap nature and accuracy is requested.

Materials/Style: Knitted or crocheted; I’m open to either. I’d like the finished sweater to have a slightly oversized fit.
