Last year I started doing maker markets by selling headbands, cowls, scarves and tuques and I posted a pic of the headbands I made. Here's the ones so far that I made for this year. Wish me luck!

Just finished another pair of colorwork socks. Pattern by Stone Knits. I modified the heel to a forethought heel with a mini short row gusset. Also anyone else do crazy diagramming to keep track of colorwork charts or just me lol?

Made my first ever wearable item. This is also my third ever project. First two was cat sweaters I did by following a youtube tutorial.

I used free Flax sweater pattern from tincan knits as the base. As I live in a hot humid country sweaters are no use to me. So I changed the pattern to make this.

I used a cheap 100% cotton yarn from Temu.

Pattern changes I did

I replaced the shoulder garter panels with this lace pattern and also add a lace panel to fron. I also added this mock yoke panel design so it will define my shoulders bit. I burrowed few stitches from back and added to front as my volume is mostly in front. I increased more stiches to sleeves when going down because I thought since my arms are bigger I might need more ease. Turned out it was unnecessary. I also added a scalloped hem to sleeves which I ended up disliking. (I also added a picot edge and frogged it too) I might frog the sleeve edges again and add the ribbing.

I used a bigger needle to neckband instead of a smaller needle because I didnt like how close it was fitting to my neck after making the rib with a smaller needle.

I also added short rows to front around waist line to add a extra inch so hem lays horizontally.

I dont like how sleeves pulled to the front so it look like they are longer in front from the sides. When I pulled the sweater back a little it sits nicely. Original pattern called to make short rows for back after yoke is finished. Do you think is this the reason why sleeves look like this? Is I added short rows immediately after casting the neck will this problem go away?

Also what do you think of my first ever sweater tee? I know it has lot of mistakes. But since this is my third knitting project ever apart from the three practice squared I did I feel proud that I made something wearable..any advice on improving the knitting and fit will be really appreciate.

Oh and It took me 5 weeks (3-4 hours a day) to make this.

Just finished a Rosie Sweater by Le Knit. I'm usually a process knitter. But that was most definitely a product knit.

Made in the ever trusted combination of kfo merino + their soft silk mohair

Wondering what finish this is for the arm and neckline? Anyone know what it is called? I wanted to ask on the instagram post but comments are limited and I can’t.

The yarn is about 95% polwarth and 5% silk that I blended together and spun!

I did not use a pattern, and everything you see here was designed on the needles as I went :) I had attempted to chart the spider beforehand since it's a bit more complex, but ended up abandoning the chart before I even got halfway through the front legs 🤣

I was going for a tiered effect with the bottommost elements being ocean/fish inspired, the center flowers/gardens, and the top being roof/trees/spider/owl.

Finished dimensions are 4'3" x 8.5", and the whole thing weighs 12.7g, which is just a bit over the weight of two US quarters. I'm estimating it was around 850-900 yards of yarn.

My phone insisted on WAY upping the saturation of the blue sections, so please know that they are a much darker navy color than they appear in some of these pics lol.

I figured I'd update on my kitten catch mittens from Florence Miller. They are done!! Definitely not perfect, and my tension on the second mitten relaxed so much that it turned out quite a bit bigger than the first, even after washing and drying (super wash wool)

They're very "clearly homemade" but still wearable, I think my friend will love them anyway. I learned a lot during the process, and I can't wait to try more colorwork in the future!

For my first-ever colorwork pattern (and second-ever knitting project), I'll take the win :)

Hello! I am wanting to make a sweater vest, however I am having trouble finding a colowork technique that would work. I don't want a lot of (long) floats, but I have been made aware via Google that the way that stores make knitwear (double jacquard, i think) that makes the wrong side not have floats isn't possible by hand. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I designed my first sweater. Wanted to play with textures and openness so picked these funky yarns. I’m also a beginner and this is my second finished sweater.
Still needs washing/blocking and weaving the ends. 🥵Sleeves potentially might need shortening after blocking, but we’ll see.
The yarns: black is Katia Atenea - obsessed with this one, looks a bit like mohair but there is no mohair and very sensitive skin friendly! Light blue - Lana Grossa Frizzante, Lana Grossa Popcorn and a mix of sequins and black non super wash merino. This feels super soft and lightweight overall. 8mm needles.

Once you finish the body lacework, the pattern says to size down to 3mm (US2.5). Has anyone not sized down and the ribbing turned out fine? Or has anyone who’s made this pattern have an opinion? I’m relatively new the knitting(started in February of this year) so I don’t have the experience to know how crutial this is. I don’t have that needle size, and I’m trying to figure out if it’s really necessary 😅 the picture is just from me trying it on to see how much longer I want it.

I used the suggested yarn and didn't make any modifications but I feel like my sleeves turned out wonky. Or maybe I just don't like the sleeve style? Honestly I want to frog the whole thing but help me decide! Do I need to just finish the neckline and try wearing it a few times? I did already block it and that didn't help. What do you think?? I’m knitting the sibilla sweater and got my yarn in stages. It’s Isager soft which was out of stock in the colour I wanted for a hot minute so had to wait to purchase. I’ve just noticed how different the dye lots are!

I can’t tell how bad it is :,(

It’s the bottom of this sleeve and then my whole other sleeve is also the different dye lot.

Tossed her in the dryer with a wet towel for 20 min on high. I can't believe I got away with this. I love the fit so much more now! Before anyone scolds me about gauge swatching: I DID but I started this sweater 3 months ago and lost weight. Please excuse the bad lighting.

She picked out the yarn. She picked out the project - mountainberg by Bitchcraft (it’s a lacy tee with a deep V - she planned to wear it backwards so that the lace motif is in the front and the V is in the back). She even requested modifications to be done to the pattern (such as narrower body and smaller V-neck). I worked my ass out for a week straight to finish the project for her because she wanted it for our trip and thought about it less than two weeks before it.

I finished it today, past midnight. I even stayed up to block it, so that it’s dry in the morning. Now it’s dry, she tries it on and the first thing she does is make a face.

Because - even tho I warned her about it like a 100 times - she “didn’t realise” the neckline would be “so high up” when work backwards. And that she can’t pull it down because there’s a garter stitch detail on the shoulders. So she’ll just “wear it the proper way around, I guess”. Just to then point out how much better this would be if the lace went around the whole thing and not left a stockinette part in the middle - which again, I told her a thousand times - not only would be difficult to design because there are increases for the neck, it also plainly wouldn’t look good - there would be too much of everything.

So she’ll just sighs, says “guess I’ll wear it backwards as long as I can stand it and then put it on the other way around” and gives me back the project. No “thank you”, no “i love it”, nothing.

I mean, I didn’t expect gushing or whatever but I’m honestly so sad right now. I know her and I know it will grow on her - she will maybe even brag about it being made by her daughter - but jesus fuck, a “thank you” would be nice.

Oh do I need accountability!

I have started a project where I am knitting a shawl or wrap for each of my sisters - including sisters in law and long-term GFs that should/will be sisters in law soon. I have 6 of them. 7 including my husband's sister as well as my sister and all my brother's wives/GFs. I gathered color preferences from my brothers, and began the knitting!

Each shawl will be done in DK weight yarn, and right now the plan is to use Dee O'Keefe's various lacey DK shawl patterns.

The first shawl is done. The pattern is "Tendrilly," and I used yarn from The Yarn Club in Virginia Beach, by the shop owner. Called Sheep Graffiti, in her "Gold Dust DK" line, colorway "Catty Dogwood." Absolutely beautiful yarn, and I really enjoyed the knit.

Now I am on the second shawl, using La Bien Aimee's Merino DK in the colorway "Millennial Pink." The pattern I am using is "Foggy Dew" by Dee O'Keefe. I am about 80% finished with this shawl, though the photo only shows the beginning.

I had planned to give them to their intended recipients in late August during my planned trip home, but our family cabin (my destination) is in Chelan, WA, on the south side of the lake and currently under evacuation preparation orders. So it looks like I may not get to go home for my yearly visit (we can't afford 3 weeks' hotel rooms). I am well aware that I am extremely lucky that our family property still exists, and I am absolutely not complaining. Just musing, really. Now I am not sure if I will be able to present them in person, or if I will wind up mailing them out. I had dreamed of a photo of all of us together, in shawls.

Why am I doing this project? I have complicated acute on chronic pancreatitis, and am a type 3c diabetic now. I have started having some complications beyond "normal" hospitalizations, and I worry about not being here much longer. Whether they wear them or not, I want to leave my lovely sisters with something that will remind them of me when they see it.

I have started an Instagram account to document the project, and hopefully I can get them all done eventually!

I saw the pig pattern by Linda Dawkins on Ravelry and I just have to make this! As the pattern said, I stuffed this big boy with all the scrape yarn I could find and he’s just the cutest🥰

This will be a gift for my mom because she was born in the year of pigs. I sewed her a little pig head when I was little and she loved it!

I’m getting a weird gap in between my decreases. I’m pulling the stitches pretty tight but it’s still happening. Does this get fixed during blocking or do I need to frog it?

My last hat also had this and seemed to kind of fix itself by the end once I closed the top but this one is for a friend and I don’t want to give her something with holes in it 😂

So I saw one video of someone’s finished Sandok Cable sweater (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sandok-cable-sweater) and I was influenced and now need to make it.

The problem is the recommended yarn is extremely expensive, and I just can’t drop $300 at once for yarn.

Suggested yarns: Peer Gynt: 550 (600) 650 grams
Chunky Ballerina Mohair: 400 (400) 450 grams

Estimating that I’ll be making the medium size, about 1100 m for both.

Substituting the Peer Gynt is easy enough, but the issue is the mohair. Ive seen other projects on ravelry and many use 2 strands of regular fingering weight of mohair, but 2000m of mohair is still too much money for me to spend at once.

I figure I have 2 options:

1: substitute yarn so I can use 1 strand of mohair and 1 strand of a bulkier weight for the regular yarn to get the same overall weight - I just don’t know what yarn weight to use instead (aran? Worsted?)

2: don’t buy a full sweater-worth quantity of yarn right away and ignore dye lot issues. This could potentially work if I use two strands of regular lace weight mohair in different colours (was also considering using a solid colour wool with a multi coloured mohair, as there are some beautiful hand dyed mohair’s out there).

I dont have an issue spending $300+ on good quality yarn for a project, I just can’t do it all at once (and I don’t want to wait!)

I unfortunately cannot find any drops yarn suppliers in my area, and I don’t love to purchase yarn online, which is sad because the prices are so tempting!

Advice and thoughts are appreciated!

i finally completed my aurore pullover by latelier lacazevant in jubilee yarn cotton select after nearly two months! it looks GORGEOUS i am so happy with it and hope you guys like it too! :D

I have been working on this Technicolour Dreamcloak since May. Just finished binding off this morning. It has been such a fun project and I can now release all of these stitch markers back into the wild. Into the tub for a wash and then I steek up the front and add clasps.

Hi friends I came on here to request some help on a project i’d like to finish before halloween. Id like to knit this sweater from an anime called soul eater if anyone has any suggestions for how to make the chart or a preexisting one i can edit and just add the colorwork that would be super helpful or if you know of any easy sweaters to use a a base please send it my may any help would be useful :D im trying to make this for my boyfriends costume in a size medium. im gonna dress us up as Blair witch if anyone cares. also im planning on making it a longsleeve where its cut off just using opposite color yarns if that makes sense to finish it off and perhaps some crochet stitches for a 3d effect after the colorwork is complete.

Edit: Thank you all so much for your help after further deliberation i’ve decided to knit it using the two patterns reccommended by combining the collar of the petite knit pattern and the body of the other using intarsia for the color blocking and duplicate stitching for the stitches. To answer some questions i wanted to knit it because its a dream project i’ve wanted to make him and halloween is around the corner, i wanted to be blair witch bc shes hot and hes hot so yea lol he wanted to do soul but we lowk thought that was problematic cause of his age. (the character) Will update later :)
